Hi Hank, Send me red wine and I will drink that. My doctor advise me to take some redwine, it is good for the heart and also help level of blood colesterol. I believed that I can drink wine (and it is not a sin) if my motive really is to improve health it is the same of taking medicine as doctor prescribe. But other reason I dont think I will drink wine. In the first place most of the wine I dont like the taste. I dont know if I read the thread correctly, if really it is a sin to drink a wine, my argument is it is ok if it will help your health improve. Drunkeness, of course we know it is prohibited, but Paul advised Timothy to drink wine for his stomach sake. So it is not really sin to take wine (more good if it is for health purposes) Tim was right not all the wine mentioned in the bible, is the same that we have today. Here in the Philippines, we have sometimes a alcoholic brebarage that can blind the drinkers even in small amount (thatnks God that company closed already) There are cases also that some of the drinkers cannot get off the bed and die in the morning of last night when they take that brevarage. Me myself did drink that brevarage I said when I was in high school (I am really a heavy drinker that time, before I know Jesus Christ). God bless, Johnny |

Hello, Johnny-of-the-Phillippines! Doctors' opinions do, in fact, vary regarding the medicinal benefits of alcoholic beverages, chiefly wine. One of my close Christian friends is a physician who has written a book on nutrition. In it he sets forth his professional opinion (supplemented with scientific data) that wine is not beneficial but, with its additives, can be detrimental to health. Before moving to my home city, he was on the staff of Mayo Clinic and has spent a major part of his professional career studying the science of human nutrition. --Hank | ||||||

I hope it wasn't his scientific scholarship which had him exiled to the nether reaches of Arkansas! :) --Joe! |
