Bible Question: The question is NOT to argue any theological aspects of the Old Testament dietary laws. Theology aside, were there any strictly dietary, nutritionally-based reasons for them? Do these dietary laws have any nutritionally-based value today in light of what we supposedly know about what foods are good and what foods are bad for us? --Hank |
Bible Answer: At the time of the Old Testament, I don't know if they realized that rabbits can have a worm that can cause disease in humans, but by the law prohibiting the eating of rabbit, the Israelites didn't have to worry about it. The same with pigs. If in the right (or I should say wrong) invironment, they also can, without being thoroughly cooked, cause sickness. |
