I think that a lot of churches should get away from the dog and pony show stuff and stick to the script. 2 Tim. 4:2 KJV Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Tim. 4:2 Be ready to spread the word whether or not the time is right. Point out errors, warn people, and encourage them. Be very patient when you teach. If you teach it they will come. Believers need to be taught Bible doctrine on a consistent basis, and not just the doctrine of Soteriology. It’s a shame that all believers that are five years or older, in the Lord don’t have a clue about what the following mean! Theology, Angelology, Anthropology, Bibliology, Dispensational Theology, Christology, Ecclesiology, Eschatology, Hamartiology, Pneumatology, Satanology/Demonology, Theology. Generally speaking Heb. 1:3-6 isn’t even being taught! Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit. I think that the church is the place where the believers should be built up so that they can actually reach the lost; then when the lost are saved they can be directed to a church for the deeper study of God’s Word. Ephes. 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: It’s not the job of the pastor to reach the lost, it the job of the saints. It’s the job of the pastor to train the saints and build them up and as a result there will be a chain reaction and the church will grow. I need a pastor that can dig from God’s word and reveal things from the Bible that I can’t find on my own! Not very popular is it? CDBJ |

CDBJ Greetings in our Savior's Name! What an awesome post. Thank you! You wrote:"It’s not the job of the pastor to reach the lost, it the job of the saints." AMEN! I recommend to you Brian McLaren's "More Ready Than You Realize" an excellent book on postmodern evangelism. (And like it or not, this is the era in which we are living) Blessings, mommapbs PS:Sometimes I get so discouraged, but just today I was reminded that each day I wake up it is one day closer to the Day! |

Hi mommapbs, Whenever I see certain words they trigger thoughts of Scripture in my memory and here is what the words “More Ready” triggered. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Whenever I talk to someone I am always looking for a key and a way that I might be able to introduce Jesus into the conversation. Many times we have to win the opportunity to witness to a person about Christ. Just to blurt out, HAY ARE YOU SAVED is a real turnoff to most people and all it does is muddy up the water to where people won’t listen to what you have to say. We can learn a lesson from the enemy. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: We can be sober and be vigilant and move about as a lamb seeking whom we my release from bondage. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. The message of our wonderful Savior is the key that looses those that are held captive. 2 Tim. 2:23-26 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. Have a great day, CDBJ |
