7 | Pets in heaven after death. | Bible general Archive 2 | glory777 | 96935
floorman- Hank is right, there is no scripture saying that animals go to Heaven. However, scripture says that Christ will return riding a white horse (Revelation) and about animals living in harmony with mankind after the Lord returns. I would love to believe that the Lord has a special place that the animals go after death, and who's to say He doesn't - you couldn't find a book big enough to put all that the Lord has done or can do in it - but scripture doesn't tell us so. 8 | Why children as well? | Bible general Archive 2 | glory777 | 104704
Ed- I agree about the children. However, until they have attained the age of spiritual accountability (I don't know when that is but God knows) I believe the child is saved by the Blood of the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world. Hence David's claim, even in his grief over the loss of his first son with Bathsheba, that he would see him again in Heaven. As far as the women go, I hate to admit it, but it seems everytime you look at women who were not proper Hebrew women, they all had idols that they brought into the homes of Hebrew men and caused them to commit idolatry. God always knows what He is doing. It may seem cruel to us now, but He knows what would ultimatly happen if He wouldn't act. Am I right or wrong here? Debbie |

9 | Is 'match making' Biblical? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7143
I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I don't recall any precedent set in the Bible for the social situation we are in today. I do know that the Bible says not to be unevenly yoked, and if that means the only way you can meet someone of the opposite sex who is Christian, than go for it. Good friends are valuable. I think about the only types of matchmaking in the Bible were those done by the parents for their children, or for nations to cement their relationships (kings marrying their daughters to other kings). |

10 | Babies and young children a distraction? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7307
Nolan (and others)- I was raised in a church where the children had to sit quietly for over an hour or were threatened and taken out. Church was sober and very, very serious. I do not know of one child that grew up to enjoy being in church. It was a duty. I now belong to a church that welcomes and makes a place for the children. When church first starts we have faster praise music. The children enjoy singing their praises to the Lord. Babies are kept with their parents unless they are fussing and then we have a soundproof nursery in the back with viewing and sound. When the worship and teaching begins, along with the slower music, the young children go to children's church (4-10 years or so) and the toddlers and infants (if the parents want) go to toddlers church. The children see how much the adults love to worship and they learn that praising and worshipping God is something to look forward to.In their "church", they find learning about Jesus is something that is fun. I know it is not a distraction when small children sing praise songs and we are blessed by having conscientious parents of babies. |

11 | Churchianity | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7856
I agree thoroughly. By putting down one denomination you are putting down a part of the Body of Christ. Even in a single denomination, you may have slight disagreements but you love each other with the love of Christ.
12 | AGE OF ACCOUNTIBILITY | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9144
Thak you for sharing, brothers. And you are right, it is imperitive that we reach the little ones in such a way that they can understand the gospel. I know with my grandson (who is two and a half) that they are so capable of absorbing things of God. They are not able to realize consequenses of their actions, other than the fact that they may be punished and if they do physical things to people, they can inflict harm, so until the time they see the moral implications of their words and deeds, they are not responsible for their own salvation. Praise the Lord for His blood which covers them. But when the time comes when they can understand, if they have a knowledge of God, and know that He loves them, they will be eager to ask Him into their hearts. My grandson understands that communion represents Jesus' body and the cup as His blood which He gave for us so we can go to Heaven. Very rudementary, but it is a start. Teaching him that when he does something wrong, it makes God sad is another thing we are working on. I don't believe it is ever too early to start, as long as they are taught the joy of the Lord also. Debbie |

13 | Let's talk about prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9233
Hank- I think you have hit a subject that could use a whole new forum to address. One thing I have had to deal with myself, is the area of praying for my "wants" and not just my needs. God wants us to live the "abundant" life and the references given to God's generousity - not only in the spiritual sense- is all through scripture (Gen. 41:47; Num. 20:11; Deut. 30:9; John 10:10; Mal 3:10-11; Luke 6:38). When we go to the Lord in prayer, we must go as children to a loving Father who wants to know our every desire, not just what we think sounds "proper". Will we receive what we ask for? That is in the Lord's hands and in His best judgement. What are our motives for asking? If it is because of envy or greed, we are not in His will in the matter. And although and because He loves us as His little children, He will not give us everything we ask for. If I gave my children everything they asked for I would not be a responsible parent (plus I would be penniless!). I also believe that when the Lord blesses us generously in the physical sense, He expects us to use His lavishness to further the glory of His name. Debbie |

14 | 12 Tribes of Isreal? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9299
I read that the tribe of Dan migrated toward Europe and there are areas that are attributed to the tribe of Dan today. Don't have a clue as to how much truth is in this. Consider Danube, Denmark, and other places that have "Dan" or a derivitive of it. I think this source said that when a tribe moved, or a person or tribe founded a city or place, they named it after themselves. Sound possible? Debbie |

15 | Book of Enoch? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9333
Ok, Nolan- Now tell me where I can read this first hand. Some information may not be reagarded as Canon, but just as other books written by other authors on different subjects can give us insight, I would be interested in this. Thanks, Deb |

16 | How to know calling in your life? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10010
The Spirit Filled Life bible gives an explanation of the gift of prophesy as a divinely inspired and anointed utterance; Supernatural procalmation in a known language; Manifestation of the Spirit of God - not of intellect (1 Cor. 12:7); May be possessed and operated by all who have the infilling of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 14:31); Intellect, faith, and will are operative in this gift, but its exercise is not intellectually based. it is calling forth words from the Spirit of God. It also gives two definitions. "1. The prophet is a spiritually mature spokesman/proclaimer with a special, divinely focused message to the church or the world. 2. A person uniquely gifted at times with insight into future events." How do you know if you have a calling for prophecy? Is there any in your church who are mature spiritually with a gifting toward prophecy? If you feel that you have a word from the Lord, tell them first and see if they confirm what you feel the Lord is laying on your heart. If you feel it is a prophesy for the future, write it down. Remember, in history a true prophet was always accurate in his predictions given to him by the Lord. |

17 | Do humans become angels? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10171
Angels were created by God to do service to Him and praise and worship Him. A finite number were created. When a believer dies, they are changed but not to an angel. We will know each other, but our likeness will be with Jesus. We are sons of the Most High, we will be sons, and therefore not servants.
18 | Why will we know each other? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10232
Not so much a verse, but if we are changed as Jesus was changed after He died, where doors and walls did not mean anything and He could be here and then there in an instant, so shall we. However, the apostles knew Him, He still had the scars, so even though molecularly He was changed, His appearance was recognizable.
19 | Literal or Paraphrase Translation? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10233
I agree that for study, the literal would probably be better, but I had heard that every time you start reading the bible again, use a different version. I started out with the King James. Then went to the NIV. What an eye opener. The Amplified, although wordy, gave even more insight. the list goes on. Every time a different version is read, it can show you more and different aspects of what you have read previously. It is like the Holy Spirit keeps opening new windows to the infinite view of God.
20 | Why will we know each other? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10373
Phillip- I do have one verse that might show my position on the idea that we would recognize each other. Luke 24:16 says (speaking about the Emmaus road encounter) "But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him". Mary, at the tomb did not recognize Him at first, either, but she was so filled with grief, crying, and definitely not expecting to see Jesus alive again, she did not recognize Him until He spoke her name. I do believe still that we will recognize each other, but, I know that God would have to do something to the memories of the pain we suffer on earth so it is nonexistant in Heaven. Perhaps the joy of being with the Lord would so outweigh everything that we can't even comprehend it, and in that joy everything that has painful connotations would be so diminished as to not even have happened? One other part that could substantiate my idea of recognizability is the parable (?) of Lazarus in Luke 16. It does not say what the begger saw, but Jesus told us that Lazarus saw the beggar. Isn't funny how the only parable that mentions a name is this one? Of course, his memory could have been retained because he was in Hell and this recalling all of what he did wrong was part of the torment. But I think if his memories were retained in this respect, so will ours be in the respect of people that we know and love who will be with us in Heaven. Before I was born again, I was married to a man who is now also born again as is his present wife. I am married to another who I am praying will come to the Lord. It is my desire to see all of them in Heaven, where earthly marriage ties have no meaning anymore, only the glorifying and praising the Lord. (Rev. 21:4 has been my favorite verse for as long as I can remember!) Deb |
