141 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | TheCurtMan | 92956
No Sal, I’m not going to crucify you for your beliefs. As a matter of fact, I see no problem with what you’re saying. However, I do need a little time to meditate on it and pray about it. We both agree that not all will be saved. But for all who will be saved will have to work out their salvation. What I mean by that is, now that I have been saved, I must act like it. I have bad habits that need to be broken. I must study the word more; witness more; pray more; and continue to strive to be more like Jesus who was perfect. I will achieve that state of perfection, but I do not believe that I will achieve it on this side of life, but in the life after life. Until then, I must continue to strive for that goal, to be like Jesus. All this is as I said before, the result of being saved. :Please do not think that I’m terminating this line of communication on this issue. I’m not. I just need to give some consideration to this one particular point. I really think that you’re going somewhere with this, and I’d like to be around when you finally get there. The CurtMan |

142 | Can I get a description of hell? | Luke 16:19 | TheCurtMan | 114688
I guess a good starting place would be Luke 16:19. It talks about this rich guy that went to hell, (KJV). The guy was suffering greatly, and knew it. It mentions flames and the fact that the guy was in so much torment that he actually believed that a small drop of water off of someone’s finger tip would soothe him. He had his memory. He was able to remember the fact that he had brothers. He might have even remember people trying to pursade him to live a godly life. And more importantly, Hell is a oneway trip, once you go in, the ONLY time you come out is to be judged and to be cast in the Eternal Lake of Fire, your Eternal Resting Place, providing you’re not a Christian that is, Rev. 20:13-15. 143 | Can I get a description of hell? | Luke 16:19 | TheCurtMan | 114753
Russhell, I've taken the time to read the responses to your question regarding hell. I have to admit that Kalos gave a much more scriptural detail answer then I did. And I have to agree with Kalos in the regards that hell is a real place. It is as real as Heaven; as present day earth; even as the air that you're breathen. It is a real place. If you don't mind me asking, what provoked such a question?? And, are you satisfied with your answers?? |

144 | Children in Hell | Luke 16:22 | TheCurtMan | 92280
God's patience had finally ran its course. God showed that wicked nation grace for a number of centuries. Look at Genesis 15:12-16. God was promising the land of Canaan to Abram. He told him that the land would be his in about four hundred years. Why the wait? Partly because the iniquities of the inhabitants were not yet complete. When the timing was right, God sent in the Israelites to take over. There was a lot of bloodshed, yes. But if you would like to know why God wanted the Canaanites removed from the land, it was partly because God knew the Canaanites would have an effect on the Israelites and cause them to follow the same wicked ways they were being kicked outta the land for. For an example of this look at II Kings 17:5-23. Did they all go to hell including the babies? Rather the correct term is Hell; Hades; or the Grave, I have to say that personally I believe that they all did, even the babies. Four Hundred years is a long time for a nation to turn itself around and follow the laws of God. These people didn't care about God or his laws. The babies would have grown up in the same environment probably following the same sins that their fathers, and forefathers followed. God is the only one who really knows the could've and should've in an infants life. What is certain is that He annalated woman and children. Their eternal resting place I can only speculate on. And I have reason to believe that everybody went to hell. The CurtMan |

145 | Does Luke 16 use the term 'parable'? | Luke 16:23 | TheCurtMan | 86054
Dear Tim, Does it really matter rather Luke 16 is a parable or not?? The reason that I ask is because Jesus did not tell stories to pass the time. What I mean by that is that if you study the parables that He told, you see that their all based on lessons Christians need to learn. For example take a look at the Parable of the Soils, Matt. 13:1, then look at the meaning of the parable in v.18-23. Are you trying to tell me that you don't know peope that fit each situation within this parable?? How about the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares?? How many false teachers in the world do you know that is twisting the Word of God to the degree that the Children of God is having a difficult time decerning the difference?? Take a look at the answer to this one in V.36-43. The point is this, take the time to study the parables, get the understanding out of them, and know what Jesus is trying to tell you. Now take a look a Luke 16. One of my favorits to be honest with you. What's the lesson we need to learn here? Several. Jesus said something like it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven. Heres a man that had plenty, but what he didn't have was love, I Cor. 13:1-13 and Matt. 25:31-46. Ok, so the rich man ended up in hell. He was in great torment, v.24-25. V.27-28, this guy remembered his brothers. It must be a terrible thing to be in Hell and be able to remember your past life, especially remember those people who tried to keep you outta that place. V.29-31 tends to indicate that our salvation is based on the information within the scriptures, "Moses and the prophets" were a direct refference to the Old Testiment Scriptures. To answer your question, is Luke 16 a parable?? Personally, I don't think so because Luke was a real live individual that Jesus raised from the dead. Also, notice that in Jesus' Parables, He never really mentioned anyone by name. In this case Lazarus; Abraham; and Moses are mentioned. But like I said earlier, rather it is a parable or not it really doesn't matter, because Jesus didn't tell parables to just pass the time, there was a lesson He wanted to get across, an as a Christian, it's our responcibility to learn what that lesson is and apply it. Brother Tim, You have the fastest response time of anyone I've met on this site. My apologies for dipping in the Ice Cream without knowing what flavor it is. I hope your friend isn't a Witness. However; it really doesn't matter, either way you have a battle on your hands. My prayers will be with you. 147 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | TheCurtMan | 93603
Just for the record; If you're going to mention Copland by name, then it would also be fair to mention Hagaan and Hinn. They travel in the same circle and preach the same doctrine. Yes, they are false teachers and teach a false doctrine. Unfortunately not every detail of their doctrine is false. The CurtMan |

148 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | TheCurtMan | 93718
Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? I Cor. 5:6. This I know. What I ment was that if you took each and every detail of their surmon, examined it closely under what scripture actully says. The over all majority of what they say within that surmon actually checks out. It's just that one little lie, that one or two misconception that tends to through everything off. May I suggest a book called Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanagraff. He explains it alot better than I ever could. I know a mature Christian woman who liked listening to Hinn. We got into a discussion about his doctrine. She knew that not everything that he taught on was biblical. Her stance was on discernment. Her question to me was if a Christian has discernment should the baby be thrown out with the bath water simply because the water was dirty. I pose the same question to you. My answer, after consideration, was, "YES". The CurtMan |

149 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | TheCurtMan | 93873
Somewhere I missed the boat on your post. You say that Benny Hinn is a very proud man, but pride is one of the seven deadly sins, that is detestable unto the Lord, Proverbs 6:16-19. You say that he seems unteachable, so much for humility. I Perter 5:5 You say that you will go against his false doctrines, and you ask where to draw the line and say this guy has notheing to teach you?? Gal. 1:6-9 I know that you’re not going to like this one, but this man is not of God. He may have started out being for God at one time or another, but at present he is misleading a great many, and you’re one of them. God do not appreciate pride, the twisting of His word, and the misleading of His children. Rather you can accept the truth in love or not, you need to find yourself another spiritual example to follow. I believe that scripture says “follow me as I follow the Lord” If Benny Hinn was following the Lord, I believe that he should make a public apology for the doctrine that he teaches, and if nothing else, pull his books of the shelves so they can not mislead anyone else. And that’s just for starters. Oh, and one other point. It’s to my understanding that AIDS have a 100 percent fatality rate. How can this be if Benny Hinn has the power of healing?? The CurtMan |

151 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | TheCurtMan | 94002
If your mother went to a Benny Hinn crusade and was healed of cancer and her other medical problems, then the praise should go God. Actually that's the first documented success story I've ever heard come through that ministry. I mean I've seen the man on T.V., and I've heard of some of the healing stories, but upon further investigation, to my knowledge, none of the healings could show a before and after authentic medical documented healing of an illness. But if you say that your mother was healed of cancer, not that the cancer is in remission, but actually healed of it, then I will take your word for it. How is she doing these days anyway?? Last night I took the opportunity to look up the scripture verse that you quoted, Matt. 7:22. I noticed two very interesting points. The first one is in v. 15. Jesus was instructing the people to beware of false prophets. False prophets were as common in His day the same way that false teachers are common today. They both have the tendicy to take the word of God out of it's original context and twist it to imply something that it really doesn't mean. They both teach a false doctrine. I guess my first question would be, should we not also beware of false teachers and false doctrines today the same the people was instructed to beware of false prophets and false doctrines yesterday?? And if we fail to do this, are we not in violation of sound doctrine?? According to the information posted by the Radioman, you and I both were misinterpreting ‘Touching God's Anointed'. Since it doesn't appear to mean what we thought it meant, then what other reasons do you have for following Benny Hinn?? The second thing that I noticed was in v.22. "Did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?" Now this one I literally lost sleep over. Where did these people get the authority to cast out demons? I don't think that it came from God because in v.23 Jesus said, "I never knew you". The only other reasonable place would be the adversary. But that one caused a problem to. In Matt. 12:22-26 Jesus cast out a demon. The Pharisees accused Him of doing this through the devil. Jesus' answer indicated that the devil can not cast out demons. So where did the people get the authority to cast out demons. Eventually I had to settle for the bottom line. It doesn't matter where they got their authority from. The bottom line is that they were truly deceived into thinking that what they were doing, they were doing for our Lord and Savior, and in actuality they were not. Jesus said, "I never knew you, depart from me..." I think this is one of the reasons why we should be careful of who we follow. There are going to be many that says, "Lord, Lord", and they might even have a large congregation themselves, but in the end, they will not make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. The CurtMan |

152 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | TheCurtMan | 94006
The temperment of your post seems to be of hostility. Do I come across the same way to you?? You asked me if I followed sound doctrine. Personally I think that's a bad question because of course I'm going to say, "Yes". However; if someone was to point out biblically where something that I believe in was a little off base, I'll listen to what they have to say, pray and meditate on it. God will eventually see that I get the right answer. Do you really believe that no one has taken the time to approach Hinn on his doctrine?? It's to my understanding that he has been approached on several occasions. But much like you said, the man isn't listening. You're quick to rush to the defense of Hinn, but what about the people that his doctrine has affected?? Hinn, was at one time a believer of the Faith Doctrine. Rather he still believe in that doctrine today, I can not say. Anyway, as you probably know, this doctrine taught that sick people was sick because they did not have the faith to be made well. Hinn was also a believer of the Name it and Claim it Doctrine. This doctrine taught that you can speak things into exsistance It really didn't matter if it was the Will of the Lord or not I'm aware of a true story where a follower of a Faith Teacher was diagnosed with an illness. The cure exsist, the treatment was simple. This guy refuse to claim it. As a matter of fact, he had all the faith in the world, how could he be sick. He ended up dying. He was the head of his household, left behind a wife and some children. His wife who was also a believer, changed her belief, and shared her story with many. You rush to the defense of Hinn, but look at the damage that his belief is doing to people. I don't hear you standing up for them. And just for the record, I'm not attacking Hinn, nor his doctrine, at present I'm just stating the simple truth. You also stated to show you where you were wrong in touching God's anointed, would if be fair to assume that you did not read the post sent to you by the Radioman?? This is part of what he had posted, I suggest that you read the entire thing: 'Advocates [of authoritarian rule or unconditional authority for certain preachers and evangelists] assume that Scripture supports their view. Their key biblical proof text is Psalm 105:15: "Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm" (KJV). But a close examination of this passage reveals that it has nothing to do with challenging the teachings of church leaders. 'It first needs to be noted that the Old Testament phrase "the Lord's anointed" is typically used to refer to the kings of Israel (1 Sam. 12:3, 5; 24:6, 10; 26:9, 11, 16, 23; 2 Sam. 1:14, 16; 19:21; Ps. 20:6; Lam. 4:20), at times specifically to the royal line de-scended from David (Pss. 2:2; 18:50; 89:38, 51), and not to prophets and teachers. While the text does also mention prophets, in the context of Psalm 105 the reference is undoubtedly to the patriarchs in general (vv. 8-15; cf. 1 Chron. 16:15-22), and to Abraham (whom God called a prophet) in particular (Gen. 20:7). It is therefore debatable whether this passage can be applied to select leaders within the body of Christ. 'Even if the text can be applied to certain church leaders today, in the context of this passage the words "touch" and "do harm" have to do with inflicting physical harm upon someone. Psalm 105:15 is therefore wholly irrelevant to the issue of questioning the teachings of any of God's "anointed." The CurtMan |

153 | How has the "Passion" film changed you? | Luke 24:26 | TheCurtMan | 115616
As a matter of fact. I was just stating in another post that the movie has given me a stronger desire to "love thy enemies". I doubt very seriouly that I'll be able to explain this as clearly as I'd like, but according to Eph. 6:10-12, my battle is not with flesh and blood. I believe that the adversary can use people to accomplish his will. He uses them as vessels. To watch all those people yelling for Jesus' crucifixion in the courtyard of the movie, just ate me up. We as Christians need to love one another as commanded by Jesus. For if we don't show the world love, true love, who will?? The adversary?? I believe he'll be getting his chance soon, and according to scripture, he messes it up big-time!! |

154 | Who to blame for killing Jesus? | Luke 24:26 | TheCurtMan | 115617
Jesus did come to die for us. And the Jews were responcible for crucifying Him. But do that justify what they did?? They lied on Him; belittled and degraded Him, then they turned around and nailed an innocent man to the cross. That was why He was here, but do that make what they did right?? Was it not Peter who stood up and accused the Jews of crucifying the Lord of Gory?? Was he right in doing so?? Judas' reasoning for betraying Christ really was not about fulfilling prophecy, but it was about the money. At least that's what I got out the movie. The CurtMan |

155 | How has the "Passion" film changed you? | Luke 24:26 | TheCurtMan | 115801
Ok, so the movie elaborated on some facts that isn't in scripture. Does it really matter?? The original question was, How have the movie Passion changed you? When I saw the movie, my focus was not on the inconsistencies of the movie, I expected that. My focus was on the God, who got up off His throne, came to earth and died a horrible death. Not just so I could escape the eternal damnation that I deserve, but also so I can spend eternity with Him. Now rather the movie went overboard in some areas regarding Jesus' suffering or not, Jesus did suffer, GREATLY. So the movie does not meet everyone's expectations, what biblical base movie that you know of does?? Rather Mel Gibson has hit the nail on the head with this movie, or missed the mark, the movie itself has Christians and non-Christians alike discussing it. Great witnessing opportunity don't you think?? The CurtMan |

156 | Jenhovah's withnesses church ? | John | TheCurtMan | 85824
Greetings!! I have spent much time studying about the Witnesses, The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and discussing scripture with the Witnesses. Their beliefs are so far out in left field that you can not find them by radar!! They do not believe in the Trinty. They acknowledge that Jesus is a god, not the God of the Bible, but a god. If Father God is a God, and Jesus is a god, then that leaves alot of room for polytheism. They give more credit to the adversary being a person then the Holy Spirit. Plus they're exceptionally good at twisting scripture. Unless you are a very mature Christian on a completly unshakable foundation, I'd personally suggest that you stay clear of them. If you'd like to discuss their beliefs and compare it to what scripture actually says, I'm willing. I still have all my notes and other information including the New Worlds Translation Bible-an example of how a bible should not be translated; Reasion from the Scriptures, and much more. However; if you're already engaged in study time with them, I strongly suggest that you go out and purchase two books. The First book should be a Parrallel Bible which includes the NASB; the NIV; the King James or the New King James. The Parrallel bible lined up with the New Worlds Translation will really aid you in seeing the difference in perspective between the truth and the joke. Secondly I suggest 'Reasoning from the Scriptures with the Jehovah Witnesses', it's by a guy name Ron Rhodes. You will be in my prayers The CurtMan |

I know this story about this guy that fell down three flights of steps. He broke up the entire left side of his body, arms; legs; finger; toes; the whole nine yards. When the was reading off the list of broken bones the guy kept praising God, finally the doctor asked him why he was praising God when he did so much damage to the left side of his body. The guy replied, "I could have done the same amount of damage to the right side of my body as well, thin I'd really be up the creek."
159 | Am I once and forever saved? | John 3:16 | TheCurtMan | 85308
There are at least two verses of scriptures that has direct implications to your question. Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Simply put, there is no sin that a Christian can commit that will condemn them to Eternal Death. Christ has already paid the price for all our sins, past; present; and future. If by chance you might get the impression that as a beliver you can do as you will, I STRONGLY suggest that you read Romans chp. 6;7; and 8. The second verse that deals with your question would be John 3:16 and 18. v.16 "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him SHOULD NOT PERISH but have EVERLASTING Life." V.18 "He that believeth on Him IS NOT CONDEMNED, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God." These verses, as well as a number of others, taken in context, proves God's Love for you as well as your Eternal Salvation, and there is absolutely NOTHING in Heaven or Earth that can separate you from either. This biblical principle can be found through the entire reading of the 8th chp. of Romans. The CurtMan |

160 | How can one be sure of his/her salvation | John 3:16 | TheCurtMan | 85313
Dear Kalos, In veiwing your question, I recalled a time when I had the same concerns. So I'd like to share this story with you. "How can I be sure of my salvation??" That was my question. I was hit with the definition of Faith. "Things hoped for but not seen". "That is how you know that you are saved, through faith." For me at that time that one didn't get it. Then I was given passages like Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" That one kinda helped alittle. For me, I became more assured of my salvation through my attitudes and actions. Salvation can not be earned through good works, but it was the Spirit within me that prompted me to do the things that I ordinarily would not have cared about. Like studying the bible, changing my attitude, and striving to develop the Christian Characteristics in Gal. 5:22. All these things combined with everything I was told aided me in the assurance of my salvation. God has an enemy, more powerful and craftier than man. If this enemy had his way, the children of God would be a memory and no one would even care about God or His expections. If you care about God and His expections, you have the same enemy, and believe it or not, that's a good thing. Something else someone told me when I asked that question, they said, "The simple fact that you asked that question shows that if you're not sure of your salvation, you will be soon, providing that you really are a Christian, and providing that you've asked God the same question." I sincerly hope that my testimony helps you The CurtMan |
