101 | Debbie What language did the they speak? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47386
I am sorry, Searcher. I think that was beneath you. As I stated before, this is a subject we will never agree on, but I know I am not alone in my beliefs. I also do not force them on anyone. Nor do I try to humiliate anyone because of theirs. Debbie |

102 | Debbie What language did the they speak? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47356
I believe it was a Chinese dialect. And we know Paul spoke in tongues by 1 Cor.14:18. And who is to say he didn't speak in more than one kind of tongue? I do not know what tongue it is that I have. But I do know that when I am praising God, sometimes you run out of words, "Holy" can only be repeated so many times and I believe I am also giving Him praise in this way. If I am in agony over a prayer concern, sometimes words seem so inadequate. Then I am grateful for tongues. And again, it is prayer that, because I do not understand what is being prayed, I am not letting my own "wants" come into it. But you know all this. Carry 1 Cor.13:14 on one more verse. Love you in Christ- Debbie |

103 | Anti Christ? Is America Babylon or Iraq? | Daniel | glory777 | 47140
farout- Many of his books have come out way before the Left Behind books were ever published. Also, the majority of the information he uses is also agreed with by Pastor John Hagee and many others. If we can not glean information by studies others have done, why bother with asking anyone anything? As I said, you have to check things out for yourself. Even those who have studied things in the New testament cannot agree on everything, let alone prophesies that involve future events. I say, go to different sources for information and ALWAYS check back with what the Bible says and use that as your bedrock. Debbie |

104 | For Ed B. | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47116
EdB- One other thing. You can give because you are required to until you are blue in the face. If you give 1 per cent begrudgingly you might as well keep it. And if you give because you want to get something back - keep it. If you give joyfully, rejoicing that the Lord has blessed you with what is His and ask Him to multiply what you have given for His glory you will see results of your giving. 2 Cor. 9:7 states God loves a cheerful giver. I love the word for "cheerful." Strong's gives it as hilaros. Does it ring a bell? Do we give hilariously? Debbie |

105 | Is speaking in tongues for today? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47115
Searcher- You know I am Pentecostal and I am not saying a person is not Christian nor filled with the Holy Spirit if they don't speak in tongues. But I believe Corinthians states "tongues of men or angels". I have heard of people speaking in tongues and having a person from another country that they have never been to understanding what was being said. I speak in tongues, but I have never felt led to use it publicly and it is not just for display. It is used for my own personal prayer life and if ever a time in history that personal edification was needed, today is just as needful as 1900 years ago. This subject has been gone over and over so many times in the forum. There are those who believe in them, and those who don't and only when the Lord comes, when they aren't needed anymore, will the REAL truth come out! Peace in Christ- Debbie |

106 | DID JUDAS EAT , DRINK THE LAST SUPPER | John 13:30 | glory777 | 47108
Searcher gave you a good lead to follow. As you read scripture, What really struck me, was that not only was he allowed to partake of the Passover with the Lord Jesus, but Jesus, knowing what he would do, also washed Judas' feet. What an example for us. Debbie |

107 | Anti Christ? Is America Babylon or Iraq? | Daniel | glory777 | 47107
1.According to Tim Lahaye's book "Revelation Unveiled", the antichrist will be Gentile of the Mediterranean area and part Greek (Rev. 13:1; Daniel 8:8-9). He will be predominantly Roman (Daniel 9:26)and Daniel 11:36-37 speaks of him that he regards not the "God of his fathers". So he will have a Jewish background. This is speculation and I would not stake my life on it. No one knows for sure - only God. 2. Babylon was in Iraq. I think I read somewhere that Iraq is trying to rebuild it. Don't quote me on that one. Keep looking up! Debbie |

108 | Salvation through Jesus alone? Help!!! | Rom 10:9 | glory777 | 47103
shabbyshied- I was a Catholic also and manyof my family remain so. But I know that Abraham was not a Catholic and he was named righteous because of his belief. Roman 10:9 says that if you believe and confess you shall be saved. Roman 3:22-24 Eph 2:8-9 also stress the point that is faith in Jesus alone that gives salvation. But I think my favorite is Ephesians 2:8-9. Whatever WE do is works and works does not save. Blessings- Debbie |

109 | Does the bible refer God's word as the " | 1 Pet 2:2 | glory777 | 47098
Kanomy-I don't recall scripture calling the Word of God as daily bread, but it does refer to it as milk (1 Peter 2:2) and reference again to God's Word as food in Hebrews 5:12-6:5. Also Psalm 110:103 speaks about how sweet the Words of the Lord are. So, although I don't recall anything about it being called, specifically, daily bread, the word of the Lord is something to be savored, develope a palate for and will cause us to grow and be nourished by daily consumption. God's blessings- Debbie |

110 | what does the scripture 1 Thes 4:16 mean | Phil 1:23 | glory777 | 44215
muffie- When the rapture occurs, we will not all be dead. The sisters and brothers who have died in the past will have their bodies transformed and leave the graves to join with their souls. Then those who are alive will also join the Lord (their bodies transformed in the process I believe). The Lord created us to have bodies, along with our souls, and I believe He intends for us to have bodies as a complete being, just as Jesus does now, only transformed as His is. Those who are dead and died "in Christ" are with Him, only not their bodies. At the judgement seat of God, rewards will be given. If you read throughout Paul's letters, he talks of crowns. There is the soul-winners' crown, etc. I think these are the rewards that are given and the judgements that are given to those who have been covered by the Blood. Their sins will not be seen for they are not there. Those who have not accepted Jesus will be judged according to God's standard of righteousness, and of course, without the covering of Jesus' blood will be found guilty. Debbie |

111 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43147
So you are saying that if someone does not keep the Sabbath they are to be put to death? Will they go to Hell, too? Sounds a little severe to me. debbie |
||||||
112 | why was it three days? | Job | glory777 | 43145
Not a very sound answer, biblically, but why did God choose to make the world in 6 days and not in one? He could have, you know. God is God and we are not and there are some things we will never know - until we can ask Him face to face! Blessings debbie |

113 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43143
And fulfil it He did. And if you choose to follow Jewish tradition of having your day of rest on Saturday, so be it. But if you make it a demand that one day is the day you have to, you are throwing out the verse in Colossians about observing days, etc. How do you reconcile that verse with making Saturday or Sunday such a major issue? Or is that verse, built upon the freedom the Lord puchased for us through His blood, to be ignored? What was the purpose of giving us the Sabbath? For our benefit! God knew we needed one day in 7. Not that a particular named day was the only one to benefit us. Because we believe in Christ, we can have our day in 7 as the Lord's day - Sunday. For those who are of Jewish faith and do not believe in Christ - tradition and OT command is still binding as Saturday. I choose to honor my Savior by participating in group worship on the day He arose and the days He reappeared to His disciples and also sent the Holy Spirit. I don't think when I appear before Him, that He is going to condemn me for worshipping on ANY day! Praising God Always! Debbie |

114 | Dress (clothing) at church? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43072
i have never seen a dress code in the bible (unless you were a Levitical priest!) but I believe it is a sign of respect for being in the house where the King is worshipped. Necessary - no. And if you are doing it to impress people, you are failing to come into His presence with the right attitude to start out with! Debbie |

Elder - So what do you believe happens if you do not keep the Sabbath Debbie |

117 | Who made Sunday a day of worship | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43067
That's right - Jesus did keep the Sabbath - as a perfect fulfilment of all the Law - so we don't have to. We are now under a higher law - to fulfil it in heart. We do not need to do all the things that the pre-Christ Jews had to do, He did it for us. Debbie |

118 | Lord of the Sabbath is he not | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43064
joe- Something mulling in my mind....Could it be that the first two commandments deal with our relationship with the Lord and the last 7 deal with relationship with others. But the one about the Sabbath was made for us - pre-Christ when sacrifices had to be made regularly? The ultimate sacrifice was made when Christ died, therefore, a specific day is not needed anymore. Only a time to meet regularly for mutual edification in the Lord. Paul says we are not to be observers of days and festivals. I think this is the only time a commandment was contradicted. Debbie |

119 | Lord of the Sabbath is he not | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 42930
But not as a command to us. Jesus came to fulfil ALL the the Law and keeping the Sabbath was the Law. However, He broke tradition by allowing His hungry disciples to eat on the Sabbath (as did David), and also by healing and teaching. We are told, in the new testament to observe the other commandments (reference made directly to each) except for the one referring to the Sabbath (on a particular day) but only not to neglect meeting with other believers.
120 | violence in old testament ,justify | OT general | glory777 | 42706
chickoo- It is justifiable in order to keep the Jewish nation alive. Look at the world today. There is still every effort made to destroy the Jewish people as there has been throughout history. God wanted His people preserved, untainted. Throughout the bible you can see how living with other nations often caused them to intermarry, to adopt other customs and to begin worshipping false idols. There is a reason for everything God does, even if we do not see it now. Debbie |
