221 | Who celebrates Easter Sunday and Why ? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 118050
Edd: Very good question! I think calling RESURRECTION DAY is not easter! Eastar was a goddes of fertility. Why we choose to connect our LORD JESUS with eastar is utter foolishness! What do you think? justme |

223 | Deacon/Pastor divorced before saved | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 129579
pbp: After reading your question and the aanswer given to it, I thought I drop a note too. This is a very touchy subject. There seems to be endless reasons for and against, and it gets rather tangled up. There are those who would say if a man marries a woman who has been divorced, even because her husband was an outright confessed adulter, some would not allow the man to be a pastor. Then there are churches who except homosexual pastors! The call of God on a man or woman for ministry in whatever capacity, is always confirmed by the church. We can only hope that it is a Biblical Church and God directs the people to God's choosen. Your question is really answered by the church you are a part of, and their traditions. Under no circumstance should a person fight and force themselves into ministry. If one is really called by God a ministry will open. God does not issue a call that has no place to answer that call. Think carefully about what I have said and let me know what you think. Blessings. justme |

224 | when will the rapture take place | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 139792
speedypena4: I find people want easy answers to complecated questions. I suggest you read Revelation for your self. After reading Scripture spend 33 dollars on REVELATION, FOUR VIEWS. Steve Sregg. This give you scriptual views on the many positions. My opinion is study it yourself and be open to the Lords teaching, not what some person says in "Left Behind" kind of fictional books. justme |

225 | Was Joesph married before Mary? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 145347
dnlpks: Welcome to the Forum. Your question is one I have never heard asked before. What made you think of this? Scriptur says Joseph was a righteous man. Joseph was in right standing before the Lord. There is no way the Lord would have allowed His only Son to be raised by a father (step-fatherin the true meaning of the virgin birth) who was less than the best man he coul provide for God's only Son on this earth. Yes, Joseph had other children with Mary, after Jesus was born. Scripture says Jesus had brothers and sisters, but they were concieved by Joseph and not of virgin birth. In the true meaning they wer half brothers and sisters as Mary was the birth mother to all. Any questions? justme |

226 | Should women be ordained? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 145690
riclib:Welcome to the Forum! For your first question on the Forum, you picked a rather touchy area. There are some who say no, not under any circunstance, ant use their understanding of Scripture to prove their ideas of why not. However, there are some of us who would not have a problem with ordaining a women into ministry. I for one take into consideration the culture at the time Scripture was written. Women for the majority were uneducated, and under bondage of the legaistic cultural laws as well as Old Testament Laws that Jewish leaders has so distorted. Only because of Christ did liberation come for women and by His example are men to treat women as equal under Christianity. I am NOT saying that the Womans Liberation's movement today is anything remotley like that of Christ's liberation of women. Today many relate women and ordination with abortion and same sex relations, which many in the liberal low view of Scripture demonations do hail as alternative Christian lifestyles. This kind of liberal belief ids Not what I an speaking of by any means. In answering your question I expect to get some disagreement by some of my fellow Forum writers, I consider this a inhouse debate and not one to argue or have complete harmony over. I hope this gives you some better ideas of where some of us come from. Blessings. justme |

227 | Exactly how poor/rich was Joseph and Mar | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 165053
Welcome to the forum Kan! Nazareth at the time was a very poor place, and some have called it a garbage dump. I can see no Biblical evidence that Mary and Joseph were rich in terms of worldy goods. They must have been spiritual mature and closer to the Holy Father than any other humans or the Father would not have allowed them to raise His Son, Jesus Christ. However it may be true that the average person person then was not as well off as our poorest persons now. Gives much to think about! Blessings. Justme |

228 | Preachers with titles wrong? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 174015
Bereaniam: I think I recall responding to an issue you had with the church or pastor some weeks ago. Do you think the Holy Father is leading you to go else where? I think you need to seriously consider that God is leading you to at least try a nother church. I am sure this is hard to do but "we walk by faith not sight". I would start walking. Blessings. 229 | can a woman be pastor of a church | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 174843
andra: I do support women in ministry, and their ordination. My view is NOT representative of any other person in this forum, that I know of. To prevent any discord with my fellow forum members, may I direct you to the Search box below the Word or ID# on the top right side of this page.Type in women in ministry, or women pastors. This will give you laods of Scripture both for and against. May the Lord Jesus guide you in your search. This subject has taken some of us a very long time to resolve in ourselves. Justme |

230 | why christains can't have house cats. | NT general | justme | 204824
searcher7: There is no such Scripture forbidding us from having cats as pets. We have five cats, and they all have a personality that is anything but ungodly. I think cats have a way of bringing out the best in those they allow to live with them. Cats seem to have a understanding when their owners are down, or sick, and they stay near to us. We love our five cats, and our three dogs which all get along, something we Christians sometimes have a problem doing. justme |

231 | Accept , Reject ? | NT general | justme | 211492
Newwine: Your profile is interesting to read. I wish others would follow your example and tell us something about themselves as you have done so well. This may seem trifle, but we don't "accept" Christ. We must surrender to Christ. To surrender to the calling of the Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sinfullness and our need to surrender to the Love, Mercy, Grace of Gods love and pardon by His one and only Son Jesus Christ. Most misunderstood is the fact Jesus accepts us just as we are. The two phrases I fell do wrong in an invitation aor "ask Jesus into your heart" and "to accept Jesus" inreality the idea is there but the words are not well chosen at all. Now, for free will. If mankind does not have free will to surrender or free will to reject the pleads of the Holy Spirit, then missionaries are a waste of time. Unless a person takes a verse out of context, you can't find a verse that says we do not have free will. Read John 3 as a total text and see if you follow what I mean. I would encourage you to reconsider what tou say in your User Info. There are some good commentaries that have come out in the last 30 years, so don't be so negative. Blessings NewWine. justme |

232 | How did the atmosphere of persecution af | NT general | justme | 213465
Rose53 (:-( I am wondering something. Please understand I want to understand your situation. I am frustrated, and concerned if some on the forum are being used. Why don't you have your books? Doesn't the library have books you can use? Just when do you expect your books to get to you. If you name the books maybe someone here can send you the books if we have copies. This looks like cheating, and I pray it's not, I feel guilty about the help you are getting from the forum. Is this a college or graduate level classes? Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. If you could help us understand, maybe there would be more help if the reason is genuine. Blessings. justme |

233 | Is it against God's Law to be cremated o | NT general | justme | 215690
Hood Rat: You have an odd forum name. To answer your question, the Bible does not address cremation. Si cremation becomes a personal matter. I personally don not think cremation is the best. However a person burned to death, or lost at sea, or any number of ways the body becomes lost, this is in the Lords hands. How we are going to be resurrected is a mystry I do not believe anyone knows how it will happen. Something about a funeral with a viewinf settles ones mind that the person we knew is now gone, and grieving is somewhat easier, I think. Cremation was once less cost but now the cost is pretty much the same where I live. I do not think going for a brass vault and a walnut casket is a investment that is worth the cost. I have instructed my family only a inexpensive wood box and a cheap vault us what I want. After the service no one will ever likley see the casket ever again. Why spend so much on the funeral when the family often times needs money more than ever before? Hope this helps. justme |

234 | who would you give the lord supper to | NT general | justme | 222485
Great question, one in which I have give much thought to over a number of years. There is no reason that you can not have the Lord's supper with a husband and wife or a family, or a youth group. As long as everyone is a christian. Blessings. justme |

235 | ministering to the opposite sex? | NT general | justme | 223808
Dritchie: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Your thinking has reason for everone involved in ministry either professionally or as a lay person needs to give serious thought to. Many have shamed the name of Jesus, because the fell to sexual temptation. I can think of one verse that covers everything relation to temptation Hebrews 13:4.We are to be pure at all costs, is how I understand Scripture. My view piont is men should minister to men and women to women. Unless it is in an church function where others are there. Per haps some might think my view is old and out of date, but it works and the Lord is honnored. Blessings and again Welcome to the forum. justme |

236 | grounds for firing a preacher | NT general | justme | 225270
Mikie: Welcome to The Study Bible Forum. You ask a very serious question, and one that's not to be entertained lightly. There are consequences for those who make such actions falsely. I personally know of a church that brought false charges up against a pastor. The Pastor quit instead of being fored. In less than 3 years that church was closed. What the pastor and his family endured was pure hell. It took the better part often years for the pastor and his family to recover. This was very wrong for this to have happened. There is a proper way to enter such issues and Matthew 18 is the right way, but unless there are two witnesses aginst the pastor then do not continue with such a serious undertaking, Blessings. justme |

238 | Jehova Wittness | NT general | justme | 227330
legsrandall: The JW's are a cult. They believe Jesus is a brother to Satan, and reject Jesus as the only way to salvation. The JW's are trained in very direct answeres ind have text of the Bible that is twisted to make their beliefs fit their purposes. The New World Translation is a corrupted text and leads people away from Jesus . Unless you are firmly established in your Christiab faith leave the JW's alone. justme |

240 | Do you go to heaven right when you die | NT general | justme | 235566
Paul said to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD. But here is a point to consider. It makes no difference, when Christians die they are in the hands of the LORD. I doubt very much we sleep in the grave. I have some fellow believers that will fight all day that we will sleep until Jesus comes. I finally got tired of hearing them repeat their theory, so I said what difference does it make. We are going to be where Jesus wants us to be. Check out Hebrews 9:27. Blessings. justme |
