381 | How far can Christians go in sinning? | Heb 12:8 | glory777 | 7310
What do you mean? Before what? I don't know if that is a question about the unforgivable sin, or if you mean justifiable sin(?). Am I missing something?
382 | Examine yourselves! | 2 Cor 13:5 | glory777 | 7308
The biggest thing for me is that I find I am able to see others more in the light of how God sees them. And it is not that I succeed, but that I know I have to try. Forgiving was the hard one for me. But I find, that the more I forgive, the more I am able to forgive. Just having the Holy Spirit there, pricking my spirit, is something that I never had before I came to Jesus.
383 | Babies and young children a distraction? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7307
Nolan (and others)- I was raised in a church where the children had to sit quietly for over an hour or were threatened and taken out. Church was sober and very, very serious. I do not know of one child that grew up to enjoy being in church. It was a duty. I now belong to a church that welcomes and makes a place for the children. When church first starts we have faster praise music. The children enjoy singing their praises to the Lord. Babies are kept with their parents unless they are fussing and then we have a soundproof nursery in the back with viewing and sound. When the worship and teaching begins, along with the slower music, the young children go to children's church (4-10 years or so) and the toddlers and infants (if the parents want) go to toddlers church. The children see how much the adults love to worship and they learn that praising and worshipping God is something to look forward to.In their "church", they find learning about Jesus is something that is fun. I know it is not a distraction when small children sing praise songs and we are blessed by having conscientious parents of babies. |

384 | Salvation wihout Jesus? | Not Specified | glory777 | 7238
I have some ideas about this, but I would like other input. If a person has never had access to the gospel, would he still have a chance of going to Heaven?

386 | Is there a Heaven? | 2 Cor 5:6 | glory777 | 7210
I agree with you, and I may not have stated myself clearly. My grandson is almost three and I would be devastated not to have his smiles and kisses with me. I have mourned the absence of children with friends who have lost theirs and the only joy we can find in their absence is knowing they are in the arms of God and we will see them someday. God has a plan for each child conceived, as you know, and it is for us to nurture and care for them. May they all grow to be a blessing to God. No one has the right to take the life of a child.
387 | Sketch/profile on Joseph (Jacob's son)? | Genesis | glory777 | 7209
I read an excellent book by Chuck Swindoll titled "Joseph". It gives a lot of insight and is not a hard read. I think you would enjoy it.
388 | Is there a Heaven? | 2 Cor 5:6 | glory777 | 7147
My heart goes out to you, and I cry for your hurt. But I can't cry for the children. They are with the Lord, they were not of an age to consciously choose to do what they knew was against Him. As to the others who were older...Were they born again? That is the crucial question. If they weren't, the Bible says in John 3:3 that you have to be to go to Heaven. What is even harder, is if you don't know. I lost my mother a few years ago, and I to this day do not know if she ever came to the saving heart knowledge of Jesus Christ. I gave her the knowledge, but I never knew if she made a decision. I pray she did. And I have to ask God still to give me peace about this. And He does. I think the problem with us, is we see death through mortal eyes and not God's eyes. Our lives seem to go on and are so special to us. This world is not good, we have crime, sickness, pain and death. Actually, death is a blessing because it is taking us to be with God to be truly changed and to be all we were meant to be. Our time here is to be used serving the Lord and rejoicing in Him until He calls us to Him. If there really is a God, and we know there is, then we know that God is truth and His word is true. God says there is a Heaven, so there is. Stick close to your Bible. I found the Psalms so helpful and keep praise and worship music around you. It is so hard to rejoice at a time like this, but I found the verse Neh. 8:10 to be so helpful and the song that I had to keep playing and really worshipping to was "Shout to the Lord" by Darlene Zcheck (sp). I hope they help you. |

389 | Is 'match making' Biblical? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7143
I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I don't recall any precedent set in the Bible for the social situation we are in today. I do know that the Bible says not to be unevenly yoked, and if that means the only way you can meet someone of the opposite sex who is Christian, than go for it. Good friends are valuable. I think about the only types of matchmaking in the Bible were those done by the parents for their children, or for nations to cement their relationships (kings marrying their daughters to other kings). |

390 | Goodbye, Friends | Eph 4:29 | glory777 | 7139
Hank- I'm new to this forum, but I don't think anyone should leave because they feel they have hurt someone or caused dissension. If anything, it would be more valuable to have you stay. By knowing you were in error, you will be more sensitive to avoid it in the future. The Christian community is to be as one body. We may differ on various aspects of God's word, but as long as the main truth is agreed upon, that Jesus Christ is the son of God and is God, one part of the triune God and saved us from our sins, and that salvation comes only by admitting you are a sinner and asking God's forgiveness and Jesus to come inot your heart and be Lord of your life, (sorry about the length), we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Everyone's insight is needed, and if there is some dissagreement, it also causes people to think things through and turn to God for insight. I aggree with the others, don't leave and God Bless you. |

391 | Are we done? | 1 Pet 1:3 | glory777 | 7070
Charis- I am not an expert, but I believe that, as physical birth is at a moment in time, and the birth itself is complete, so is being born again. It happens at a deffinite moment. When Jesus says, "I stand at the door and knock" in Rev. 3:20 it is also implying a moment in time. I think at the time you admit you are a sinner, that you are so far below a perfect God and can never attain righteousness on your own, you are glimpsing the perfectness of the kingdom of heaven. As physical birth is a process of growing, so is spiritual birth. You are born, just not adult. |
