241 | are there apostles and prophets today | NT general | justme | 238227
Apsottles had to be a person witness to Jesus Christ and His ministry. Paul was personally anointed by those who had direct contact with Jesus and Paul spent three years being taught by the Holy Spirit. A Prophet that for saw the furture and preditcte Scripture was ended with Paul. Today there are so-called prophets and apostles, most generally those who accept experiences over Scripture. Revelation 22:19 is very clear about adding and taking away from the Word of God. Sadly too often man wants to elevate himself to high positions that were only for those who served at a specific place, and time in God's history. I see to many want the title of Rev. or Dr. I personally an content by Jesus calling me His child, or friend. I believe calling my Pastor "Pastor" No one is really reverend. Seeking a title brings a huge responsibility, and I surely do not deserve anything more than "servant". |

242 | Can a woman be a pastor of a church? | NT general | justme | 239141
kburt: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. Many liberal denominations have woman pastors. Biblically my belief is no. Often women are forced into positions because men are not there or men won't face up to the responsibility God gives then. My advice is go very prayerfully on this, or anything else in choosing the right man for a pastor. justme |

244 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | NT general | justme | 242654
FytRobert, Hi brother, Scripture does not say what the church is to do in either case. However as a matter of courtesy the Pastor for one sure better go visit with the family of the loved one who passed. Generally they assist the family in any area he is welcomed to help in, be that being at the visitation, preaching the funeral and graveside services. Generally the church has a dinner after the services at the church and takes meal to the family for a couple of meals. Follow up is strictly depending on the Pastor. When a non-member dies that all depends upon the family of the loved one and their wishes. If the Pastor does the services most always he is given a sum for his services. If he feels circumstances warrant not accepting anything for his services that is his choice. Often the funeral home includes something for his services included in the cost of the funeral service. As for the church it is totally at the pastors suggestion to who ever is in charge of things like this. Above all else this is a time when people are more open to hear the Gospel as usually they may not be. Perhaps many pastor's feel this is a real opportunity for showing the love of Christ. In my personal experience, there were times when children were involved in a tragedy that resulted in their passing. A few were SIDS and one an accident. These are the most difficult to do. There is complete assurance that these little ones are in the LORDs presents and that's so beautiful. But the parents and other relative's are heart broken, special ministering is needed then often for sometime later. Parents often blame each other for the death of a child. It is not uncommon for a divorce to happen when a child dies. A wise minister knows this and takes caution to work with a couple in counseling the couple to help them to prevent blaming and give then support. No Pastor can be held accountable for how a couple copes with such loss and a couples reaction. However if a pastor is ill equipped and does little to minister then he is seriously accountable for being so inept. Being group called to be a church has a responsibility to the community, as well as does the pastor, because they are Jesus Christ to the community wher the LORD has planted them to minister the GOSPEL. Amen. justme |

245 | Study bible | NT general | justme | 242670
Luke, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I personally have a number of Study Bibles. My wife and I used to give the NASB and the NIV life Application Study Bible as gifts to our four adult children and our grandchildren when they reached a age level of understanding. But we began to read more of the study notes. We found that the note in Genesis 1:1f made us change our minds. The note gives credence to creation taking " how did God create the earth? This is still a subject of great debate. Some sat there was a sudden explosion, and the universe appeared. Others say God started the process, and the universe evolved over billions of years." and "We will never know all the answers to how God created the earth, but the Bible tells us God did it." For us this ended our recommending the Life Application Bible. If these notes give doubt to what the Bible says that is going beyond what we can tolerate. The NIV in its newest version is a mixture of the 2004 TNIV which was gender neutral. The better 1984 NIV in the "STUDY BIBLE" is good and is available in the NIV and NASB. After years of reading study Bibles I do have a favorite. THE HOLMAN CHRISTIAN STANDARD BIBLE has conservative study notes and uses "Yahweh" for LORD as it should be translated which is unique for all but the Roman Catholic Bibles. I find the HCSB reads very close to most commonly used translations used by pastors in their preaching. Some like the English Standard Bible, and New American Standard Bible for being more literal. The NASB is a bit wordy and the ESV says "The Holy Bible, English Standard Version (ESV) is adapted from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, copyright division of the Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. All rights reserved." I believe the RSV is a liberal Bible and the National Council of Churches is want nothing whatsoever to do with. So I prefer to only use my ESV in comparing verses, not a personal Bible. There are those who will disagree with my opinion of the ESV. Please take into consideration that Bibles are made on several reading grade levels. The New American Standard Bible at 11th grade level and the NIV at between 7th to 8th grade reading level. The HCSB is about 8th grade level. Just as an example most news papers are at 6th grade level. Also different Study Bible have different agendas A good place to look for deeper understanding is LIFEWAY books and Christian Book Distributers that give good descriptions on these different Bibles. But nothing beats going to a Christian Book store and looking for your self. I would hope the sales person might be knowledgeable about these bibles. I suggest getting the best binding and cover you can afford. I try to buy l genuine leather as they stand up better over time. Avoid bonded leather as it does come apart more easily. Some of the newer simulated leather or leather look covers are holding up well. I hope this helps in your selection. justme |

246 | 1) A man who has his quiver full of them | Genesis | justme | 49593
Quiver is mentioned in Gen.27:3 for hunters, also Job 39:23, Isiah 22:6 for soldiers, and speakin figuratively of children in Psalms 127:5 also of the Mwssiah in Isiah 49:2. A quiver was a case for carrying arrows. In your question I believe it referes to a man is happy with and blessed with his children, not to mention his wife whom with out her he would have no QUIVER to be full. agape, justme |

248 | The three Earth Ages | Genesis | justme | 53514
TxRedBelle: I am not completly sure what you are asking for so I will give you several things that come to this gray matter in my head. We know God Created the earth. I do not accept eveloution so that will allow for some dispute by our monkey origin fans. Most Bible schollars will say the earth is somewhere between 10,000 to 6,000 years old. Personally I am not sure as I was not there at the time. Although I have been told I look as old as dirt. So when you speak of ages, I would say the next age would be the age of man? In Genesis it says man was created on the sixth day. Both male and female flesh were created that day. Call me old fashoned but I honest believe the days of creation were 24 hour days. Now I would like to stress the how importand it is to view these days as literal 24 hour days. Now Toni, if you do not view creation as the book of Genesis says then it will determine how you will understand the rest of the Bible. Besides quite honestly I do not have enough faith to believe in eveloution! Think of a one cell blob changing over millions of years to something just a little more complex? Now just yhink how complex male and female most simple thing is. How did these cells arrange in such a magic way so they could reproduce. Now look how very complex men and women are and how unbelievable it is to have ababy! Wow! We have had four children and I am still amazed. The next age would be perhaps when sin entered mankind. Then removal from the Garden of Eden. I would say after Cain killed Able would be cansidered an age. The next big age would be the flooding of the Eart, and the canopy being destroyed and the earth and mankind was forever changed. Then there many more ages. Some would call these ages dispensations, which I agree with. May I suggest a book called THE GENESIS RECORD by Morris. Any Christian book store could order it or a large book store might have it in stock. Well toni I hope this has helped a little bit. You can ask the question again if I did not answer as you wanted. Welcome to the Family of God, and the Forum! agape, justme |

249 | why did god decide to create a woman | Genesis | justme | 54272
Gemesis 2:20 to 25. Adam had no one who was like his flesh, he was alone. Adam was imcomplete, unable to reproduce, Adam could not surive alone. Eve was taken from Adam's rib near his heart. Eve was not taken from adams foot to be walked all over. Eve made Adam complete, able to reproduce their kind, and to be life companions. This was as pure a romance as could be had between a man and a woman. agape, justme |

The we refers to The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The trinity, three in one. I know amny have a neat way to attempt to eaplain the trinity, but in reality I don't think anyone can fully undersatnd the God head. 252 | Can you be pro-life but not do anything? | Genesis | justme | 220765
I think you are looking at pro life support in a rather norrow way. Many protestant churches support financially these centers, and there are many who actually work in helping. There are those Catholics that are more outspoken for the work they do, and many protestants who help in a silent way. I personally have helped and never made any issue about it. However there were Catholics who made it very well known how much they were doing. You might want to reconsider what you think. Blessings justme |

256 | Help me understand the bible | Genesis | justme | 242915
Adien; I want to deal with two areas. You have read the Bible three times correct? Secondly can you love God without loving Gods WORD. Both to me seem like you are missing a huge issue. God sets the rules and His condition's, we don't. We either accept His terms or we face Him with our choice to be again Him and retest Him as Creator and one who loves us or we don't. An ant has no control of if I will step on it or let it live. All the running or stinging me won't change my mind. We are similar to the ant are we not? God has given us a history of how people in the past treated each other, and how they disobeyed God. There are consequences for disobeying, that is in all of life be it our parents as a child or when we don't obey the laws of the road. God has instilled these laws from the beginning of creation. Adam and Eve disobeyed. Cane killed Able and so it goes. The main issue through all of man kind is SIN. God does all within His power to get man to live for their and our betterment. But we and they have free will, to do as we wish. Wean chose to follow God or to do things our way. Clearly If people lived by the Ten Commandments then there never would have been the killing and the dreadful punishment God brought on those who rejected His laws. Rather than see more babies and children turn out to be anti God people He instructed those tribes to kill those enemies. God does indeed bring calamities to happen upon people and Nations that reject Him and His ways and laws. The United States has rejected the Laws He has given us and now we too are going to see punishment in the form of natural disaster's or other serious things. We can not say killing babies is good and same sex marriage is good and in reality tell God we will do it our way. We can expect calamity every year from now on. But sin has been the issue and will always be. However God has a solution for our sin problem. In your reading the Bible three times have you made the connection between Jesus Christ and Sin? Jesus Christ has paid the price for your and my sins. But no one has to accept Jesus payment for their sins. A person who refuses to Follows Gods plan for their forgiveness of their sins faces God on their own. He will judge us on the Ten Commandments. No one has kept every single one except Jesus Christ. That is because He was a Perfect human God man. Jesus death on the cross was the final blood sacrifice for our sine. As proof that Jesus was God he rose from the Grave ad our Lord and savior. John 3:16 clearly states that God does Love us and will forgive us. But id someone feels God is unfair or they just don't like His Laws and the rules he has set then that's your choice. But who ever makes that personal choice will suffer the punishment for that choice, that is hell in torment for ever everlasting punishment. However if a person has accepted Jesus offer for forgiveness of sins and become a follower of jesus Christ that reward is heaven for ever, everlasting with the Holy Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I have no clue why anyone would reject Jesus Christ. I have no idea why you do not love the record of how man kind has so turned against a God who only wants the very best for us. I hope this gives you some better insight, and can more fully appreciate the WORD. Justme |

258 | Must we justify incest among Adam's kids | Gen 1:1 | justme | 74158
SteviM95: I think we need to remember that when God created Adam and Eve they were sinless. Something we have no clue what that would be like today. I don't think we can imagine a sinless world. After Adam and Eve were removed from the garden they were in a new surronding with no LAW yet, and many things we really do not know about Adam and Eve. They were told by God to reproduce. Because they were the only man and woman then God forknew their children would become mates. Please bare in mind God knew what His plans were long before Man ever sinned. The way in which God chose to populate the earth was GOOD by what Scripture says. Today it is hard to look back, and our reasoning, and laws tell us from everwhere that incest is a violation of everything we know. But when looking from the begining that is a totally different circumstance. Taking just simple rates of possible reproductive age and assuming the first created couple and their children were semi proflic in 25 years you could have a good number of humans. Nothing is to say multipal births did not happen either. In a relatively short time brother sister marriage would have perhaps stopped. In less than 100 years you could have many who were several times removed from adam and Eve. To us this seems abhorant, but it was the way God planned to start mankind. Nothing God has done was "bad". Adam and Eve covered themselves as soon as they sinned. Before that point they were perfect as God intended. I Can't imagine it that way, now from here. May I suggest you leave this one up to the Creator who know what's best. justme |

Emmaus: Thank you for your concern, and continued prayer. I am to have another Cat Scan of my lungs this Friday. This will tell us if the clots have gotten worse, stayed the same or have begun to desolve. Any of the three are possible, however I believe I feel better, and have more physical strength. The doctor told us last Monday that he had not seen anyone with the numerious amount of clots that I have, ever live to this point. He said "you are one for the books". My oxygen saturation level is 96 percent and this seems to the doctors impossible. We have been able to witness to the doctor, and we keep telling them it is strickly the Lord doing it all. My blood has gotten to the proper thickness. That's all we know at this point. I am walking more and get tired sooner than normal, but we expect that, I am walking outside more, and I do feel pretty good at this point. To all this I sau to God be the Glory and praise, He is able to do far more than we can dare to dream. Blessings Emmaus. justme |

260 | Explain the Trinity | Gen 1:1 | justme | 223963
skeppel: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! The actual truth is, "we walk by Faith, not sight". There is really no correct way to explain the Trinity. The God head is made in such a way that as we try and explain where God came from. The faith we have to trust in The Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, is required just as well. There are all kinds of poor ideas in attempting to explain the Trinity just do not do even come close. The Trinity Is NOT like an egg or water, ice and steam, NOTHING but faith in what YAHWEH has said is adaquite, or come close. I sincerely wish it was as simple explaining in plain language. We walk by faith, and faith is not easy. Blessings. justme |
