581 | What does Isaiah 35: 8-10 mean? | Is 11:16 | mark d seyler | 160637
Hi jdukes4, Crossreference to Isaiah 11:16, and to Isaiah 19:23. This passage in Isaiah 35 gives us some clues. Following the vengeance of God (vs. 4), the earth is restored, everyone healed, this is a prophecy of after the return of Christ, when He establishes His kingdom. God has chosen Egypt and Assyria, along with Israel, and there will be a roadway between these three nations. Isaiah 19 gives more information on this also. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

584 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | mark d seyler | 160545
Hi Captarcan111, 1 Pet 3:3 Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. God wants you to be focused on Him, and on who you are in your heart, which is the real you, not just the outward appearance. If you spend your resources, time, money, on your exterior, which will fade with time no matter what you do, and neglect the matters of the heart and of the spirit, what will you do when that is all you have left, and you have not made your spirit to be beautiful? Inner beauty is the beauty that lasts. Isaiah (53:2) wrote of Jesus that He was not physically attractive, yet there is none more beautiful than He is! Take care of yourself is much as is reasonable, but focus on the inside. Love in Christ, Mark |

585 | salt and light | Matt 5:13 | mark d seyler | 160531
Hi NightJay0044, Ask all you wish to your heart's content! I also hope that you will study the Holy Word, and share the results with us. :-) 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour (to become insipid, act as a simpleton), wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden (reject disdainfully) under foot of men. Salt has two primary characturistics. It gives flavor, and it preserves. We give flavor to the earth (to whom?). We preserve the earth. God told Abraham that He would spare Sodom if He found 10 righteous in it. God will not judge the earth until the righteous are removed. I am to freely live my life in Christ, so that my contribution makes this earth a better place to live in. I am to extend my authority in Christ to counter the evil in this earth, and intercede for others, so that there is less harm come because I am here. Lev 2:13 And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. Nu 18:19 All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee. Salt, in the sacrificial system, was a symbol of God’s Covenant with man. The fact that there are born-again people shows God’s New Covenant with man. But what if, though still being salt, we have no savor? Please also check the archives on this passage, there is some excellent material there. God Bless! Love in Christ, Mark |

586 | God's Trust | Luke 16:10 | mark d seyler | 160407
Hi Nightjay, In so many words, yes! Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? Jesus, in the parable of the talents, tells us that He first tests us with small things, before giving us larger things: Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. It's not so much that He trusts us, because He knows us. He knows what we will do before we know what we will do. But He does start us small, working us up to larger, as He matures us. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

590 | tomorrow is promised to no | James 4:14 | mark d seyler | 160120
Hi Aj1, I know of an insurance company that says that all the time to sell life insurance, but it's not in the Bible. There is a verse, James 4:14 "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.", which perhaps if they quoted it they might sell a few more policies. ;-) Love in Christ, Mark |

593 | not understaning... | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 159908
Hi Amanda, To be unequally yoked is to be paired with someone with whom you do not share the same degree of faith, or maturity, or commitment. This is when you want to go to church 4 times a week, and do daily devotions, and your husband wants to watch football. Or if you want to give a tithe to the church, and leave it at that, and your husband wants to sell the house, the car, donate everything, and become a missionary in Africa. Unless you share the same vision as your spouse, and the same faith, there can be trouble. "A little leaven" is a little sin. If you tolerate it, you will find it everywhere. From what you have said, I would agree with you that there are some concerns about your marrying this man. I recommend the both of you see the pastor of your church for pre-marital counselling. I would recommend that you not tie the knot too quickly, but instead focus on the Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians (not just him), and give yourself time to grow in the Lord before doing anything permanent. God bless you! Love in Christ, Mark |

594 | tell me what you think | Bible general Archive 3 | mark d seyler | 159901
Hi JimmyHen, Mohammed did not claim to be Christ, so he was not a false Christ. Since he did claim to be a prophet of God, and his writings disagree with scripture, he would in fact be a false prophet. Osama-bin-Laden, if he claims to be a prophet, (I do not know if he does or not), would be a false prophet. Since there was nothing "miraculous" about the terrorist attack on 9/11 (anyone can crash an airplane into a building), I do not believe this is what the Bible is talking about as "signs and wonders". Whenever this phrase is used it seems to be referring to the working of miraculous signs. In the Revelation, we are told the beast will cause fire to come from the sky, for instance. This will be a deceiving "sign and wonder". What did happen that was miraculous on 9/11 was that only a small fraction of the people who were supposed to be in the Twin Towers were actually there. Countless storys have been shared of "a changed dentist appointment", a "flat tire", "sudden headache", family illness", and so on. God spared many thousands on that day, in spite of what these criminals intended. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

Hi Noveta, If the "sons of God" were the sons of Seth, and the "daughters of men" were the daughters of Cain, then why would their children be any different than any others? The indication is that these children shared common traits that set them apart from the other children. Those that promote the idea of the "sons of God" being human say they are from "the Godly line of Seth". But when did a believer marrying a non-believer cause their children to be born "giants", or whatever else the "nephilim" were? But meanwhile, the whole world, with the exception of Noah's family, was judged wicked, and was destroyed from the earth. Did this "Godly line" remain Godly through nine generations, only to become completely and entirely corrupt in the tenth generation? Is there any scriptural basis to support that? Love in Christ, mark |
