161 | May I Ask Again... Bible Software? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 69430
I have used Parsons Technology "QUICK VERSE" for over 10 years. I am quite frugal when it comes to Bible or Christian software. They have stood behinh their products. When I went from my "old faithful XT" computer QUICK VERSE had a conversion disk to convert to windows. I still use the same disks on my co,puter today which is like a like a billion times better than the "Old XT". Parsons is now owned by INTUET. The disks are mow CD ROM wher my old disks are about 150! Eeks that's a lot too! I looked at a lot back then... that was about a decade ago. So maybe there are better now. I just know I like what I have. justme |

164 | AM I MARRIED IN GODS EYES ? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 70790
Johnzsaved: Regardless of the reason Divorce is always due to heardness of heart. No one person is 100 percent at fault. A marriage takes two, and with that each has some fault somewhere in it all. With three marriages your chance of making this one work is very much against you. May I suggest you and your wife seek professional Christian counseling. If you have not confessed you past sins then do so now. Repent and be deternined to NEVER let DIVORCE be a part of you thinking or your wife. You have a covenant promise with God and now keep it. Like as a true believer and go on from here. Hope this helps, and may God bless you and your family. justme |

165 | Col 2:16 don't let anyone condemn you | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 70874
Spider1777: Welcome to the Forum! You ask a good question. There is always plenty to say about giving. Do you think a tithe is 10 percent? In few churches do most people give 10 percent of their income. I believe I read somewhere that the avrage person gives less then 3 percent. Is it easier for say someone making 100,000.00 per year to give 10 percent over someone making minium wage? To whom would be giving the greater sacrifice? I personally think giving should NOT be allowed to be deducted from our income for taxes. If we are to do as Jesus sayed not to let the right and left hands not know what each is giving, then should our churches keep records of who gives what? Then there is the matter of pledge cards, is that Biblical? We are told to live by faith, is not the church to do the same? we give by cash and do not use any deduction for our church. We will not sign a pledge card, and our giving is between the Lord and us only. I know I am a strange bird, and this is not a popular view, but I believe it more Biblical than any other I have read yet. Think on this. justme |

168 | 4. A GOD OF HUMAN PROPORTIONS? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82197
Radioman2: I wanted you to know I back your post 100 percent! I wonder if this dialogue from you is not understood as dialogue. Those who defend wof seem interested on monologue, and don't seem to hear with their "soul ears". In reality those promoting wof are anti Christ's. That's a harsh statement, but it is no less a reality. Blesings to you radioman2! justme |

169 | to justme can we talk and disagree? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82225
Imf: Sure I can dialogue about faith. However, I stand firm I will not debate or respond to WOF. I believe dialogue needs to br respectful, kind, and open to hear what the otherpeerson says. I think we have a understanding on what we disagree on, so lets avoid that topic. I have no problems, in responding to you. I already answered you note on Philippians 4:19. I think you will find me to be open, respectful and kind. At least I strive for those trates. What do you think is a good response to dialogue? justme |

170 | How do we do a profile? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82463
Imf: My wife thinks perhaps Imf stands for "I am Female". Hank has given some wise advice, profiles help others to respond better, and know a little of what you want us to know. Hank is a fine gentelman whom is wise and kind. I wish I had his skill of the english language, and his ability to say things in a sweet way. He speaks from a spirit that has walked with the Lord a long time. justme |

171 | Authority, without literalism? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82771
Just Read Mark: Welcome to the Forum! Any time we read and study Scripture there are several things to keep in mind. What is the history at the time writen. Whom was it writen for, and why? What's the meaning for those at that time. How does that relate to us. Also the culture at the time, and is it for our culture today. Not all these are sure fire answeres to look for, but is sure keeps me on a better track. With no doubt (for me) that to say women should be quiet in church today is not applicable today, as it was a cultural issue then, not now. Saying that I respect others that do not agree, but please don't send notes to me saying how wrong I am, please. Where we can take the meaning literal we should. Rather clear is the Ten Comandments are still quite valid today. But we don't stone people who brake some of them, as they once were supose to do. I think a good study Bible is Updated NASB Study Bible, by Zondervan or the NIV Study Bible are good helps to more careful in understanding the Word today. Hope this helps. justme |

172 | can a woman lead a church | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82774
Bwingate77: Welcome to the Forum! I thought to myself, about your question, why? The Histoy of women in ministry in the United states is rich and plentiful! Today many demonations have women as ordained pastors, and in about every position you can name. Galatians 3:28, 5:6-7, are some important verses to consider. There many demonations and churches that are at the very extreme side that won't even allow a woman to teach Sunday School. There is wide distance in how men and women think about ordination of women, and even women serving on church boards. This has been a topic in the forum and I doubt either side changed anyones views. I prefer to leave my bias out, and have presented just the facts as I understand them. I will say that proof of the call of God on ones life for ministry is validated by the Holy Spirit and a call of the church and is proven over time. Hope this helps. Blessings. justme |

175 | questions on marriage | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 83651
tabitha: Welcome to the Forum! You state you are "with" this man now. Does that imply you are living together now? You sound confused and I wonder if you have ever come to the point in your life where you have ever asked Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your Life? I think that is the most important question above all the rest of what you ask. What do you feel about what I have said? justme |

176 | What is the most accurate Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 84009
jcary5: Welcome to the Forum! What a good question! I might add a lot of people ask that question, as you might expect there are several qualified answers. For absolute accurate the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Bible are with little doubt the perfect solution and answer to your question. But some of us have a hard time with English say nothing of Greek and Hebrew! However even that cam be overcome with several books that take the languages and have the english equalivant and put it under or over the orignal words. Even then it reads awakward. Now here comes the matter of ones opinion, which I do have, I believe the New American Standard Bible Updated version (NASB Updated)is the best of the best. By that I mean as close as word for word can be, which in some places the orignal languages words may have some problems with English equalivant words. If you are wanting a Bible that uses what is called Dynamic equalivant, meaning a "thought by thought" equalivant translation the New International Version (NIV) is quite good. I use both side by side as I study. For many years I have used the NIV and preached by it, and used it in Seninary. I say again this is my opinion and that's all I can give you. As I have grown older I do like the NASB Updated better. May I suggest you go to a Christian Book store and look and read each for your self. I will say a new or older Christian who has really never gotten into the Word much before, I would suggest the NIV Study Bible. There is also the NASB Updated Study Bible both are made by Zondervan Bible Publishers. The study notes are excellent and you may well like both. The NASB Updated is at a 10th grade reading lever and the NIV is at about 7th grade reading lever, which most of the US reads at this level. As and aded thought you may want to ask what version your Pastor uses, and get his thoughts as well. I hope this helps, Please let me know if I can give you some more information, from my view point. Perhaps others will respond with some other alternatives as well. Blessings to you and enjoy the Forun! justme |

jcan5: justme here, I made a very stupid, blunderious error! I ask your forgiveness. The Rotherham Bible is known as "The EMPHASIZED BIBLE" and has an excellent reputation! I typed in my searcg engine rothams or something like it and because I entered the name wrong, I got the right information, but on a different version. I sincerely did not mean to confuse you. This goes to show that no matter how wise I may think I am I am not so wise as to make a foolish mistake. Your indulgance of my stupidity would be appreciated. Thank you. justme |

180 | What is the purpose of the anointing? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 85107
Elijahprophet:Welcome to the Forum! You choose an interesting name, is there something prophetic about the name? I read the other notes about anointing. In James 5:13-15 this refers to anointing the sick who are believers. There is nothing special about the oil, or the Elders prayers, or evnen the sick. This is an outward act of obedience of the Elders, the one who is anointed, asking for the LORDS healing. The healing person may experience physical death but the person is healed in the presents of the Lord, or it may be the Lords will to be to be physically healed, here and now. I find your question especially timely, as tonight my elders are anointing me, as I have just been told I have cancer. So I speak in that which I will have first hand knowledge. Blessings to you, enjoy the forum. justme |
