81 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | glory777 | 59745
Vannessa- There has been slavery since way before Christianity. Who built the pyramids? Egyptians loved their Hebrew slaves. Just one of many examples B.C. Debbie |

82 | divorce negates marriage? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59743
I am going to take a stab at this. I think that the offended spouse, if the reason for the divorce was because of her spouse's infidelity, is not obligated to receive the other, should they decide to return. If the injured spouse would choose to remarry, it would be permitted. However, I believe it is in Malachi 2:16 where it is stated "I hate divorce" so if it is possible for the one injured to forgive and to be able to trust again to return to the marriage. If after the divorce, one or the other remarried someone else or had an affair, it would be considered fornication so the marriage would be broken. I do know that even in cases that look hopeless, marriages can be rebuilt stronger than ever. A person I know had her husband cheat on her after 18 years of a marriage that she thought was "ideal". She was in an apartment and was ready to sell her house when she decided to give her husband the forgiveness he sought. I can report their marriage is now as strong as it ever was, if not stronger. But it takes a brokeness on both sides for it to succeed. Debbie |

83 | Your best argument against evolution? | Genesis | glory777 | 59742
Vannessa- Go to www.icr.org. It is the institute for creation research. If they don't have the answer there, it wasn't asked! First, though, you have to know what the opposition has for an argument for evolution. It takes a greater leap of faith to believe that out of nothing can come a giant explosion to form something. And then, by chance, certain protiens, etc. come together and mingle just right with other stuff to start life. Anyway, they have the answers to questions that could be asked and counters to anything anyone could come up with to be pro-evolution. STAND STRONG, GIRL! Debbie |

84 | Is it a sin for women to wear pants? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59564
What a person wears is not stated, only that the "women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation...." in 1 Timothy 2:9. The whole point being, women should not dress in such a way as to bring unwholesome (?) attention to themselves. Debbie |

85 | Isn't every word of God vital to us? | Rev 17:16 | glory777 | 59562
Pastor Glenn- Every word in the bible is important, but people can get so caught up in what I call "revelation theory" at the expense of what Is known. If, by chance, it were so about the kings, what would it profit us? It would give us knowledge, but would it affect our day to day living? Would it spur us into being more diligent in presenting the gospel? I don't think the Lord wants us to work for Him out of fear. I don't think He wants people to come to Him out of fear. There has been speculation that the major countries forming the European Union (?) were the kings prophesied, and, as I said, HItler as antichrist. But if we go around espousing these as facts, we would end up discrediting ourselves in the eyes of the world. Now, I know I just opened myself up to another whole can of worms, but in order to get others to know we are beleivable, we have to stay creditable. By the way, I don't think al-quida has enough clout for any 10 to be considered kings. Maybe I don't read enough of the news, but there are other countries that have more respectability and visibility and downright power that would have to be in the group, in my opinion only, of course. (I was a revelation junkie at one time. But ask me what the Father was like and I couldn't give you much of an anwer then either!) Bless you- Debbie |

86 | Where is the Loving God???? | Gen 1:26 | glory777 | 59510
inheavenseyes- Yes, God is a God of Love. He loved us so much that He will not force us to love Him and He gave us free will. It was man's choice that allowed evil to come into this world and it is our choice to believe that Jesus died for our sins. It is our choice to rest on the promises He gives us (I will never leave you nor forsake you ...my peace I give to you, etc.). We also don't know the eventual outcome of many of the tragedies, but I do know that God can take the worst situations and cause them to work for His good and His plans. Look at the Columbine shootings. I understand because of the faith of the one girl, so many were brought to salvation. In areas where persecution is highest, faith in Christ is growing by leaps and bounds. Those who are believers are tried and made stronger by bad situations - it is a time to rely more on God. I also believe hard times happen so the Lord gives us opportunities to grow in faith so we can be there to help others who are going through similar situations. Hope this helps, some. Sometimes, what it takes is not so much "Words of Wisdom" but a shoulder to lean and cry on. Love in Christ- Debbie |

87 | Can these Ten Kings be "Al-Qaeda"? | Rev 17:16 | glory777 | 59509
Are there ten leaders in Al-qaeda? I thought they represented real leaders of real countries or regions? And does it really matter? How would we know for sure? There were people who thought Hitler was the Antichrist. I think the main thing for us to focus on is that the end times could happen at any time and to get the gospel out to as many people as possible as if today is our last day and to keep looking for the return of the King with anticipation. Speculation will do nothing for the Kingdom - action w/prayer will! Peace in Christ to you- Debbie |

88 | Proverbs 30 meaning? | Proverbs | glory777 | 59508
According to the notes in the Spirit filled life Bible, Agur's identity is unknown as is the author of Prov. 31. The verses with three...four is a rhetorical means of indicating that the lists are not intended to be exhaustive of their respective subjects. In other words, just a poetic form of giving examples that could go on and on. Peace in Jesus- Debbie |

89 | Why r some people mentally ill? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59134
Makarios gave some good examples for you. However, I do not discount the idea that demonic possesion is not a part of some of the cases today. Of special concern are those that have dabbled in the occult - which our culture in the U.S. seems to be promoting and making it seem innocent. I do think there are more than some would want to think and less than some would have you think. But the best answer on a general scale could be answered with the question "why do some people have heart disease, etc.?" God's peace. Debbie |

90 | Feel so lonely and down over this burden | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59133
Mae64- Don't make any hasty decisions aobut church attendance right now. When under stress, you don't know ir it will be the right one. Keep attending. Look to God. Then I would find out if the pastor even knew about the situation. Call him. Talk to him. Tell him your feelings. It sounds as if you have some caring people in your church. Are there any of them you could ask to pray with you and open your heart to? If after all this, you still feel that your pastor was not there when the need was so great and that he could have been, maybe it is time to look around. But give it time! Pray! Forgive! And then look at the situation when the times have evened out and they will even out. Remember, when we are the weakest and feel we are at the end of the rope, we see find it is Jesus holding on to the other end. He will give you strength. We may not see HIs hand now, but we will later. God bless you and give you peace. Debbie |

91 | Straight answer about tithe. | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 58218
kalos- But weren't there things just understood, either by inspiration of the Holy Spirit or tradition that is never specifically stated in the bible? How did Abraham know to give a tithe to Melchesidek (sp) and as far as that goes, how did Abraham know what was "clean" and "unclean" as to offering sacrifices to the Lord - or Job for that matter? The sacrifices were paid in full by the Lord Jesus, but as far as the "guideline" for giving, the tithe - or tenth- if applicable in the O.T. and not specifically denounced in the new, would be a fair amount. Again, it is also a matter of the heart. If you feel you are forced to give that amount - keep it. If you feel you should give more, by all means go for it. I just think sometimes it is a matter of people wanting to hold on too tightly to things that are not theirs to start out with. It has been shown in polls that as income goes up, what is given to churches goes up at a much lesser level. I think that is saying something. Debbie |

93 | diversity of languages? | Gen 10:5 | glory777 | 58202
When the sons of Noah moved away, this verse says they had different languages. I thought that didn't happen until Babel? I know everything fits, but this has me stumped. Debbie |

94 | Releases from tithing 10 per cent? | 2 Cor 9:7 | glory777 | 58201
I am not sure. I know He loves me just as much as He loves the worst sinner - Christ gave His life for us both, so no matter what I give to the Lord, He will love me. I also know that there are different crowns (real or figuratively can be debated) for service done in this life. Our works will be rewarded although salvation is not one of the rewards. So I am proposing that a tithe is a good guideline, but if possible, to go over as much as your heart takes you. Notice, I did not say "mind". My mind would tell me "I might need this extra money - food, time, fill in the blank! Sometimes, we have to go out on faith knowing the Lord will supply all our needs. I have a question for you- Is the Lord displeased if we don't bring followers to Him? Is he really pleased with men like Billy Graham (you know what I mean) and displeased if we don't "muster up" to Billy's volume? Or does he see the heart? Debbie |

95 | IS TONGUES FOR TODAY? | 1 Cor 14:5 | glory777 | 57240

96 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | glory777 | 56879
Hank- just to let you know- It has probably been so long since you have been baptized- After 7 years of rededicating my life to the Lord-after 20 years of being born again - I finally was baptized on the 23rd of June, 2002. When I came out of the water, all I could do was exult in the fact that Satan, the accuser of the saints, could no more stand before the throne of God and say "Look at her - she won't even be baptized! She won't make a public show of obedience to You!" And he can't try to hit ME over the head with that fact! One more step on the road to accepting the freedom Christ bought for me. Praise His name! 97 | Can anyone answer these simple questions | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 48411
luvconquers- It is a shame what atrocities are done in the name of religion - not just Christianity but all religions. But you have to look at the fruits of what people are doing to see how they stand in their faith. Christ preached love, God is a God of love and justice, patience and longsuffering. You have to read His word and look at the recurring theme. He sent His only Son to die the most horrible of deaths so you and I could stand righteous before Him, if we accept the sacrifice He made. We are to be like Him. He loved us, no matter what. Can we do anything less to others? Anyone that teaches or acts any different is not true to the Word of God or to what Jesus taught. It is their works that will tell you if they are true to what they confess to be. I am a Christian. I try to mold my life after Christ's. I am also human and fail, but I repent of my failures and, with God's help, will come a little closer to where God wants me to be tomorrow. I do know, the promises He makes me in His word are true. He gives peace. He gives joy. He gives strength. And He gives the ability to forgive. He also gives the ability to love - no matter what is done to me, and in being able to pray for and love (now I did not say "like"!), I have found my perception of others has changed. I don't know if this helps. I wish I could talk to you. But your bitterness and anger will only grow like fire. Those were not Christian you were talking about, but Satan sure used them to get you and others to question and rail at those who are. Just what he wanted. If I can help, please E-mail me at the address given in my profile with "forum" in the subject line. I pray that God will show Himself to you for what He truly is. I pray that He will give you peace and love and the joy that only He can give, for He is the author of it. Debbie |

98 | Being saved by heavenly hosts scriptures | Acts 12:7 | glory777 | 47802
I remember another instance and I don't know if it was Elijah or Elisha that when in the beginning of a battle, his servant was so afraid when he saw the enemy. The prophet asked the Lord to open his servant's eyes and he then could see the angels standing ready for battle to fight against the enemy. Does someone know the book-chapter for that? Debbie |

99 | is masterbation a sin explain thxs | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47773
SERENETIME- I can't figure out what the big question is here. God made man and woman to complement each other. He also states it is better to marry than to burn (with passion). There is nothing saying anything that solo sex is alright or an alternative. It also gives guidelines for not having sex with your spouse. There are cravings the body has and if let loose can gain control. The Lord always leaves a way out - usually prayer and turning to him. Sexual pleasure was made for one thing - to bring a man and wife closer together and for propagation. That is the ONLY place sex is acceptable. And yes, the bible says it is sin, not specifically, but it doesn't have too. Not for someone who truly wants to follow the Lord's will and not look for a way out of it. Debbie |

100 | Difference between tithes and offerings | Acts 11:29 | glory777 | 47388
New Creature- My suggestion- Ten percent of pre-tax amount. Anything else is an offering. As you said, anything we have is from the Lord. So don't forget to tithe your talents and time also (or maybe just make them an offering, also! - Either way, you know the Lord will bless you for it.). Blessings to you- Debbie |
