Subject: How to "win the world" ? |
Bible Note: Hank, you asked: "The big question is, are they being fed in an atmosphere that resembles a carnival or a rock concert more than the church of the Lord Jesus Christ?" What, in your mind, would be the elements necessary to distinguish a church from a concert hall? How does one create the "atmosphere" of sacredness? (Can it really be done?) The emphasis of my church is to "get em in and get em saved." Sadly, the numbers game of church growth has triumphed again and those older folks are being cast aside, to make room for the younger generation who needs the Gospel - the youth are the source of church growth don't you know! So now what do we have, a bunch of young bucks, with lots of vim and vigor who have come with a "better way" to win souls . . . I like your observation about the feeding of the 5,000 - they were hungry and Jesus fed they what they needed - are we feeding them what they need or what they want? Knowing you need something is not the same as wanting it. I guess you can see that I rather upset about the theatrical, peformer orientated "worship" that so characterizes the modern "evangelical" church today! Is nothing sacred anymore? mommapbs |
