I think that a lot of churches should get away from the dog and pony show stuff and stick to the script. 2 Tim. 4:2 KJV Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Tim. 4:2 Be ready to spread the word whether or not the time is right. Point out errors, warn people, and encourage them. Be very patient when you teach. If you teach it they will come. Believers need to be taught Bible doctrine on a consistent basis, and not just the doctrine of Soteriology. It’s a shame that all believers that are five years or older, in the Lord don’t have a clue about what the following mean! Theology, Angelology, Anthropology, Bibliology, Dispensational Theology, Christology, Ecclesiology, Eschatology, Hamartiology, Pneumatology, Satanology/Demonology, Theology. Generally speaking Heb. 1:3-6 isn’t even being taught! Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit. I think that the church is the place where the believers should be built up so that they can actually reach the lost; then when the lost are saved they can be directed to a church for the deeper study of God’s Word. Ephes. 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: It’s not the job of the pastor to reach the lost, it the job of the saints. It’s the job of the pastor to train the saints and build them up and as a result there will be a chain reaction and the church will grow. I need a pastor that can dig from God’s word and reveal things from the Bible that I can’t find on my own! Not very popular is it? CDBJ |

CDBJ; My reply is a personal testimony concerning the following comment of yours; "It’s not the job of the pastor to reach the lost, it the job of the saints." While in church yesterday, the message we received in the service, was given by a missionary from Gabon, Africa. She emphazied the important fact which you mention here, that it is not just the Pastor's job to do the evangelizing, the missionary, said it's the job of each one of us to accomplish. I keep being reminded from the Lord, that I am to pray that the Lord will prepare hearts, that are ready to hear the saving message of the gospel. I then pray that the Lord would prepare me also, as I go out into the world, into my workplace, into the market place, in my neighborhood, or where ever the Lord wants to send me. I pray that I would be a clean vessel, that God can use to witness to a world that is lost and on its way to hell. Then I pray for the Lord's guidance and wisdom, and surrender my whole being, to Him. I pray and ask God to use my feet to take me to those individuals whose hearts He has made ready, and that He would use my mouth to speak His words, not my words. In my experience, when I have begun my day in prayer like I mentioned, then the Lord has giving me success in witnessing to others, and that has been in answer to prayer. It truly is God's desire to use each one of us for His glory, but it gives us each encouragement and boldness to witness further when we see success in our seed planting and witnessing. Praise be to God, to Him alone belongs the praise honor and glory. Blessings New Creature |

New Creature Good points. When a Pastor shares the "Good News" many times people think, 'what do you expect it’s his job to say that' or 'He has to say that he is a pastor.’ That is why in fund raising drives pastors many times will get lay people to share how God blessed them when they gave. If the Pastor said the same thing people always wonder about his motive. But when a lay person shares the "Good News" and since people can't find an ulterior motive people are prone to take it to heart. Also in many cases before you can really share Jesus a relationship has to be formed. It is hard for Pastors to form relationships with people they meet only occasionally. Lay people are working and playing and have formed these relationships with people that need to hear the “Good New”. Therefore they are already positioned in relationship to do something that a pastor might never be able to do. Somehow Satan has effectively convinced the church body that it’s the pastor’s job to get people saved, that you have to know theology and the Bible inside and out before you can share Jesus. That to share Jesus you have to be bold and get into people’s face, That if people aren’t getting mad at you, your not doing a good job. That no one cares what Jesus means to you, the only thing that matters is what is written in the Bible. If you don’t use a lot of religious words your really not sharing Jesus. Because of one of these reasons and others I haven’t listed people are not sharing Jesus. They are working playing, and living near people that are dying and going to hell and they have never even made an effort to share Jesus with them. I actually know a family that got mad enough at a pastor to leave the church because the pastor didn’t get their brother in law saved the day they had him in church. Yet they never sat down and talked with the brother in law themselves. EdB |
