1 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 39610
Greetings Jdthcstl! Are people saved based upon being worthy or are they saved through faith in Christ's atoning work on the cross? Consider the following Scriptures: 1) Acts 2:21 - "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’" 2) Acts 15:11 - "No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”" 3) Acts 16:30 - "He then brought them out and asked, ‘‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, ‘‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”" 4) Rom. 5:9 - "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!" 5) Rom. 10:9 - "That if you confess with your mouth, ‘‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." 6) Rom. 10:13 - " for, ‘‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”" 7) 1 Cor. 15:2 - "By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain." 8) Eph. 2:5 - "made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." 9) Eph. 2:8 - "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast." 10) 2 Thess. 2:13 - "But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth." If you notice, not one of these verses says that we must be worthy of salvation, nor do they say that we can be worthy of salvation. Salvation is accomplished solely by and through Christ. We can't earn it! We can't be worthy of it! We can't buy it! It is a gift according to Rom. 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." It simply is not Biblical to say that God will judge us based upon our works, and if the good outweights the bad, we will be saved. Our salvation is through faith and grace alone and cannot be earned by us in anyway. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Christ is a force of righteousness. And so when we become christians, we must try to live a christian way of life. Doing what pleases God. You can not live a life of sin, if you truly believe in God. You must live good lifes, you must do what is right, not what is wrong. Christians hope for goodness, not for evil. Goodness is doing things right, evil is doing things wrong. And it is biblical stated that there will be a day of judgement. And God will judge us according to our deeds.

Greetings Jdthcstl! I agree that we Christian should live right! However, that is different from what you said in your previous post. There, you were making the case that our salvation depends upon how we live. This is simply not supported by Scripture. We are saved by grace through faith, not by works. My salvation does not, nor will it ever, depend upon anything I do. It all depends upon what Christ did on the cross. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
