So, you are basically hanging your hat on 1 John 1:9. In light of the fact that Christ's sacrifice was accepted as payment in full, what is there left for Him to do? Is he supposed to die all over again? 1 John 1:9 is not a believers passage, it is describing our salvation experience. Don't you have to throw out a whole slew of other passages to cling to just that one? The Lords prayer does not apply, as you know, the cross is the dividing point of all things. | ||||||

Hi Dr. Steeno Pardon me sir but you have me kinda confused. Are you suggesting that somehow the cross has rendered the Lords pryer inconsequential and ineffective because of Christ's work on the Cross? And that somehow God is not going to look with favor and Grace and Mercy at a penitent heart? I would suggest, If I may, that you read Ps 51 with special attention to verse 17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise." I don't think Our Father who art in Heaven, minds at all when we confess "with contrition"! Even in a court of law, a confession with no sign of sorrow often leads to a maximum sentence! Oh no my friend, contrition, is always good for the soul! God bless John |

Shabbat Shalom brother John, Well said. I think our Father adores spending time with his children. Look at all He did to make communication with Him possible! We don't always have to have a "need" to go to Him in prayer, just a desire to have fellowship with Him. Maybe I've got it all wrong but when I go to Him in prayer, more often than not, I just discuss my day with Him, what made me happy, what made me think of Him, things I'm thinking about doing tomorrow, etc. He's my God, my Father, and He's my Friend, too!! I think He's interested in the nothing stuff that makes my day that makes me, me. Like I said, maybe I've got it all backwards, but that's my view on prayer. Cheri |
