183 | Salvation if not heard of God? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 230921
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Everyone has the chance to believe according to the following verses, John 16:7-11 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. Notice He, the Holy Spirit, is convicting the “world” of the sin of unbelief; if they have the capacity to reason with what God is telling them then they have made a decision for or against Christ. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

184 | make up of the Syrian Antioch Church | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 231175
Know problem B.R., I'd like to have a dollar for every time I’ve done that in the past! Say while I am at it and speaking of the past; I've been a poster on this forum since 2001 and I have been meaning to ask you if you use to be an old poster that used the name "Inquisitor". Many of your postings are following the exact same format and they hold my interest in the same way? Some people have returned to the forum after being off for years and like me they forget their old sign in names. My problem is I usually have to go clear all my stuff up and it takes me days to get around to ironing it all out and for sake of ease I just end up using a new name to sign in with in some cases. Keep me posted, CDBJ |

187 | How many days was Jesus dead? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 231836
That is the great mistaken assumption that he died on a Friday. The truth is that in the year that He died the 14th of Nissan was on a Thursday and the next day was Friday and a High Sabbath feast day. The next day wasn’t the regular seventh day Sabbath or Saturday, as most assume, therefore they think that He died on a Friday and without researching it everybody just went along with the assumption! Do the research, CDBJ |

190 | Question on Hymn of Invitation tradition | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 232171
Greetings, Asking Jesus to come into one’s heart is like inviting Christ into a sewer. Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? It seems as though in most of the churches and services today that people are being ask to jump through man’s psychological hoop in order to be saved; the Word of God establishes the guide lines not man!!!!! The bigger one then this is, “asking God to forgive you”; who knows where they dug this up from but is sure isn’t found in the Word of God. Jesus said the following, Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. The word repent is from the word, METANOEO in the Greek and it’s a compound word meaning to “change” one’s “mind” about the person of Christ and who He is. The most common denominator is found in the following verses and it’s the reason for the whole gospel of John. John 20:30-31 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. The problem now days resides in the confusing word “believe”, i.e. PISTEUO in the Koine Greek of the New Testament. One can’t just give mental assent to the person of Christ that He existed and have eternal life; they must completely place “all of their hopes for eternal life” is the “finished work” that Christ did for them on the cross. If “anything is added” to this faith alone in Christ alone, for all intent and purposes they aren’t truly saved. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast. The gift of God is eternal life which is given freely to those that have the son residing in them. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Here is the statement that settles it all. 1 John 5:10-13 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Greetings and welcome to the forum. What in your estimation would make it seem wrong? You might want to consider the following. Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 18:27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Have a great day and I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

192 | Baptizedwithoutproperintentions | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 232217
Welcome to the forum. I was “baptized” when I was a baby but according to Scripture was it really baptism? Just because someone sprinkled a little water on me and pronounced a few words that are mentioned in the Bible that doesn’t constitute real water baptism. Look what the prerequisite for baptism is in the book of Acts. Acts 8:35-39 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Notice what was ask of the one who of “his own free will” believed in Jesus. Again he wasn’t baptized because of what someone else believed but what he himself personally believed. The one being baptized asked this question; “what doth hinder me to be baptized?” The only hindrance before one can be truly baptized is personal faith alone in the person of Jesus Christ. Philip said,” If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. I would assume that the eunuch had water with him because one doesn’t venture out into a desert without it, yet the Bible says they both needed to go down into the water, which suggest how one is to be baptized, i.e. total submersion, which is how it was done. I was, later in life, actually baptized the real way, after I thoroughly trusted in Jesus as my own personal Saviour this required being “buried” with Him in baptism. I hope this helps and that you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

193 | Can anyone explain Mat 24:15? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 232770
That is well established in II Thess 2:3-10 but most American’s have been convinced contrary to the teachings of Christ and Paul. They have been duped into believing that they won’t see these things happen and that the Church won’t have to endure any persecution from the antichrist. This is also referred to as Daniel’s 70th week and the time of Jacobs trouble. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-10 (KJV) 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. The day spoken of is the return of Christ for His Church. NOTICE the first words of the verse both here and in Matt. 24:4 Don’t let anyone deceive you into thinking differently. Pick up a book called (The Rapture Question Answered) By Van Kampen it's a real eye opener! I hope this helps, CDBJ |

197 | A devo topic that challenges you think | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 233500
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Here is a topic that will challenge your knowledge of Bible doctrine but might shatter some previous beliefs in the process if you take it serious. The topic of discussion is eschatology which takes basically four different avenues of deliberation. All four of these directions can’t be right yet the four “different” aspects are held by some of the most devoted individuals in the faith of the past several thousand years. Using all of the Scriptures that are dedicated to this topic try to come up with an answer where one of the four works in all cases within the realm of all the verses contained in God’s Word. The four basic versions are as follows, pertribulational, midtrib. posttrib, and prewrath. They can’t all be right! You better do a lot of praying and exercise the use of 1st Jn. 1:9 before each study cession. Yours in Christ, CDBJ |

198 | Mark's Gospel why passion narrative imp | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 233751
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Right from the get go in the gospel of Mark one would be at a great advantage just understanding what the word gospel means. The word gospel and how it ties with the passion of Christ is wrapped up in the original language of the New Testament. i.e. the Koine Greek. The word originally used was the word EUANGELION and the clearest meaning in the English is literally the (GOOD NEWS). The next question should be the good news about what, and that is that God has sent His Christ or actually His appointed one. Now we have to ask, the appointed one for what, and the answer is found back in the book of Isaiah chapter 53. Isaiah 53:1-12 (ASV) 1 Who hath believed our message? and to whom hath the arm of Jehovah been revealed? 2 For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and Jehovah hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due? 9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. The key to what Jesus did as the appointed one is found in the 10th verse of the chapter. Isaiah 53:10 (ASV) 10 Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand. It actually pleased God the Father to punish His own Son because the Son was paying the price that God demanded for (OUR SIN). Now that’s good news, Jesus has already paid the price so I can live forever in heaven with God and that price is imputed to everyone who will put their complete trust in what Jesus did for them and not trust in their own works, God gives eternal life as a GIFT, but it must come through faith in God’s Son! When we work for salvation it is like wages, we earn it but a gift is free. Romans 6:23 (ASV) 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. It’s strictly by believing in the FINISHED word of Christ that we can know we have eternal life as a gift. All those that put their hope in Jesus, God gives them the Son. Notice how the good news of Mark plays out in the following because of the passion of Christ. 1 John 5:10-13 (ASV) 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son. 11 And the witness is this, that God gave unto us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life. 13 These things have I written unto you, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, even unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

Greetings, You should learn the same lesson that Martin Luther learned “Feelings come and feelings go, And feelings are deceiving; My warrant is the Word of God Naught else is worth believing. Though all my heart should feel condemned For want of some sweet token, There is One greater than my heart Whose Word cannot be broken. I'll trust in God's unchanging Word Till soul and body sever, For, though all things shall pass away, HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!” Martin Luther There is a great booklet that you can send for and it’s free and covers the topic of tongues as it is discussed in the Bible. I hope you are open and able to profit from it as I have. http://www.rbthieme.org/Publications/tongues.html CDBJ |
