301 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | glory777 | 11553
One of the main things that is going to prevent generational trends, "curses" if you will, is studying and memorizing scripture. James 4:7 says to "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." Do not enter in where temptation is close. It is easy for the enemy to get a little barb in, and if you allow that "barb" to stay there, it can become a foothold and pretty soon a stronghold. One thing though. If you have overcome once, don't be self assured about it that it will never be a problem again. We must stay aware. Do not allow the "hook" to be placed again. It is too easy for a person with a fondness for alcohol who feels they have overcome and been freed to "show up" the enemy by brazenly going where the alcohol is. This pride can destroy the work that was previously done and allow a hook to be set even stronger. This can apply to any sin. But stand strong. Pray hard. Trust God. Debbie |

305 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | glory777 | 11511
I think today, people would call it "trends" or "bends". Characteristics that are passed down from one generation to the next. Can they be demonic? Where do the nasty things of the world come from? I believe it could be a possibility, but who is stronger, God or the devil? Rom 8:37 "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." I know I had a problem with anger and rebellion. Looking back, I see that it was a generational thing. My mother had this, and she got it from her parents. I did not want to pass this on, it was not congruent with being a follower of Christ. I had to turn the problem over to the Lord, repent of the sins, renounce any control satan had over this area of my life. I fould Scripture to counteract these area and used them, as Jesus did in the wilderness. I have seen a change. Others have seen a change. There are times when I am tempted (fewer), but I have the Word of God always with me, and anger does not control me. There are other problems that are "family" problems. Alcoholism, promiscuity, etc. I do believe, that with the power of the Holy Spirit you can overcome anything that interferes with your walk with the Lord. |

306 | What Happened To Enoch? | Gen 5:24 | glory777 | 11494
I know I am terribly outnumbered here, and I think you are probably right about Moses and Elijah. But I sure would like for it to be Enoch. I guess because I would love to have my name be the "Woman who walked with God". Can't wait to see him. Stubbornly, Debbie |

307 | Created for heaven or hell? | John 3:16 | glory777 | 11308
Proorizo- This is one of those questions that is irrelevent. Our job is not to pick straws. We are to take the gospel to the world, God knows who will receive it and who won't. We don't know, so it is not up to us to worry about it. There are other issues that can divide a fellowship but none that can destroy the fact that salvation is through Jesus Christ, unless one has a contentious purpose in mind. I disagree with some of my brothers and sisters in my own denomination over a few things, and also in other denominations, but the main thing, is that the blood of Jesus unites us as brothers and sisters. It is alright to disagree, and then let it go. If both viewpoints have been aired, let it go. Debbie |

308 | Are Enoch and Elijah The Two Witnesses? | Gen 5:24 | glory777 | 11261
Steve- In Joshua 1:1 it state "After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord...". I personally think that the two witnesses are going to be Enoch and Elijah. They are the only 2 in scripture that haven't had a physical death. However, another train of thought puts the witnesses as being Elijah and Moses as representing the Law and Prophets. Take your pick. But I put more credence on Enoch because of Heb. 9:27. |

309 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | glory777 | 11235
Steve- I can talk a good talk now, I have not had to be in a situation like this, but I hear about how the love of God is spreading in the countries where people are being persecuted for their faith. I just got a report about a small house church in SE Asia(Ibelieve it was) where Christianity is illegal. As they gathered the people together, ropes were placed around the children's necks and the parents were told to renounce Jesus or the children would be hung. The parents told their children they would see them soon in Heaven. After this, the parents were given the option again or be run over by a, we call them caterpillars. Again they refused and were singing praises to our God as they were being crushed. I understand Christianity is spreading like wildfire in that area. Or what about Cassie (?) in Littleton, CO that was shot after she told her killer that she believed in God, knowing that that would be the result? Again, that incident brought more people to the Lord than any amount of preaching probably would have. But we are talking about people who are "called". Even a person dying in agony, who shows that the Lord is His strength, could bring others to the Lord. Debbie |

310 | how can you fight evolution? | Gen 1:1 | glory777 | 11234
I have recomended this site also. I believe it also has a place where you can give them your name and address and you will get monthly newsletters about what ICR is finding out about new proofs to discredit the THEORY of evolution. Remember, it was always called "theory" and still has no positive proof to back it up. However, the Bible is being shown to be historically accurate. Isn't God awesome? His wonders never cease - looking at the animal world is enough to make us see the incredible imagination our God has. Debbie |

311 | Why Jesus prays to his Father | John 10:29 | glory777 | 11182
Isa- I have a web site you might be interested in. go to www.ICR.org They do research on what science is finding out about how truthful the bible really is in recording historical fact. In reading how sinful David, Solomon, etc. were, the one thing that they all had in common is their trust in God. It was by faith and the grace of God that caused these men to be so loved by the Lord. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works (or lack of sin, I might add) lest any man should boast" Eph 2:8-9. Abraham told Sarah to lie about being his wife, commited adultary, but it was his faith that made him righteous. Romans 4. I am so glad that I don't have to "do" anything to be righteous before my God. It makes me want to do what He would like me to do, just because He loves me. I have confidence in my future and true peace in my soul. I do pray that you will come to the same conclusion. Blessings, Debbie |

312 | Catholics and Heaven??? | Eph 2:8 | glory777 | 11179
I believe a Catholic can go to Heaven. But not by anything he can do. Not through baptism, masses, communion or other sacraments can you be saved. No one can pray to get someone else into Heaven. This is a personal decision only the individual can make. If a person, regardless of what denomination they are, realizes their sinful state, repents of it, and asks Jesus Christ to come into his heart, acknowledging that He died for their sins and asking Him to be Lord of their lives will they go to Heaven. That is the being "born again" experience Jesus talks about. Unfortunately, the Catholic church also teaches things that causes the people to lose fellowship (not salvation) with the Father. Among those is praying to Mary and saints. I don't believe that if you are a member of any particular church that it automatically gains you admission to Heaven. You have to have that personal relationship with God that only comes from being born again. |

316 | that they may be one as we are one | Mark 10:18 | glory777 | 11154
Isa- Don't go far ahead in John 17. If you stop at John 17:5 you will see He was with God the Father from the beginning, before the world. I think that puts Him in the "God" category. In John 17:22 He is talking about His followers, then and now having spiritual unity. When Jesus is accepted as Lord and Saviour, we are born into the family of God. Even we in the forum have different viewpoints on ways of worship, but we love each other as brothers and sisters in Christ because we have His Spirit. |

319 | Not Peace, But A Sword? | Matt 10:34 | glory777 | 11131
You are looking at two different kinds of peace. God's peace and man's peace. Even in turmoil, you can have God's peace, trusting in Him and knowing that there is no hurt you have that Jesus didn't have and doesn't share in. He is our strength and peace. But putting your faith and belief in Him will cause rejection, resentment, and persecution even within families. This is the sword spoken of and relates to the peace of man. The Lord's peace will never leave you.
320 | Are We to Hate His (Our) Enemies? | Ps 139:22 | glory777 | 11002
Steve- I think it has something to do with the time frame. Prior to Jesus, there were laws to live by, and I think that keeping the law was what was important. Now, the emphasis is on the heart. Not only do you not murder, but you do not hate or think about it. The Mosaic law was impossible to keep, the New Law is even more impossible, except for the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit. Deb |
