81 | Is a marriage legal without a license? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 238425
ajt: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. First and foremost, it's illegal. That's just the same as saying words between each of the couple. I would call that just living together, and I believe the Bible supports my opinion. What is even more serious is any pastor that would knowingly do such a thing, without the papers to send to the state. The pastor would have violated his responsibility to obey the laws of the land, but also not obeying that we should be a witness by rendering to the government obedience to the laws. In the United States there is a wide spread beliefe that living together lets you know if you are best for each other, false. Many children are now born to unmarried woman, who wind up alone to raise children with no support. The "mr. Right" turned out to be wrong. When living together happend several times to the woman it does'nt take long before her and the children are in serious condition and the children have fewer chances to make a life above poverty. Real men honnor women and respect then, they don't just use women and then leave. God hates divorce, but even perha's more is those who use His Holy marriage union to become reacreational activity for wandering men and women. Justme |

83 | Female pastors Scriptural? Ref? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 163628
I see this is your first time in Study Bible Forum. You are welcome here. This subjecy has long been debated with scripture for each side's understanding of Scripture. In the end you must be convienced in your own heart. To find what scripture says look in the back of your Bible under Bishop, Deacon, Sheperd, and Overseer. Go and talk with your Pastor, and pray for God to give you wisdom as His Word says in James chapter 1. This is a search for wisdom and is best that you learn the answer for yourself, rather than several giving you conflicting opinions. There are Pastors that are women today, and there have been women pastors in our USA from the early 1800's. However just because a woman filled a position a man would not assume does not mean that a woman being a Pastor is God,s choice. My understanding of Scripture is a woman can serve in most positions in a church. However, I have serious doubts about a woman being a Pastor. I hope this encourages you to study the Word and come to a Biblical position you can defend with Scripture. Blessings. Justme |

84 | Questioning the age of accountability | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 167048
Welcome to the Forum! This question comes up from time to time, usually by someone who is suffering loss of a young child. I hope this is not you situation, if this is your burden my deepest sympathies are extended to you. Scripture does not state when the age of becoming accountable for our sin is. King Davis stated he would join his son in heaven, when he died as a baby. God is just and a fair Holy Father. Because He is a fair and merciful loving Holy Father, and it is not Hiw will that anyone perish , even more so with those who are unable to understand the full measure of sin or salvation by Jesus Christ. One can not reject Jesus if they can't understand who Jesus is. This stands true for those who are so mentally challenged as well. I take this from John cahpter 3. and the places that Jesus had the little children come to Him. I sincerely hope this helps in some way. Blessings. Justme |

86 | food in the church | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 170326
momaT: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! As an example everytime there were large crouds Jesus kned if the body is hungry the mind spends more on this hunger than what is said. This does not mean refreshments were served durring His teachings. The church we go to has coffee, tea etc. before the service and afterwards, but nothing is allowed in the church. People with physical problems like dry mouth, which I have quite severely, are permitted to bring a bottled drink. I am very cautious and discreet, as to not attract attention so children do not ask "how come he can but not me?" We need to keep in mind that we are there to WORSHIP and the respect for the awsome Lord is surely reasonable. Blessings. Justme |

87 | Is the Saved and Lost Position right? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 173503
bro Raymond: I have always defended the position that if genuine Salvation has happened that one can not become unsaved again. More often than not the person comes back with the standard verses to defend we are subject to be lost once again. Because you have studied Theology, I would like you to point out to me where God has ever broken a promise? I am assuming John spoke the truth in John 10, and this chapter goes to a strong point to assure us that no one can pluck us out of His hand. Paul says we have the Holy Spirit as a seal, or promis of our salvation. If, as recorded in Hebrews 6, we have tasted of salvation then we can not return to a saved state. This is not the way the chapter should be understood, as it was talking about jews who came close to following Jesus but returned to the "Old Law". It then became impossible to return where they once were. I can say this thqat might help, and this is not orignal with me. " faith that faulters, had a flaw from the first". I think this says this best. Blessings raymond. Justme |

88 | Most confusing book of Bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 174016
MJH: This is a very good question. I wonder is many will admit to havine confusion or even trouble understanding certian books. Here are the books I find sone problems of my own with. Ester, Job, Revelation. Then add these rejected books that have recently caused such an abnormal interest by novice Christians and some very liberal believers. Book of Judas, and the like. I do not consider some of these so called religious scholars that get on these tv shows and disgrace the soild Christian beliefs as being unfounded. Most non christians who do not know anthing about Scripture are blown around like tumbleweeds, and believe these foolish scholars. I read that the Bible is the most stolen book from bookstores. This seems so odd, and yet the Bible is so unread. |

89 | What if both parties want a divorce? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 175843
gatoiz: Welcome to the forum. Your question has had sound Biblical answers. May I add that by what you say and by what Jesus said, you BOTH have hardness of your hearts. Unless one of you see's you both are braking a Covenant you both made to your Holy Father and to each other. This is the biggest mistake you will ever make in your life! Scripture does say to live apart is better than to destroy each other. Because you both are Christians you have no scriptual reason or basis for divorce. Most every couple has some very hard times. The very damaging thing to your testimony is to divorce when Jesus said the the failure because of hardness of heart can be overcome, and you will be more in love than at first. Please seek out a professional Christian Counselor. Prove your love for Christ by honnoring the Lord Jesus Christ. Learning to love takes a lifetime, and you have a lot of time to mend your marriage. 90 | Need Help finding a certain NASB Bible! | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 178402
NMRHI believe I have that Bible. The numbers on the back of my Bible are 1-58135-1127 and the number below that is 873. The Foundation Publication price was 150. four years ago. I advise you to look with extra care, as the cover on mine is slightly off center. The price I paid was not reflected in the quality I received. I called Foundation Publications, Inc. several times and they informed me that this Bible is hand made. The binding is Smyth sewed, and the leather Calfskin is also made by hand and put on by hand. Frankly, for 150. I expected much better quality, or should I say a better crafted Bible for the price, and if it was done by hand someone did not do a very good job. Also the gold on the pages is easly turmed withe by the slightest bit of moisture, and the sections that make up the total Bible are poorly alighned. I am not pleased. I recently bought a thin line NASB, from Foundation Publications, genuine leather. The Bible cane from South Korea, and the leather is like wrinkled cardboard. I will attempt to avoid Foundation Publications, Bibles when ever I can. They are not up to other quality Bible publishers standards. I do not think Lockman has responsibility for what Foundation Publications does as far as quality is concerned. Justme |

91 | Your Favorite, Best Quality Bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 179574
TaureanMan: I liked your question, it's good to have an intrest in a Bible that will last to be passed down to family, who just might get ideas on how you searched the Scriptures. Evaluate where you are in your growt as a Believer. For just about everyone how to apply Scripture is constant for our life on this earth. I have a good number of Bibles, and my family says I collect Bibles, and when we go to the Christian Book store I go to look at the Bibles first. No matter what bible you select, make sure it's made of one piece genuine leather, NOT BONDED, as bonded leather is stiff and does dry out and begins to fall apart in a few short years. Genuine leather gets softer and protects better than any other meterial. Very few Bibles are Smyth Sewn any more. This is a binding that holds for many, many years. Smyth Sewn Bibles are more costly then other Bible bindings. Genuine Calf leather is the softest, best leather, again it cost more. Some Bible publishers have such leather, generally it is the top of the line Bible. For me I use the NASB Life Application Study Bible, in genuine leather, by Zondervan. It is ISBN 0-310-91161-3. There are several colors in the leather. The cost should be 75 to 90 dollars depending on where you purchase it. This Bible is made with good quality and the pages hold solidly, and there is nice room to make notes. My pastor uses the NKJV, and the NASB follows that version fairly well. I would encourage you to find a very Large Christian Book store and spend some time looking at the different Bibles. In my area Life Way's book store has a huge selection of Bibles and many versions to choose from. A leather Bible that's been cared for will last many years. I have one from 1959, and several others that I use often and I think the leather looks nicer the more the Bible is used. Once some one said to me that all Bibles should be read. No matter how nice the Bible, unless it's used it is not doing anyone any good. Hope this helps. Justme |

93 | how do you deal with seeing demons | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 180438
Anto: The suggestion of the others to seek medical attention is worthy to consider. However, I am interested in what you experience, and why you feel you have seen a demon? Are you a born again Christian? If so how do you know your a Christian. I look to hear from you. Justme |

94 | Reveren, biblical or not? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 183230
curtman: Your question is not one that I personally dealt with. To be real honest very few of us are reverend, as I see it. However the title is a way of showing respect. In my experience this title was given when a minister was ordained. At least that was the case in the churches I was a member of. I much prefer to have the title of Pastor. However, in our culture at graduation service from Seminary the professor and speakers are listed as Reverend Doctor ..... In Marriage services, and Funeral services, usually the minister is listed as Rev. ..... this is a sign of respect. Then again a Seminary graduate with a Master of Divinity is listed as M.Div. So it may seem a little complex but it does honnor those who have prepared for ministry, and taken the time and studies that at least says the person has the "head knowledge". That does not say this person has the "heart of Christ" which is not the same. Unless the heart and head are working together it's not of God. Blessings justme |

97 | WHY DON'T WE TEACH THE CROSS? | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 92971
GodMan: Welcome to the forum. Your qquestion sounds like this is an important concern to you. Ican not speak for what you have experienced, but I have not seen what you have. What church or churches that you know of that is disobeying or denies the Faith? I am not sure what it that you are asking. I think to make the assumption that we all are ingnoring this is a rather large assumption. Could you narrow your question down to a more manageable question please. Blessings. justme |

98 | NIV bible | Bible general Archive 2 | justme | 92977
Jak:You have gotten some good advice from several of best on the Forum. I read them all, and Hank put a lot of information that was excellent. I find no fault in what anyone has said. May I add a little more to whats been said. What are your reading skill level? Do you easly comprehend what you have read? Are you a new Christian or have you matured and beyond the milk stage? I ask these questions as your answer would help in selecting a Bible that will help you grow. I think as we mature in our Christian walk, we need to use a Bible that leads us to more growth. So the idea that one Bible should last you a life time is not where I am coming from. The NIV is written on a 6th or 7th grade level of reading. That's where most people are reading at today. The NIV Study Bible is a very good Study Bible. I have used it from it's first printing. IThe NIV comes in a students Bible and childrens Biblle. So what eeeever age the NIV has aBible for you. The trannnslators were all committed to the Word of God is Infallable and with error. One word about word for word and thought for thought Translations. There is no perfect way to translate exact word for word. There are as close as humanily possible word for word translations. They would be the NJKV, NASB updated, and some others perhaps the KJV. The NKJV and NASB updated read so close to almost word for word, but only small word choices. The NASB updated also comes in the Study Bible, and I have it as well, and this if my favorite. Both the NIV and NASB updated come in the Life Application Bible. I now have come to the point where I prefer just plain Scripture with no study helps. When I have questions I refer to the Study Bibles or other helps. There is abundant of Bibles in English, which is wonderful, but a bit confussig as well. Ask your pastor what he preaches from. Maybe he could offer you some added information. I wouldcaution you to connsider buying only a genuine leather Bible. Bonded leather is crushed leather mixed with glue and color and pressed out in sheets to make Bible covers. The short time results is it falls appart in a couple of years. Many Bible publishers offer a lifetime warrenty. I costs a little more but well worth the extra quality. Go to a Christian Book store and look at each Bible for your self and see what you like. You can go to many Bible publishers on the net by entering Bible Publishers and then look at the web sites. Have fun looking and buying. Blessings. juuustme |

DarcyA: I support every word you have printed. I praise the Lord for your courage to stand against WOF. I caution you, there will be a price to pay by some who continue to spread this cult upon ignorant believers. This will be a never ending dogma exchange by the WOF few that continue to disrupt this forum. I have no idea why they are allowed to be on the forum. Blessings. justme |
