742 | Unreasonable? | Bible general Archive 2 | mark d seyler | 126776
Hi Stultis, I don't think it is unreasonable for us to ponder anything if our heart is in sincere and honest pursuit of God's truth. "Seek, and ye shall find!" Jesus said that as Jonah was in the belly of the fish so he would be in the heart of the earth. This does not mean that Jonah was actually in the earth, but that one thing illustrates another. Jesus uses the familiar account to illustrate the point He is making, but that does not change the meaning of the original story. In Ex. 20:9-11, God says that as He created the the heavens and the earth in six days, then rested on the seventh day. He blessed that day, and told the Israelites to likewise rest on that day. The simple plain meaning of this is that these are days as we know them, as we would rest on the seventh day, that is the kind of day God created in. Hebrews and Psalms speak of the day of rest in the grander scheme of God, particularly Hebrews. We are to cease from our own work, and enter His rest. Hebrews uses one thing to illustrate another, but again, that does not mean that it changes the meaning of the original story. Love in Christ, Mark |

743 | Skeletons of evolution? False? | Genesis | mark d seyler | 126726
Hi Henry, We do not have to dismiss the fossil finds. Dinosaurs could have easily lived before the flood, feeding their huge bodies on the massive vegatation growth. The razor teeth of T-Rex, for instance, long assumed to be a predator, would be the perfect carrion eater. Noah could have easily taken dinos onto the ark as babies. The Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose TX (they have a website - site-search fossils) has numerous examples of modern fossils that show fossilization can happen quickly, and that just because something is fossilized does not mean its excessively old. My favorite of theirs is a fossil of a sewn sandle having stepped on a trilobite! Skeletons of "partially evolved" humans have without exception been shown to be either outright hoaxes, or of people with known physical maladies. The Paluxy (sp.) River in Texas has fossil dino footprints with human footprints inside them. The point is, the fossils and other geological finds do not contradict the Bible, but they have by and large been falsely interpreted. I hope this helps. Love in Christ, Mark |

744 | Born Again Christians - Why so weird? | Bible general Archive 2 | mark d seyler | 126709
Hi Henry, Those who are daily walking in the Spirit, produce the fruit of the Spirit, agape love (love that devotes itself to the object of that love). This love becomes their chief characturistic. Those who do not actually know the Lord Jesus, or who do not keep His word, will not have this love. We will see in those people the works of the flesh, and those works do not attract others to Jesus. In the parable of the tares, Jesus told us that the enemy would plant look-alikes, but that they would not be true. Our mission is to minister to everyone around us, believer, unbeliever, or unknown, and allow the Lord Jesus to give us understanding and guidance to how He wants us to do that. 1 John 2:5-10 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 745 | A question for all men - please answer! | 1 Pet 3:1 | mark d seyler | 124896
Hi Joy, I have mentioned a wife's submissive role perhaps twice in our marraige, both times as we have been studying those portions of the Bible together. Beyond that, it's between her and the Lord whether or not she obeys His Word. The last time we talked about it, I made a point to show that God give one instruction the wife, one to children, and three to the husband/father. I do not "pull rank". If I pattern the way I treat my wife after how Jesus loves His church, well, suffice to say that I do not always do what God wants me to do, and He doesn't always force me. Sometimes He lets me find out the hard way that I should have followed His plan. I am prepared to allow her the same opportunity, or to act unilaterally in case of something that could really be devastating, just as God does with me. I thank the Lord that 99.999 percent of the time we are in unity. In case of absolute impasse, I turn to God. It's His rule, and we are His servants. It's always been solved through prayer. Love in Christ, Mark |

749 | WILL A BABY IN THE WOMB GO IN THE RAPTUR | 2 Thessalonians | mark d seyler | 123296
In Exodus 32 God tells Moses that everyone who sins He will erase from His Book. If this is the Book of Life, we all begin life in the Book, and as we sin our names are removed. The Bible mentions names being blotted out of His book, but they are never added (let me know if that's not correct). He speaks of our names being in the Book of life from before the foundation of the world. All that to say this: The baby who has not sinned is in the Book. If God removes all who are in the Book of Life, the babies go too. Or He may do as Paul wrote to the Corinthians, if a parent is saved, the child will go. Bottom line, the Bible does not actually say.
