3 | is there importance to the two woman boi | Ex 24:10 | mark d seyler | 191788
Leviticus 26:27-29 (27) If you will not listen to Me for this, and shall walk contrary to Me, (28) then I also will walk contrary to you in fury. I also will chastise you, I also, seven times for your sins. (29) And you shall eat of the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat of the flesh of your daughters. This was given as a result of Israel's disobedience, and so here in 2 Kings 6:29 "And we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her on the next day, Give your son, that we may eat him. But she hid her son," we see the fulfillment of this. Love in Christ, Mark |

5 | Sin during chasening? | Rom 5:8 | mark d seyler | 191773
Hi LJ777, Romans 5:7-11 (7) For with difficulty one will die for a just one, (for perhaps one even dares to die for the sake of the good one), (8) but God commends His love to us in this, that we being yet sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, being justified now by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through Him. (10) For if while being enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life; (11) and not only so, but also glorying in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we now received the reconciliation. God chastises every son, and that doesn't change. Continued sin may bring continued chastisement, and it may be grievous indeed. Jesus died for us when we were dead in sin. Now, being alive in Christ, God will most surely sanctify us. Love in Christ, Mark |

6 | Who was God addressing in seven churches | Rev 2:1 | mark d seyler | 191771
HI jlowe, Great question! Rev 2:1 "To the angel of the Ephesian assembly, write . . . " While we generally think of "angel" as a non-human spirit-being, the words simply means, "messenger". It is used of humans in James 2:25, referring to the spies that entered Jericho. To the Ephesian messenger, Jesus says, "you have left your first love." The the Smyrnan messenger, "don't be afraid of what you are about to suffer." I think that these angels, or messengers, are those individuals that bring God's message to those individual churches, what we would think of now as the pastor. I think that the first letter may have been given to Timothy in Ephesus, the second to Polycarp in Smyrna, and so on. Of course, we know that these letters are also intended for the people in those churches themselves (he who has an ear let him hear), and to all churches (what the Spirit says to the churches). But they are first addressed to that person whom God refers to as "the messenger", and I see that as indicative of our responsibility towards those whom God has placed in our care. I hope this helps! 7 | Dino eat meat or plants preflood? | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 189551
There are a number of animals that have large sharp teeth that are plant eaters. Fruit bats have teeth that look like they would tear flesh, but they eat fruit. There is a Chinese deer: "As has already been mentioned males do not grow antlers. However, like most of the Muntjac species of deer bucks have well developed canine teeth. The bucks use these when fighting with other bucks, or when defending themselves. They are especially sharp, and capable of causing severe injuries on opponents. When fighting the tusks are used for stabbing or slashing. In old animals the tusks can be broken or show visible signs of wear and tear. The canine teeth can grow to 6 cm in length and protrude down from the upper lip. They are often described as being fangs or tusks. Females also grow tusks, but they are much smaller than in the males, mostly being only 1 to 2 cm in length. The tusks of the females are rarely visible. The tusks have a special muscular hinge, which means they can move slightly to make grazing easier." (from www.worlddeer.org) There are many examples of this. Unless we are able to observe an animal's eating habits, we don't actually know what they are. Love in Christ, Mark |

8 | Tithe vs Debts | 2 Corinthians | mark d seyler | 189471
Hi MLB, I would offer this suggestion. Praying for guidance, read 2 Corinthians 8-9 carefully, slowly, and several times over the next couple of weeks. Meditate on these chapters. Take small sections, and think about them, prayfully, considering what each verse is saying, what it actually means about giving. There is our part, there is God's part, there is how we are to go about it. Look at other passages on giving, such as the Sermon on the Mount. "Stealing from God" in not tithing comes from a failing to obey the Old Covenant, and is not found within the New Covenant. God will lead you individually, according to His special plan for you. All you have is His, you gave it to Him when you gave Him your life. Now its up to Him to decide whether to pay the banker more quickly, or more slowly, whether to give all you have to others, or to give a tithe to your church. Commit within yourself to serve Him however He leads you, and to trust Him for your needs. I have seen God use a variety of means to straighten out my financial house, and He continues to use this area of my life to mold me, conform me to the image of Christ. Seek His leading for you, and He will lead you where you need to go. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

14 | How does it relate to everyday life? | Matt 5:7 | mark d seyler | 188107
Hi sam84, I've noticed that everyday someone does something that I don't like. All the time people are doing things that aren't right, and that effect me adversely. I could stand up for my rights, demand punishment, and apologies, or just fume and resent them. God teaches us that He, to a certain extent, uses ourselves as the yardstick we'll be measured against. "Judge not, or you'll be judged." "With the measure you use . . ." Or this verse. Also, to the extent that we've become like our God, we will act like Him. So here's my application. I want God to be merciful to me, so I am merciful to others. Anytime someone does something to me, I think of all those things I've done that God could, and should, judge me for, and I show mercy to that other person. And I realize that if I'm truly His child, I'll be like He is, and act like He acts. And when I am merciful to someone else, deciding that I'm not going to be angry, or punishing, or resentful, but rather that I will want them to receive less then what they are due for their wrong behavior, and instead to help them, this tells me that I'm becoming more like my Father, and that I too will receive mercy from Him, and that's a good place to be! I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

15 | What is sound doctrine?M.Royal | 1 Tim 6:3 | mark d seyler | 188105
Hi M.Royal, Sound, in this verse, is from the Greek "kalos", which means beautiful, or good. It is used of excellent, and honest. Doctrine is teaching. So sound doctrine is beautiful and good, excellent and honest teaching. Love in Christ, Mark |

18 | Michael ; Isarael's protector? | 2 Thess 2:7 | mark d seyler | 188067
Hi InGodITrust, So basically, you're saying that Michael the Archangel, rather than being the active protector of Israel, is the "keeper of the pit", and passively protects Israel by keeping at bay one of its foes? Love in Christ, Mark |

19 | Who is the restrainer? | 2 Thess 2:7 | mark d seyler | 188062
Hi InGodTrust, This reminds me of Genesis, where God says "My Spirit shall not always strive with man," as He decreed their coming judgment. I think the same as you do, that God has been restraining evil throughout the history of fallen man. Even as God exiled man from the garden, He set His angel to block the way, lest a worse thing happen. But where I have to stop is before saying that God does this through the church. I am not saying that this isn't true, just that I don't see where that is actually taught in Scripture. I would freely change my view if I actually saw the Bible teach that the Holy Spirit restrains "the mystery of iniquity" through the church. Are you aware of such passages that you can show me? Love in Christ, Mark |

20 | Can you lose your salvation? | Ps 18:2 | mark d seyler | 187795
Well, your 50-50 split won't be solved here! That debate has proliferated on this forum as well. It really, in my opinion, comes down to this. Some say that those who seemed saved and now seem not saved never were saved, others say that they have lost their salvation. I believe that the new creation is created in righteousness and holiness, and never dies. Others disagree. You may want to search "OSAS", "Eternal Security", in our archives. Also, if you go to your favorite salvation verse, and click the little "N" next to it, it will show you all comments posted about that verse. Happy hunting! Love in Christ, Mark |
