161 | how did God use davids sins of adultery | Psalm | glory777 | 22468
gloria177- This may not be the answer you are looking for, but I think, if nothing else, when he realized his sins, he wrote out his heart that we can identify with a loving God who can forgive anything. Here David is, the apple of God's eye, sinning against one of the 10 commandments, the one who trusted in God since a youth to deliver him, now wavering in his trust in the Lord only. Yet He shows us how God is always faithful and how we should remain faithful and always love and praise Him. Sometimes we cannot see how God works through circumstances immediately, but His work can be seen and circumstances can be used even thousands of years later. Blessings to you- Debbie |

162 | Would Isaiah 53 help Jews and Muslims? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 22294
Welcome and blessings- When Christ was on earth in His physical body, the Jews were looking for a king - they chose to look only at the verses that showed Messiah as a conquering hero. They are still under oppression and the arrival of a Person bringing peace and justice to the world and recognizing them as His chosen people is what is more appealing than a suffering servant. Their eyes were blind then, pray that their eyes will be opened now. Peace in Jesus' name. Debbie |

163 | Releases from tithing 10 per cent? | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 22175
Johnny - I also am born-again. And as a reader of the Bible, I see no where that you have to give a certain percentage to "go to Heaven". We all know that the only thing you have to do is to believe that Jesus is Lord and died for our sins, repent and ask Him into our hearts. But we are talking about pleasing Him, not receiving our salvation. Jost to clarify for those who do not understand the way to the Lord. Debbie |

164 | Where is the line? | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 22173
Johnny- I don't believe that prayon is saying that unless you tithe you are not righteous. I think what sheis saying is that it is a very good guideline. We are released from the law of Moses (Levitical law), but there are good guidelines in it. No, we don't have to keep holy the Sabbath, but it is good to have one day of the week to focus on God and give Him honor. And no, we don't have a dietary law, but it is good to fast with prayer also. I believe that if you are prayerfully considering what to give to the church, what Jesus commended (not COMMANDED), would be over 10 per cent (considering the widow's mite), but I don't see too many people giving all of their yearly income to the church! The amount mentioned most often in scripture is 10 per cent, so as a guideline, I would recommend it. Debbie |

165 | Is there middle ground? | Romans | glory777 | 21772
Nolan- But to what point? If Christ died for the sins only of the elect - how do we know who is the elect? We have to share the gospel, regardless, and know that the Holy Spirit causes conviction and draws people to make a commitment, we don't, and it doesn't matter because our job is to spread the Good News to all we come in contact with. If Christ's blood covered the sins of the whole world, what does it matter - we are to do the same anyway. The only difference would be if we KNEW who the elect was so we could only witness to them (and not waste out energy and time on the others) - but then, if Christ died only for THEIR sins, wouldn't they come to the knowledge without our help? Too complicated for me- I just know that MY job is tell the gospel when I can and to be thankful that the Lord gave me the opportunity to hear it and the Holy Spirit for causing me to realize how much I needed Jesus' blood to cover me! God bless you, brother! Debbie |

166 | Women teaching or in authority | 1 Timothy | glory777 | 21632
Nolan- Seems to me that Mary was a very common name in those days, just as Jesus was. Unless specified, we can't KNOW that she was the adulteress who was forgiven. I agree that she was probably a different Mary altogether and the fact that it says that she was with the other women, followers and supporters of Jesus puts her with a group of women who would probably have lost their physical appeal on the street corner! (Sorry to all of you in that age group - myself incuded!) I don't think we are to add to scripture what it doesn't say. But she is such an example that no matter where we come from in life, Jesus can forgive, deliver, save and use us - no matter what age or social circumstance. Debbie |

LizzieL- I have not read the books, but I know that witchcraft is alive and well in the world. I live in a small town in the MIdwestern U.S. and I know there are practicing covens near. If power is not coming from God, it is coming from another source and that is not from God. When we portray witches, warlocks, even devils as cute, innocent, playful or funny, we are taking away the reality and playing right into their hands. Be aware. May God grant you wisdom in this matter and open your husband's eyes to the truth. Debbie |

168 | Magicians, frogs, blood? | Ex 8:7 | glory777 | 21290
Greetings and blessings to you, VillaSanJuan! It is not an easy journey, following Jesus, but well worth it. Tim, I think I also agree with Ed that it could have had a lot to do with Satan wanting to eliminate the Jews and so empowered the magicians. He knew Jesus would be born of the Jews and all through history he tried to stop that from happening, from Herod killing the baby boys, through Jesus' temptation up to His death. If he could keep Pharoah from letting the Israelites go, all of the future would have been changed. Good possibility, don't you think? Debbie |

169 | Muselim Religious | Eph 2:8 | glory777 | 21285
Schwartzkm- The growth of numbers of religions differing from Christianity shouldn't be a surprise. I know that Christianity is spreading at a great pace, also. However, Jesus stated that there would be few that would enter the "narrow gate", and we know that means even those who call themselves Christian but do not know the true meaning of the word. I count myself blessed to be given that faith to receive Jesus as my Savior and it is up to us to show people what it means to be a true Christian - even though we will never be the majority and it may mean all kinds of persecution in these days and in the days to come. Keep walking in faith, brother. Debbie |

170 | WHY COULDN'T THE RIGHTEOUS | Heb 13:2 | glory777 | 20549
dltlshines- I can't help but think, when in the presence of our King, the things that we do for good will seem so trivial to us before Him, that it will be He who will call them to our mind. What a wonderful God we have. Debbie |

171 | What is "burst asunder" in Acts 1:18 ? | Acts 1:18 | glory777 | 20547
mncc- Remember in Matt. 27:5 scripture also says he hung himself. This is not contradictory. After he hung himself, either the rope broke, or in the process of cutting him down, as he fell his body burst open, either from falling on sharp objects or because it was a while before they found him hanging. 172 | dose it say we can fly other planets | Ps 8:3 | glory777 | 20477
Hi Jessie- I don't know of any place where it says, literally , we can fly to other planets. David was meditating on God through the means of looking at His creation. All of these things were made through the awesome power of God and we know the creation is so much less than the Creator. Adam originally was given dominion over it all until he gave it away through sin. The verses 5 through 8 are referring to Jesus (Heb. 2:6). So by considering (meditating) an all creation, seeing God's power and His goodness to us, we will come to greater love and awe of Him. Blessings- Debbie |

173 | What do the wings symbolize in dan 7:6 | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 20414
i don't have a clue- How do you know that the wings of the lion symbolize the USA? I have read that the images given to Daniel in chapter 7 showed the same chain of events as in the second chapter. The lion symbolized Nebuchadnezzar - the removal of his wings was when God brought him down because of his pride. (A winged lion was also the national symbol of Babylon). The lopsided bear symbolized the Medo-Persian empire and the leopard represented Greece. I'm not sure what the symbolism is for the wings, other than, knowing the wings in the first image were removed to cause debasement so I am guessing they may symbolize the feelings of the Greece dominance that they were invincible. 176 | How old is the earth scripturally? | Gen 1:1 | glory777 | 19396
Phillip You know, it is a good thing you can take what God says as literal so often. Otherwise, Jesus could have been in the tomb for centuries, and, in my few years on this earth, I would still be working nonstop because it would still be Monday! And do you know how bad Jonah would have smelled by now being in the belly of a big fish all this time? If you can accept timeframes for all of these, why is it so hard to believe in the time frame for God's creation as shown in Genesis? Break down part of the Word, and you start to erode it all. Keep your faith, my friend. I would, and have, suggested people visit ICR.org to get more information on the truths of Genesis. They are scientist who are Christians first and start their investigations based on the theory that God's word is true - not that evolution is true, and how can we adjust God's word to it. Bless you- Debbie |

177 | Was Moses and Aaron's request reasonable | Exodus | glory777 | 19119
After checking into this a little further, I found that cows were held as sacred to the Egyptians and it would have been an affront to them to have a cow sacrificed. Debbie |

178 | Why do some pastors disobey Jesus? | Matt 19:9 | glory777 | 19090
anjao- God instituted the joining of two persons, male and female with the intentions that they never be separated. Malachi states God hates divorce. At the time there were two groups of thought on the subject of divorce. One school of thought held that divorce could take place for any reason. Jesus stated which reason was an acceptable reason, not that if a person (husband or wife)is caught in infidelity that they should automatically divorce. If the marriage can be maintained, if forgiveness and a true state of repentance can be achieved, the marriage should be continued. Debbie |

180 | Was Moses and Aaron's request reasonable | Exodus | glory777 | 18954
ronscarpet- I think there might have been some duplicity in the request. First, if they were away under the pretext of holding a festival, it would have bought them some time. Secondly, Egypt had different gods that were worshipped and the way they were worshipped were vastly different then the way the Jews worshipped the Lord. Pharoah was considered a god to the Egyptians and to worship Jehovah would have been an affront to the Egyptians. This is just conjecture and I may be wrong, but it could be possible. I do know that the Egyptians didn't think much of sheep (Joseph told his brothers to tell Pharoah that they were cattlemen, remember?) and to see sheep being sacrificed could have caused some problems, even having sheep in the area of the Egyptians could have caused difficulties.
