Bible Question:
I actually have 4 questions: 1. What was the three-step process of appointing a high priest? 2. How many cities were alloted to the priests in the Promised Land? 3. What king made priests from every class of people, an act that destroyed his house? 4. What king was condemned for acting as a priest? If possible, the book:verse reference for the answers would be helpful. Thanks. |
Bible Answer: Shalom Cthorne, 1 - The High Priest was a direct descendant of Aaron and his sons - Exod. 27:21, 29:19-35, 40:12-16 to name a few references. The steps? Are you talking about the "inauguaration of"? Could you elaborate a bit more on that? Thanks. Now by the time of Messiah, I think they were chosen by lots - Lk 1:8-9, 23 but I'm not sure that this is the office of High Priest, but rather of Temple priests to serve for a portion of the year. 2, 3 - I'll get back to you on these :-) 4 - I think the king is question might be Jeroboam 1 Ki. 12:31, 13:33. Maybe this will get you started and I'll look further into questions 2 and 3. Cheri |
