Just found the replies made to this question previously, but none of them satisfy. Can anyone clarify?
142 | Exodus 12:29-30 | Exodus | glory777 | 7858
This is just something to mull over, and I hope someone has a concrete answer, but I know God asks us to give to him the "first fruits" of our labor, money, all that we are. The first born (males in particular) were always considered as special, consecrated to the Lord if you were Jewish, sacrificed to other gods in heathen cultures. This was the last and the severest way God could try to get Pharoah's attention and also showed His people the strength of Jehovah and how much He loved His people.
143 | God's of Egypt relate to plagues? | Exodus | glory777 | 11575
prayon- I think it is just like God to totally show Himself supreme over any of their so-called gods by showing He had power over the lesser of their gods all the way to the one they considered the most powerful. He is a God of order and will leave no doubt about who He is. Debbie |

144 | Was Moses and Aaron's request reasonable | Exodus | glory777 | 18954
ronscarpet- I think there might have been some duplicity in the request. First, if they were away under the pretext of holding a festival, it would have bought them some time. Secondly, Egypt had different gods that were worshipped and the way they were worshipped were vastly different then the way the Jews worshipped the Lord. Pharoah was considered a god to the Egyptians and to worship Jehovah would have been an affront to the Egyptians. This is just conjecture and I may be wrong, but it could be possible. I do know that the Egyptians didn't think much of sheep (Joseph told his brothers to tell Pharoah that they were cattlemen, remember?) and to see sheep being sacrificed could have caused some problems, even having sheep in the area of the Egyptians could have caused difficulties. See the response to your other question. They are part of the same answer to this one. Debbie |

146 | Was Moses and Aaron's request reasonable | Exodus | glory777 | 19119
After checking into this a little further, I found that cows were held as sacred to the Egyptians and it would have been an affront to them to have a cow sacrificed. Debbie |

147 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | glory777 | 59745
Vannessa- There has been slavery since way before Christianity. Who built the pyramids? Egyptians loved their Hebrew slaves. Just one of many examples B.C. Debbie |

148 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | glory777 | 59901
Vanessa- I am no expert, but I think there were slaves in every people group and religion. When you read the book of Philemon, paul was writing about Onisimus who was a slave. He also addresses in other books how "masters" are to treat slaves and how slaves are to treat their masters. These are Christians he was writing to. By the way, what do they think our stand on slavery is? Debbie |

149 | God not destroy israel? | Exodus | glory777 | 70765
CMOORE- Please read Exodus 32. If it weren't for Moses interceeding for Israel, they would have been destroyed. If you read on, you will see that Moses had the calf ground up and made them drink it mixed with water. Debbie |

150 | israel true to God? | Exodus | glory777 | 70767
Please read Exodus 32. Answers are in the text. Debbie |

151 | Magicians, frogs, blood? | Ex 8:7 | glory777 | 21290
Greetings and blessings to you, VillaSanJuan! It is not an easy journey, following Jesus, but well worth it. Tim, I think I also agree with Ed that it could have had a lot to do with Satan wanting to eliminate the Jews and so empowered the magicians. He knew Jesus would be born of the Jews and all through history he tried to stop that from happening, from Herod killing the baby boys, through Jesus' temptation up to His death. If he could keep Pharoah from letting the Israelites go, all of the future would have been changed. Good possibility, don't you think? Debbie |

To all- I would beseech you in the Name of Jesus to abstain from going to this web site. We are to keep our hearts and minds pure. This site was obviously created by a person who is very sick. By going to it, we are only encouraging the person who authored it. May the God of all that is holy guard your minds and hearts. Debbie |

153 | Should we be using company computers? | Ex 20:15 | glory777 | 15427
Hi EdB- I don't have the option - I work in a factory that manufactures pistons. Definitely blue collar. But I was taught by my dad that when you get paid for a 40 hour week you work for 40 hours. If I had a desk job, it would depend on what the company policy allowed. If it took time away from work, then no. If it was OK during breaks, then yes. Relaxing at home- debbie |

154 | Can men wear earrings? | Ex 32:2 | glory777 | 71995
lwakiri- At that time, men and women wore earings and women wore noserings, etc. The men also wore dresses with not too much on underneath, it seems to me, as the Lord said in Leviticus that the priests had to make sure to wear linen trousers when ministering to the Lord. What they wore at that time has not too much bearing on today's customs. All we are told to do as far as dress and adornment is be modest. debbie |

155 | Dietary value of dietary laws? | Leviticus | glory777 | 7855
At the time of the Old Testament, I don't know if they realized that rabbits can have a worm that can cause disease in humans, but by the law prohibiting the eating of rabbit, the Israelites didn't have to worry about it. The same with pigs. If in the right (or I should say wrong) invironment, they also can, without being thoroughly cooked, cause sickness.
156 | Will keeping Law yield eternal life? | Lev 18:5 | glory777 | 11557
I think it depended on where there heart was. I take it this was in the time before Christ. If they followed the verses quoted by Jesus they could. Abraham was saved, again not by works, but by faith. He loved the Lord. By just keeping the Law, no. Even if they didn't keep the law with all it's little add-ons, if they truly loved the Lord, tried to live by the law, then, yes. Debbie |

157 | Will keeping Law yield eternal life? | Lev 18:5 | glory777 | 11625
I guess I did not make my answer understandable. Yes, it always was by faith. But when the Lord gave Moses the Law, the people were expected to try to live by it. They could not say "I have faith so I don't have to do what the law says." That would be the same as saying "I don't care what God says" and so verifies their love and respect for the Lord was not there. And as Rom. 3:20 states, the law made them aware of how sinful they were, which should bring them to a greater awareness of how they would have to depend on God's mercy and faithfulness (faith). So, keeping the law, for the right motive (faith and love for the Lord)would gain them eternal law. Keeping the law, for appearance sake or just because that was what a good jew did, gained them nothing. It all boils down to faith.
158 | Acts of God | Deut 3:24 | glory777 | 11565
Are so called "Acts of God" as in insurance policies, really from God?
159 | Acts of God | Deut 3:24 | glory777 | 11571
Nolan- I guess I meant more like tornados, floods, etc. |

160 | Is it alright to talk/pray to the dead? | Deut 18:11 | glory777 | 71991
sailordancemix- I am sorry for your loss. It is hard. 2 Samuel 18:33 tells how David mourned after the death of his son, Absolam and called out his name. I don't believe he thought that Absolam actually heard him, he was just grieving. But instead of talking to your dead, talk to God. HE will hear you and give you comfort. If your loved one died in Christ, he/she is right now worshipping Him face-to-face, and I don't know how long it would take before he would want to take his focus off of Him. May the Lord Jesus give you an extra measure of peace and may you recognize His joy in the middle of your grief. Debbie |
