Romans 1:3,4 "Concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;" And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead". God placed his Son in the line of David "according to the flesh" as a sign of royalty to the Jews. Joseph was a descendant of David, but was not actually the father of Christ, as we know.
