141 | Why should we have what He borne? | Is 53:4 | glory777 | 32332
just- We still live in a fallen world. There is still sickness, pain and death, but not spiritually. When we have sickness, we know that our Lord has also experienced it for us and we are not holding it ourselves, but the Lord has carried it for us. In all things, we know the Lord is there with us, that we will come out stronger because He loves us. If we stand on this, He is free to do healings in our lives, ease sorrows and give comfort. What do we have without HIm and the knowledge that He has borne everything and more than we are ever asked to bear? I recently went to a funeral of a man who deeply loved and served the Lord. There was a spirit of joy that you will not find in an unbelievers funeral for the family knew he was in the presence of the Lord and they KNEW they would see him one day. There were still tears, for he will be missed, but there was joy in the Lord and faith in His promises. I hope this helps. Debbie |

142 | Adam and Eve, no fall from grace? | Gen 2:16 | glory777 | 31719
Lionstrong- This may cause more questions, but when God created Adam, didn't He make them in His image? Does God need grace? No, after the fall, that is when man needed grace. Prior to that, I agree, grace was not needed. Am I wrong? Grace is not bestowed if there is no need for it. And thank God He bestows it so generously to us who do! Blessings- Debbie |

143 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | glory777 | 31509
Robert answered correctly, but you also have to realize that, even though born again, we still have an awful lot of the old nature to overcome. That will never happen entirely until Christ returns or we are with Him. Do not judge too harshly, but if correction needs to be made, do it in love. Debbie |

144 | type of wood the cross is made of | Eph 2:16 | glory777 | 31508
I read a long time ago as a child, in a magazine, that tradition has it that it was made out of a dogwood tree, which at that time grew very tall and strong. Because the tree felt so bad about being used in that way (for our Savior's death) God changed it's growing habits to be twisted and never usable for that purpose again. It's flowers would have four petals in the shape of a cross with indentations in each to represent the nails. In the center of each would be the part that would represent the crown of thorns and would be ruddy in color for the shed Blood of Christ. I know this is not biblical, but I can never look at a dogwood flower without thinking of the sacrifice our Lord made for me. Debbie |

145 | clear conscience equal innocents? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 31507
lumarkarn- I don't believe so. I don't have scripture to back this up, unless it would be about training up a child in the way he should go..., but if a child, from when he is young is never taught that it is wrong to take others things, he will think it is alright. And I can see it in my culture (American) that the name of the Lord is used in vain so often that people don't even know what it means. Moses was given the ten commandments as a guideline so what the Hebrew people saw as "normal" around them in Egypt, they knew was not "normal" in God's eyes. When you know what is right, your conscience will let you know, but even that can become hardened to where it doesn't affect one. That is why the Bible is so good to read on a daily basis. We need the reminder in front of us, and if we start to get off track, it is there in black and white. Debbie |

146 | Consequences of premarital sex? | 1 Cor 6:16 | glory777 | 28942
Ramifications - knowing you are outside of God's will; carrying a part of that person with you and they having a part of you; memories that are inappropriate; possible disease; decreased respect for you and that partner; bringing the act of sex to a place God did not intend for it to be. Enough? God bless- Debbie |

147 | Do holy people have to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 12:30 | glory777 | 28941
Searcher- 1 Cor.14:15 does state that no one, in a group of unbelievers, should speak in tongues unless they can interpret. Although this does not specify that those indwelt by the Holy Spirit have all the spiritual gifts, it does show that you CAN have more than one. And you don't get if you don't ask. And you don't ask for the wrong reason. If you have children, you know that you get asked for A LOT! But being a loving parent, you know what is best for that child. And you know when the best time is for giving the child what is needed. Peace. Debbie |

148 | will god let angels heal? | Luke 1:13 | glory777 | 28092
ark- Not only are angels messengers, but they are warriors. An angel was sent to Daniel but said he had been delayed by the "kings of persia" until Michael came (Dan.10:13). They are also sent to protect people, but only work on God's command. They are worshippers of the Lord. Only God heals. God bless- Debbie |

149 | replies from persons or "bots"? | 1 Cor 15:10 | glory777 | 28091
Hi- I have been with the forum for a while, and if you will look at the answers given by those who answer the most, you will see that there is definitly NOT one opinion of most anything that is 100 percent agreed upon (unless you are asking about the Way for salvation!). We are all people, some with a lot of knowledge and others (like myself) with a limited amount but with hearts that want to help others to grow in the Lord. God bless you- Debbie |

151 | Do we continue to serve God after death? | Acts 3:22 | glory777 | 27528
Brian- Of course I believe itis true "The Bible tells me so". As far as what we will do to serve god after we die, I have never found any reference to it. But I think, maybe after the first thousand years after being on my face in front of His incomparable Glory I might think of something else, or maybe someone else. I know Samuel wasn't too happy about being sent back to appear to Saul. If we are talking about intercession, if there is no unhapiness in heaven, why could others who have died see the unhappiness on earth, condition of their left behind loved ones, etc., be happy? I think our service to God after death could be just to worship Him and join with the angels and sing "Holy, Holy, Holy" and I pray He will give me a better voice! Debbie |

152 | Did His star disappear for awhile? | Matt 2:2 | glory777 | 27527
Steve- I think it is true that what they first saw was an actual starw signifying the birth of Christ - a new star in the position in the sky that identified royalty born in the Hebrew house. After that, I am sure they had access to the scrolls so knew of the prophesy (weren't the Jews scattered throught the known world at that time?). As far as being led, can any one tell the exact spot a star in the sky is over? I think it must have been either an angel leading them as God sent the fire and cloud to lead the people out of Egypt, or some other phenomenon that God sent to lead them to the Savior. This would also explain why no one else saw the star after they first did. And maybe they were the only ones knowledgeable at that time to notice it in the first place. Amazing how God will show things to people who watch. God bless! Debbie |

153 | proof that Jesus is God | Col 2:9 | glory777 | 27526
Dawn- Another one is Col. 1:16-17. Also John 17:5, 24. He was referred to in the Old Testament many times also. See Proverbs 8:22, 23, 30. Peace in Christ- Debbie |

155 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24567
Lisa- I don't think she did know or understand until it actually happened. When the magi brought the gifts, she pondered it in her heart. I think she tried to raise Him just as any other Jewish boy. I believe she tried to protect Him as she would a boy who would be a king but yet tried to let Him live a life like the other boys. Note her letting HIm be away from her in the caravan. I think she also was amazed at His brilliance with the teacher in the synagogue at 12. But it is supposition that He told her of His death before hand unless it was in the same way He told the apostles. And she may not have even took it in as reality. He couldn't die - He was Messiah - although that was probably secondary to the fact that He was her little boy. She and her other children even tried to get him out of the house He was teaching at because they didn't understand the power He had as being God. Remember, Mary was a peasant girl and probably didn't have a lot of access to the scrolls. I don't believe women in those days even had an education - only very rudimentary. So she could only know what the cheif priests told her and knew how to love God. And that love was enough. |

156 | Is this the 'Complete Christian'? | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 24490
Lisa- How do you know that Mary knew before hand that Jesus was going to die before He was conceived? Even the educated Jewish rabbis didn't realize it and sure didn't teach it! The apostles who listened to all that He had to teach didn't even realize what He meant until after the fact. I think if right teaching was applied here, knowing that the veil was torn in the body of Jesus, allowing us intimate access to the Father at any time, without the need of a priest or mediator, the felt need for praying through or to Mary would be eliminated. I agree, she was a model for anyone. It must have been especially painful for her, knowing that her son, whom she loved as much as any mother could love her son, had to die to save her. I think it was also to be noted that she was in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended like tongues of fire and landed over ALL the occupants of the room. I love her more because she was just like us, only more of what I would hope to be. God's blessings. Debbie |

157 | To those of you talking about Tongues. | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 24486
Welcome Martha- First of all, tongues is nothing to be afraid of. 1Cor. 14 gives a good description of the use of tongues. Different denominations have different ideas about tongues as to whether it was for the early church or if it is for the present time also. I am Pentecostal and do believe that it is for here and now. I believe it is a gift available to anyone who is saved and asks. I believe it is not for indiscriminate use. Tongues are for private use only, in your own prayer life, and is speaking words that have no meaning to the speaker, and because of this unknowing, the Holy Spirit uses it to communicate to God prayer that is not influenced by what the "prayee" would have. As the passage in Corinthians states, the only time it should be used in a group setting is when there is one who can interpret what is being spoken. This is not to be done just randomly whenever you feel like it no matter what is going on in the service, no one takes control of you, you are in control of when the gift is used, and it should be used when the time is called for. Again, I stress the fact that you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved. Anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and has accepted His as their personal Savior, repenting of their sins, is just as saved as the one who speaks in tongues, no more and no less. God Bless you in the name the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Debbie |

158 | Please help me to find this out for this | Luke 1:27 | glory777 | 23580
I would go with the idea that Jesus had half brothers. In Matthew 12, where His mother and brothers are anting to so Him and He says "Who is My mother and who is My brother?" - seeing as He meant His real mother I would think He was talking about His real brothers (or I should say half brothers). Just relatives or close friends would not have meaning in this portion of scripture. He was talking about His real family compared to His real earthly family. Do I make sense? Blessings- Debbie |

159 | Satan can't read minds | Jeremiah | glory777 | 23295
I don't believe the bible says Satan can read our minds, but he has been a student of the human race since its creation and knows our weaknesses and where to put the punch. God forgives and then forgets our sins when we repent. Satan will use anything he can to torment us, if he can get by with it. So, although it may appear he can read our minds, he is just using the same tricks he has used throughout the generations of man. Debbie |

160 | What is 666? | Revelation | glory777 | 23290
EdB- No, the bible does not mention computer chips, neither does it say that it will be written on the hand or forehead in indelible ink or tattooed. We just don't know. Even if John was shown one in his vision, how would he describe it? However, the invention of chips gives us just one more possiblility of how it could be done. Revelations also does not mention satelites and TV, but how else could people all over the world see the witnesses lying dead in the street for 3 days and then being taken up? Again, not to say that that is how it is going to be seen, but it gives us one way that it could be possible that was not available not too many years ago. Which brings me to the point - watch and pray!! More things are available in our "natural" world that makes the things written in Revelation something we can imagine happening without using a lot of imagination! Debbie |
