41 | Why Miriam was cursed and not Aaron | Numbers | mark d seyler | 183534
Hi Animat, Since the passage doesn't specify this, we really can't know why, we can only speculate. Perhaps Mariam was the instigator? Perhaps God spared Aaron since he was the priest? Perhaps some entirely different reason? Love in Christ, mark |

42 | Please clarify end time signs? | Luke 21:32 | mark d seyler | 183532
Hi Ermin, This word that is translated "generation" can mean "the entire group of people born in this certain time", but it can also mean "this entire line of people", such as a nation or ethnic group. Based on this, it's possible Jesus was saying, in effect, the Jews will be be destroyed or obliterated until total salvation of the remnant is completed. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

43 | Educational guarantee for life and godli | Prov 22:6 | mark d seyler | 183498
Hi Finder, We call this book Proverbs because that is what they are called in the first verse. These are sayings, an alternate translations might be parables. They are not promises. If we read these as a book of promises, we have a bigger problem then just that one verse. There are many that are not exactly true in every instance. But this isn't a problem with the Book of Proverbs, its with how we understand the Book of Proverbs. Probibly the simplest way I've heard it expresses is that these are not promises, they are probibilities. No matter whether you agree with this or not, the thing to do would be to determine whether or not these sayings are intended to be received as promises, or wise sayings to be heeded because the will lead you along the path of living a better life. My two cents worth, anyway. Love in Christ, Mark |

44 | Jesus during death | Eph 4:9 | mark d seyler | 183416
Remember what death is - the separation from of the soul from the body. When Jesus died on the cross, His soul was separated from His body, as any other man. But also like man, the soul does not end at death. But unlike man, Jesus was able to re-unite with His body, and come back to life. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, mark |

49 | releasing bitterness to young people | Eph 4:31 | mark d seyler | 183178
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Releasing sounds like simply "letting go", but the Bible tells us to put it way from us. Its an active word, something we intentionally do. Notice how it is listed with anger, and wrath, and malice, and clamor, and slander. These are all things we harbor in our hearts against others. We justify them to ourselves as if it was our right. Heb 12:14 Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Heb 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; Sanctification means a setting apart for God. As we are sanctified, as God removes from our lives and who we are those things that do not serve Him, we need to cooperate with Him. But if instead I choose to allow bitterness to control a part of me, then that part is serving my own sense of injustice, or jealosy, or whatever it may be, instead of serving God. We have the choice. We can either receive God's grace, and allow that He will correct all wrongs, heal all hurts, and cover all with love so that we are useful to Him, or we can choose to be angry, bitter, wrathful, slandering and malicious. If we choose to serve God, then we must actively and purposefully reject bitterness, and put it off of us as deliberately as we remove a coat when we come inside. When we sense within ourselves those feelings and actions which arise from bitterness, we must make the choice to not feel that way, to not act that way, and treat bitterness as sin, displeasing to God, to be repented of. And by God's grace, the more we do this, the more successful we shall be. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

52 | what is the perfect or divine Will of Go | Ps 103:19 | mark d seyler | 183129
The LORD is sovereign over all. His rule is absolute, and nothing happens that HE does not either instigate or allow. This, however, is where a great many part ways. There are some who will answer that God is the originator of all that happens. There are others that will answer that God has given the ability to others to choose things for themselves, and that God respects the dominion that God gave. In application, the first view is to say that God placed Adam in the garden with the intent that Adam would fall into sin, as that was what was required to accomplish God's purpose. The second view is to say that God placed Adam in the garden, and, while God know what Adam was going to do, even still, God left it up to Adam whether to sin or not, and whether Adam sinned or not, God would still accomplish His purpose. I believe the second view, that God does not require sin to accomplish His purpose, but though evil men persist in sin, God will nonetheless perform every intent of His heart. I hope this helps! 54 | Gen 19:16 | Gen 19:16 | mark d seyler | 183103
Hi Becky, And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. The key phrase here is "and they brought him forth, and set him with out the city." Brought and set are in the form of these actions happening to Lot and his family. But what exactly this means we can only speculate. Lot was dithering, and the angels removed him. By taking his hand and walking through the city gate? By supernaturally whisking them through the sky over the wall? I don't know. I suppose you could say that the angels weren't waiting any longer, and they used however much for they needed to for Lot's and and family's removal. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

55 | Could someone explain proverbs 31 to me. | Prov 31:1 | mark d seyler | 183100
This is a son rehearsing the instruction his mother taught him. Simply put, this is of: 1. Responsible living in consideration of his station in life. 2. The responsibilties of a leader of the people. 3. The value and description of a good wife. While this is certainly oversimplified, I think that what Lemuel's mother wanted him to understand was that these are certain things you should avoid, but these others, these are things you should want, and of all these, to be married to a good woman is right up there at the top. To which I would give a hearty "Amen!" Love in Christ, Mark |

56 | First rain and first rainbow | Gen 9:13 | mark d seyler | 183096
Shalom, Azure, There in no mention of rain prior to the flood, and since we have the explanation of the mist, I expect that the first time it rained was the flood, but this is, admitedly, an argument from silence. I would further expect that the same mist that watered in Eden watered all the land. I would, however, say that it is entirely possible in my opinion that it may have rained prior to the flood. I don't see anything in Scripture that prohibits that view. My answer is simply based on how I read it. In Gen 9:13, the sign of God's covenant is the bow in the clouds. He says, specifically, "I do set my bow in the cloud." From this I gather that whether or not a "rainbow" had been seen before in the mists, or a waterfall, it hadn't been seen yet in a cloud. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

57 | 144,000 men Vs. the meek and heaven | Rev 5:10 | mark d seyler | 183094
Hi Lory, Revelation 5:10 is from the song sung by the 24 elders, who are seated around God's throne. The 144,000 have not been introduced into Scripture yet at this point. Revelation 7:3-8 introduces the 144,000 sealed Jews. These are the firstfruits, or those first saved, from the Seventieth Week of Daniel (compare with ch 14). Rev. 7:9 introduces yet a different group, who is suddenly appearing in heaven as the 144,000 are being sealed on earth. This innumerable multitude is, I believe, the newly raptured church. These will return to earth with Jesus at the end of the final 7 years, to live upon the earth with the faithful remnant of Israel, and those who survived the tribulation and judgment. So there are the 24 elders around the throne in heaven. No information is given about who these are, or what will become of them. There are the 144,000 sealed Jews. These are saved and protected at the beginning of the Seventieth Week (the "Tribulation" as it is commonly called). These will join with Jesus before the throne in heaven half-way through the Seventieth Week, and will apparently return with Jesus at its end, to live with Him upon the earth. There is the innumerable multitude. These are in heaven, and will go where the lamb goes, and so will return with Him to the earth. There will also be those martyred during the Seventieth Week. These will be resurrected at the end of the final 7 years. One thing to remember is that Jesus will rule upon the earth for 1000 years, and the faithful will be with Him. In the eternal state, God and faithful man will live together, in an existance apparently both heavenly and earthly at once. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions concerning this. Love in Christ, Mark |

59 | how do you feel about my previous postin | Gen 6:2 | mark d seyler | 183082
Hi Russ, This is a response concerning your previous post. What happens in the future concerning faithful angels or faithful resurrected humanity does not determine what may or may not have happened concerning unfaithful angels in the past. The argument that angels procreating with humans is outside of the natural order agrees with Scripture, and that is why they are punished. The “biology” or workmanship of angels is not explained in Scripture. I disagree that the Book of Enoch is required to show this understanding. I believe that it is fully supported by Scripture alone, and I never referrence the Book of Enoch as substantiation of any teaching, aside from the small portion quoted by Jude. Satan is said to be able to “transform himself into an angel of light.” Angels have often appeared as men, sometimes eating our food with us. The Bible does not specifiy what powers or abilities angels do or don’t have, beyond certain limited referrences that are not presented as exhaustive. Fallen angels have deceived mankind in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. Jesus prophesied that many false christs shall appear and will deceive many. But Jesus died, and rose again, and that is presented in the Bible as something only He will do. He fulfilled prophecies that were not able to be fulfilled by anyone other than the Messiah. Jesus was attested to in ways that no other man or spirit can be. Many agree with your view concerning this incident. But none (that I am aware of) agreed with it prior to around 300 AD, when the historical-grammatical literal interpretation of Scripture began to be abandoned for a more interpretive, allegorical style. This incident in particular was deemed difficult to defend to the scoffers, and so it’s defense was discarded. There is not, again, to my knowledge, any record prior to this time that these “sons of God” were any other than fallen angels, and were actually the “sons of Seth.” I hope this will serve as an adequate answer for you. Thank you for asking! Love in Christ, Mark |

60 | What does 1 Cor 13:10, mean? | 1 Cor 13:9 | mark d seyler | 183075
Hi Edwin, I would like to add a slightly larger context to this discussion, if I may. Paul has been writing about the spiritual gifts. Chapter 12 verse 7 is what I believe to be a key verse in this discussion. "But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." Romans 12 takes this same viewpoint, that God gives spiritual abilities to us so that using those abilities we can serve each other. Paul then teaches concerning these gifts, but then he takes it to the next level. He says, desire the greater gifts, but I show you a more excellent way. No matter what gift I have, without love, it's meaningless. Love in the main thing. The gifts are incomplete, and when the complete is come (compare to Eph. 4:1-16), the fully matured and finished body of Christ, these incomplete gifts will be done away with, but love will remain. For we know (word of knowledge) in part, and we prophesy (gift of prophecy) in part, but when that which is perfect (teleios - having reach its end - finished - complete) is come, that which is in part will be done away. You want to prophesy, you want word of knowledge. These are more, shall I say, flamboyant than, say, the gift of helps. Its good to want gifts that edify the body, but its far better that you should love. These gifts will pass away, but love never fails. So seek foremost to love, but also desire the spiritual gifts (14:1), as the tools to put action into your love. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
