103 | Will suicide condem my soul to hell? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 101454
Scott88: Thank you for asking such a very important question, and welcome to the Bible Study Forum! Scott, I was a pastor of a church that had a sucide cluster of teenagers. There were several young mmen who ended their lives, and left behing a lot of unsettled matters. So I believe I can say I have dealt with this question, and I hope I can share with you answers that will be of some use. Please let me say, that suicide is a temptation that most people have thought about at some time. Yes, even I at one time gave it some thought. Most of us have dealt with serious depression that so foggs up our outlook we can't see the light of day, and this is hell on earth when you get to this point. I believe that we lose sight of what kind of suicide is the most dreaded, that blinds our eyes and does in fact result in eternal death. I am refereing to Spiritual suicide, and that Scott will lead to eternity in hell. Spiritual suicide is rejecting Jesus Christ as LORD. Rejecting Jesus and saying no I don't need you Jesus, is spiritual suicide! There is NO HOPE after death for this, none at all. Scott if a person who has never accepted as Lord, Jesus Christ, and ends their life then they are condemed to hell. Perhaps what's so frightening is that many people ending their lives believe that in death it just could not be any worse than life as it is for them right then and there. But in truth it does in deed get much worse, forever and ever! Hell without end! There is nothing worse Scott! When we have Jesus Christ as Lord there is more than hope beyond death, for all eternity we will be with the Lord. I would suggest you read St. John chapter 3, all of the verses, paying attention to verse s 17-the end of the chapter. Scott I don't know if you are considering ending your life or not. For the sake of being sure I will talk to as if you are. Ok? Please call your pastor or Priest or parent, or a friend. Talk to someone right now! There is a small space of time in which ppeople might end their life, and talking will help you to get through this period, until you can get some answers to what hurts so badly. God so loves you He has put this Forum here so we could tell you God Loves you just as you are! No matter what the problem NOTHING IS TOO BIG FOR GOD! Scott as i write this right now I am praying for you! I pray dear Lord for Scott or whom ever Scott knows who might be considering ending their life, please Jesus make yourself known right as this is read and prove your love to Scott right now! I ask you dear Jesus to step in and free this person from the trap of Satan to have this person believe death would be better than life. I pray this in Jesus name Amen. Scott I want you to call someone right now, please. If this is not you, then call the peroooson who maybe considering suicide. Scott this could be the most important thing you ever do, please, please act right now. I would like to hear from you to know how you are, please. I am praying right now. justme |

104 | The KJV is the most accurate? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 104465
kalos:-) Greetings brother. I have a Word for Word reprint of the orignal First Edition of the Authorized Version. I will quote John 3:16 as it appears in the orignal KJV. "For God so loued y world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life." The spelling is not standarized as we now have, and following the Roman Nunerals is slightly different as IV is IIII. There are other oddities, but one can, with some idea of how the passage reads today, can follow it. I believe if this were the only Bible I had could introduce someone to Christ, or preach a message from it. I am not a KJV fan, but I was raised on it and memorized from the KJV. I personally do not care too much for the NKJV either. I do read and enjoy the NASB Updated. I like how it reads and flows with my thought patterns. I find the NASB Updated has much clearer meaning than the NKJV or the NIV. I do use the NIV to gain a wider scope in todays terms, but not often is the NIV any clearer for me. But kalos, what good is any version, if people won't read the Bible. There are so many English Bible translations in print today, there just is no excuse for not reading the Bible on a systematic basis. What are your thoughts? Blessings. justme |

105 | Is this a Christian Forum? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 105377
JCrichton: I usually start off by welcomo\ing a new person to the Bible Study Forum. I read in your note some concern in your rather blunt observations, without really doing any dialogue with anyone. I attempt to be respectful, kind and ready to listen and dialogue. I can't honestly say I remember any note quite like yours that is so critical right off the bat. If your search for answers is genuine, then your questions will be responded to in a respectful way. I encourage you to try and see if your observations are correct or you jumped to an inaccurate conclusion. I hope it is the latter. Might I suggest that first impressions of you by your note suggest what you think you saw may be a reflection of yourself. Give it some thought any way, I extend to you peace and blessings. justme |

106 | one takes own life. | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 105876
beelersweethome: I just responded to a note quite simular to your, yesterday. The main question is what did your brother do with Jesus Christ, that is all that matters. The taking of ones own life will not remove the faith one has in Christ. There is only one sin that can not be forgiven and that is rejecting Jesus Christ as our Lord. I am sorry for your loss, I think we hardly know the true misery some people endure with mental illness's. I believe only God knows the suffering many people endure and find they can't live with anylonger. I am not saying suicide is not a sin, I am saying the main issue is what the person did with Jesus Christ. Blessings and peace. justme |

107 | New church? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 106982
New Creature: Your situation is more common than you might think. I could not help wonder if you age is above 45 or so. At any rate My wife and I are over the hill and retired, yet we enjoy the contempory worship very much. The "traditional" worship service is what we were use to for more than 50 years. I miss to older hymns, and we do sing them once and a while. I notice that much of our music is focused on praising the Lord, and lifting up our heart and mind up to worshiping the LORD. I have noticed much of the songs are taken from Scripture and that is very special. One of my favorite songs is It Is Well With My Soul. Having been raised on the Baptist Hymnal most of my life I know most of these old treasured hymns by heart. My experience with Keith Green's music some 20 years ago so touched my heart. The words and melody are very moving. For my wife and I we feel very comfortable in either way of worship. Our church has drums, and stringed instruments and a electronic organ-paino. Nothing makes any of thes musical instruments wrong to praise and worship the Lord. The truth is there are many ways to worship the Lord. The way we worship is just different, not wrong. Change is hard only if we are unmoveable, and unwilling to adapt. Music has for several centuries been an object of strong disagreement and divisions in churches. May I suggest that it is the utmost importance that you and your wife worship together. Someday you may well be alone without her, or her without you, when one of you passes on. I can assure that then you woill look back and wish that the other were sitting beside you, as now you are alone not by choice. I wonder if this is a symton of something deeper going on between you two? I hope this helps, blessings. justme |

110 | when will jesus christ return | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 107339
Sojourner3: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum! You ask a very good question. I will tell you there have been multitudes of volumes written on this very question. Perhaps everone who is or lived with the faith of the Lord Jesu Christ has asked this very question. The answer is forund in Matthew 24:36. "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the SON, but only the Father." This is thw Word of the Holy Father, and no one can add anything to this. I believe we should live and plan as if Jesus will not come in our lifetime. I believe we should expect His return at anytime and as Jesus said we are to "be ready". What do you think? Blessings. 111 | common questions by children | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 107447
justducky2: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. These are very good questions. Axien7z4 answered the questions quite well. I would add one thing. God created everything on earth with the ability to reproduce. He created mankind male and female, you know Adam and Eve. Not Adam and Steve as some would have us to believe. (Just a side note there.) God is neither male or female the same with angels. I hope this gives you some more to think about. Have you any thoughts? Blessings. justme |

TheFinalSQL: Norm, I have some strong feelings about my Baptist beliefs, I will not bring into play a way to slip in a jab or two to get my points out in the Forum that we have been asked not to do. I will either abide by what has been asked by Lockman or with respect and self dignity I will go to a forum that I can be out front with my beliefs. Your issue wit the name of Jesus Baptism is off bounds. Bring up as you did kind of offends me, please abide by Lockmans statemen! Thank you for your understanding. justme |

Mark705: The Open Bible published by Nelson mass produced the NASB in 1978-1979. There are a few Bible Book stores that have some still in the box. There are some Bible book stores that have used ones as well. Don't limit your search to just Christian book stores. Mant used book stores have lots of Bibles. I have at times found very expensive calf skin Bibles at very affordable prices. I consider the search as much fun as the finding what I am looking for. Blessings. justme |

114 | how to take a verse literally or not? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 108649
checho: Rarely will you run into having to decide if a verse is to be taken literally or as a statement of that paticular culture at that time. I say rarely but thers aee some. For instance a woman should not talk in church is one of those. Women were uneducated and ignorant, not by their choice either. Today we have very educated women who often have seminary and a Doctorate of ministry. I think a good study Bible such as the NASB Study Bible or the NIV Study Bible might be a good start to understand these verses better. What do you think? justme |

115 | About Premillenialism... | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 109431
Rowdy: I read the thread on your question, and the follow ups. I know it's a little past when you posted the note but I would like to give you a thought or two. I read Matthew chapters 24-26, and I for the life of me can not understand how messed up some people are on the end times. If Jesus gave us very clear things to notice and follow there is no excuse for thinking outside His words. By this I openly reject "the Left behind" mind set theology! I think you have a good way of calling into question end time study that does not line itself with what Jesus said. Blessings. justme |

116 | why don't people study the old testmant | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 115149
jct: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I read your profile and your honesty and desire to grow in your relationship with God is refreshing. Most people in their sixties don't look for God they are running from Him. You are not alone in your journey. May I suggest you get a Bible you can understand . The NIV Study Bible or the NIV Life Application Bible are very good and will offer you some real important helps to understanding the Bible. That is where I would begin. May I suggest you find a Bible believing church, and the sermons will also make things to help you know and grow. I hope you find growth and the Lord Jesus that is drawing you to him. If I can be of help please let me know. Blessings. justme |

117 | Searching for the truth | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 118503
FytRobert: May I extend to you my sincere understanding, of you most likely feel. To be slam-dunked by edged remarks is not where I come from, or was taught by Scripture, how Christians are to treat oneanother. To your question. How I understand you, is that by "points" is which pleases God most? Am I on the right path so far? I hope so. I have wondered at times which was most importand prayer or reading the Bible. I am no different than most men who are considered Senior Citizens, at least I hope not anyway. I admit there are times that Bible reading is not easy due to my mood or personal pressures or sin. There are times I don't want to pray, and it might be that I was curt with my wife and that stiffles prayer, believe you me it does. So my answer is it all depends. I do think prayer is personal comunication that is vital for being able to read the Bible, so God can speak to me. Then if my heart is not right before God, then Bible reading most likely would not be as much value to me, as I see it anyway. My Grandchildren say I am old as dirt, and at times I feel like it. However I think my feelings and response to God and His Word is as fresh as the day I ask Christ to be my LORD. I still marvel at the Grace and abundant overflowing Mercy He blesses me with. I am very undeserving, yet He is Faithful, and Steadfast in loving kindness to us all. I hope this encourages you, to know, many are like you and are growing day by day, with errors in our ways and seeking to be renewed each second by the might of the Holy Spirit, in the Power of Jesus Christ, by the Holy Father. Amen and Amen!!!!!!! justme |

118 | What is your take on Westcott and Hort? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 124306
Mark: This is pure poppycock! Westcott and Hort, have been so badly slandered it makes me ill. They had NOTHING to do that proves the garbage that missunformed Christian have repeated over and over and this lie has become gossip. You can use your search engine and go to Alpha and Omegis Ministry, Dr. James White, whom I went to college with, has this completly documented and you can download all the information you need. Nothing id more offensive than a ignorant Christian who refuses to see and believe the TRUTH, and continues to spread false information. This to me is a bad testimony. I for one believe cars are good and I drive one. But some still use horse and buggy and in 1611. Why sould anyone insist the King Jimmy is the best? Only those who choose to remain ignorant, unless they just love the KJV for its special language and it speaks to them. That is much different than being a KJV only cultist. Blessings. justme |
