101 | This is from the feeding of the multitud | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 82728
Hi Fran- I don't believe the bible tells us the significance of there being 12 baskets left, but it has crossed my mind, too. When God chooses to bless, He can bless abundantly! Obvious proof to each of the disciples, and yet even with all that, one would choose not to follow. Peace in Christ- Debbie |

Fran- Sorry, my mind mind jumped ahead of my eyes - I hadn't really thought about it being for the tribes, but I had thought about it being proof to the 12 disciples. Now maybe my former note will make sense. Debbie |

103 | PLEASE EXPLAIN MATTHEW 19:8 | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 82730
amenbob- Please go to quick search and type in divorce. You will find a lot of scripture verse references to help you out. I do know that God hates divorce as He states in Malachi, He is a God who forgives and wants us to be like Him, but He also has made some allowances where divorce is not condemned. Try the search, it might help. Debbie |

104 | More about the 3rd commandment please? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 85545
Good answer, inmyheart! Others verses that do not tell specifically not to use the lord's name in vain are Romans 13:14 and 1Cor. 6:17. If we put on Christ, we will talk as He talked - or do our best. and if our bodies of temples of the Holy Spirit, what comes out of our mouths should not be demeaning to the name of the Lord. I had a problem with this at one time, commonly heard sayings, like "Oh my God", that was not meant as a prayer and pieces and changes in the Lords name, like "Geez" and "Gosh". It did take time in the Word, repentence - lots -, help from the Holy Spirit and time. Old habits can be hard to break. Peace- Debbie |

108 | Dinosaurs | OT general | glory777 | 14952
Elijah- Dinosaurs could be walking the earth today. There are remote parts of the jungle in the Congo where sighting of dinosaur like creatures have been sighted, according to the Revised and Expanded Answers book. There are many legends of dragons in midieval history and in Chinese folklore. These could very well have been dinosaurs. For maore information, go to www.ICR.org. I think they may have some more answers for you. Debbie |

109 | violence in old testament ,justify | OT general | glory777 | 42706
chickoo- It is justifiable in order to keep the Jewish nation alive. Look at the world today. There is still every effort made to destroy the Jewish people as there has been throughout history. God wanted His people preserved, untainted. Throughout the bible you can see how living with other nations often caused them to intermarry, to adopt other customs and to begin worshipping false idols. There is a reason for everything God does, even if we do not see it now. Debbie |

110 | Revelation in the Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9701
Jim- First, about the facts of the gospels. There were other sources at the time that Jesus could have related His experiences to, such as his mother. And you are right, He did have time after His ressurection to relate other information. But scripture says the Word is God-breathed and inspired by the HOly Spirit (2 Tim. 3:16) and the gospels are scripture. How can you explain the fall of Lucifer? No one was there to witness it. It was given by inspiration. If these words and/or visions were given to the prophets, were they more believable than Matthew, Mark, and the others? As to creation being in the number of days that were written in scripture, I find this a lot more easier to believe than what science is trying to get us to believe. But if you question, looking to find scripture as allegorical, what parts are you going to say are just stories and not fact? Instead of trying to fit the Word to what science says happened, go the opposite way and see if science can fit God's Word. Archaelogists are finding more and more facts proving the OT stories true that they said couldn't happen. How long until they realize the "big bang" was actually a "spoken Word"? I find the temptation of Eve fascinating in this regard. She had the Word of God right with her, but she listened to the other who said He couldn't mean what He said. God bless Debbie |

112 | Multiple authors for Paul's epistles? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9818
Both of those just attribute the letter as being written by Paul. For 1 Thes.1:1 "Paul shared authorship of 1 and 2 Thess. with Silvanus and Timothy. Timothy a young Jewish understudy of Paul, also joined with Paul in the writing of 2 Cor., Pil., Col., and Philem. Silvanus, known as Silas in Acts, was a leader in the church in Jerusalem (Acts 15:22) and a prophet (Acts 15:32). Later Silvanus shared in the writing of 1 Pet. (5:12). He was therefore an associate both of Peter and Paul. I never really thought about it before, but I also think that the letters were kind of a joint effort, or at least read by the others mentioned who may have also had inspiration from God and were included. I've seen it happen in church where one will prophesy and another will add to it. Hope it helped. Deb |

113 | Revelation in the Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9847
Jim- Just one last note from me. I know that at some time I will be in front of the One who wrote the book. In giving an account of myself I would rather He knew that I believed His Word and erred because I wanted to believe in Him literally and trust every Word He said than to look and believe what every one else thought He said. The basic fact is that Jesus said the only way you can come to the Father is through Him. If I believed the parables were literal (even though Jesus and the people knew they were parables) I would be trusting in the Word in a more childlike way than those who over analyze it and take it apart to fit every other theory and scientific explanation given, or throw parts out altogether or rationalize it as nothing more than fiction because it doesn't fit what we understand. Keep searching, but more importantly, keep reading that Bible! May God open your eyes and the Holy Spirit give you understanding, for we all need more of that. Debbie |

114 | Unbelieving or lukewarm? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 14681
ren333 I am not so sure about your reference to Rev. 3:16. I think that a person can be born again but after that first love they go into neutral and just kind of sit and mold. There is still some life, but you realy have to search to find it. I think that kind of attitude makes the Lord nauseous, and although they are still His child, He is frustrated and upset by them. This is just my opinion, but it does spur me on when I think that my complacency just might cause my God to have that feeling toward me. Passion in Christ- Debbie |

116 | What do the wings symbolize in dan 7:6 | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 20414
i don't have a clue- How do you know that the wings of the lion symbolize the USA? I have read that the images given to Daniel in chapter 7 showed the same chain of events as in the second chapter. The lion symbolized Nebuchadnezzar - the removal of his wings was when God brought him down because of his pride. (A winged lion was also the national symbol of Babylon). The lopsided bear symbolized the Medo-Persian empire and the leopard represented Greece. I'm not sure what the symbolism is for the wings, other than, knowing the wings in the first image were removed to cause debasement so I am guessing they may symbolize the feelings of the Greece dominance that they were invincible. 117 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24490
Lisa- How do you know that Mary knew before hand that Jesus was going to die before He was conceived? Even the educated Jewish rabbis didn't realize it and sure didn't teach it! The apostles who listened to all that He had to teach didn't even realize what He meant until after the fact. I think if right teaching was applied here, knowing that the veil was torn in the body of Jesus, allowing us intimate access to the Father at any time, without the need of a priest or mediator, the felt need for praying through or to Mary would be eliminated. I agree, she was a model for anyone. It must have been especially painful for her, knowing that her son, whom she loved as much as any mother could love her son, had to die to save her. I think it was also to be noted that she was in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended like tongues of fire and landed over ALL the occupants of the room. I love her more because she was just like us, only more of what I would hope to be. God's blessings. Debbie |

118 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24567
Lisa- I don't think she did know or understand until it actually happened. When the magi brought the gifts, she pondered it in her heart. I think she tried to raise Him just as any other Jewish boy. I believe she tried to protect Him as she would a boy who would be a king but yet tried to let Him live a life like the other boys. Note her letting HIm be away from her in the caravan. I think she also was amazed at His brilliance with the teacher in the synagogue at 12. But it is supposition that He told her of His death before hand unless it was in the same way He told the apostles. And she may not have even took it in as reality. He couldn't die - He was Messiah - although that was probably secondary to the fact that He was her little boy. She and her other children even tried to get him out of the house He was teaching at because they didn't understand the power He had as being God. Remember, Mary was a peasant girl and probably didn't have a lot of access to the scrolls. I don't believe women in those days even had an education - only very rudimentary. So she could only know what the cheif priests told her and knew how to love God. And that love was enough. |

119 | Luke 23:24 is this request granted? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 70626
Johnny- This is a hard question. inmyheart gave some good scripture verses about it. I am thinking, though, that the reason Judas was not forgiven (if he was not forgiven) is because, although he repented of killing - indirectly- an innocent man, he did not acknowledge that Jesus was the Son of God. I think that maybe, if those who took part in the crucifixion realized who it was that they killed, repented of their actions and believed in Him, that they were saved. The man who guarded the Cross acknowledged it. I wrote a short story about this subject, seen from the eyes of a man who could have taken part in it and it is posted at Christian interactive. Just my thoughts. One of those questions that I don't think we will know for sure until we are there. Debbie |
