1 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 92795
I have noticed that many churches across America have (to me anyway) no semblence of a house of worship. I'm told that they are intentionally designed this way so that "unchurched" people will not feel threatened when they walk in. We have music that blasts as loud as rock concerts, drums, guitars, lights and sound sytems to rival any concert hall, comfortable seats, ample parking, and even food courts(!) It's all in the packaging, so I'm told . . . our job is to get 'em in the door, make 'em feel welcome and "at home" so that they can "hear the Gospel" and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Is this meeting the needs of the world or "conforming" to the world? Is this necessary to reach the world with the Gospel? |

I believe that this is conforming to the world. When my husband and I returned to the church we were both very afraid of being in a place that felt like a church. But we didn't go to one that was very large or "showy", the one we were both saved in was a very small down to earth church. We felt the Spirit in that church which is something that isn't as easily found in the larger churches. It doesn't matter if you get them in to hear the Gospel if they don't feel the love and comfort of the Holy Spirit. Just because they are there and comfortable does not mean that they are "hearing" the Word. If they are comfortable it makes it alot easier to " play Christian".

Greetings - a few questions for you to consider - 1. How does a "church" feel? 2. Why is this something to be afraid of? 3. Could you be mistaking fellowship and intimacy for the "love and comfort of the Holy Spirit? 4. Since when does God require others to demonstrate these to His children? 5. Since you are "more comfortable" in the church you attend, are you "playing Christian?" How does John 6:44 relate to "How to win the world? Blessings, mommapbs |
