1 | Andrew please explain? | 1 John 1:9 | RAVEN | 37423 | ||
Hello Andrew, I would like for you to clear something up for me. In your response to godschild 73 you wrote, "If you have not been born again then ask Christ to save you from you sins, be baptize and continue to live after the scriptures." Why did you say be baptized? It is my understanding from the rest of the forum that baptism is not needed. Even though I do not side with the rest of the forum for I believe that baptism is essential for salvation if done the right way and with the understanding of what the person is doing. I would appreciate it if you would tell me which side you are on since in your reply you mentioned baptism. Thanks, Raven |

Listen Raven I am encourage by your boldness. I myself follow the truth and I don't care who goes against me. Now Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior told us to be baptized. The apostle also baptized in the name of Jesus. I believe the scriptures and them only. I believe that all scripture was inspired by God and let every man be a lie and God the truth. Of course we know that everyone baptized by water is not saved but everyone that is saved has to be baptized by water according to the commandment that Jesus gave. There are two things that Jesus told us to do that deals with the flesh but pertains to the spirit. One is to be baptise by water which a symbol of the real baptism by fire. Read Rom. 6:1-16. Baptism shows the world that we have been change and gives them a physical understanding of baptism. The second thing Christ told us is to keep communion. As often as we decide to do communion, it should be done in rememberance of Christ Jesus. This is symbol of the commitment that we have given to Christ. It can be compared to an engagement ring. The Apostles are not the only ones who baptized but it should carried on until Jesus comes back. For those who don't believe in baptism, what can you say about Acts 2:38,Acts 8:12,8:16,8:36, Acts 16:33,22:16, and what about I Cor. 1:13-17 where Crispus and Gaius baptized people in Corinth and Paul preached the gospel. Hello Andrew, Let me see if I can understand your angle on baptism. You say that the only reason a person is baptised is because they are saved. Is this correct? So then you adhere to the belief that one is saved be "accepting Christ" and baptism is just for show, is this correct? Then lets look at this, If I ask you to cut my grass and rake my leaves for this twenty dollars, would you have the twenty before you cut and raked or after? I think you see where I am going with this. Lets analize Acts 2:38. It says "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins". So they were to "repent" (cut grass)first, then "be baptised" (rake leaves)second, for the "remission of sins" (twenty dollars). Can you not see that a person is not in a saved state until the act of baptism is completed? The idea that baptism shows something to the world is just plan wrong. Baptism is for God and thats it, the world doesn't care about baptism. You see it is necessary for you to leave out two verses that tie the necessity of baptism together with salvation to try and make your point, even though you have twisted the meaning of Acts 2:38. And those are Mark 16:15-16 and 1 Peter 3:21. Mark 16 15And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He who believes "and is" baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 1 Peter 3 21There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Its funny, the word "repent" isn't in Mark 16:16, but we all know that we have to. Yet in both scriptures Mk 16:16 and Acts 2:28 the word baptism is there bigger than life and the world still wants to ignore it. And in 1 Peter 3:21 it says "answer of a good conscience toward God" not to the world! I tell you with this kind of thinking, that one is saved before baptism a person hits himself going and coming because they insist on ignoring what the bible has said. And as far as the Lords Supper the bible teaches if you read on that the Apostles of Christ meet on the first day of the week to break bread not when they felt like it. Acts 20 Ministering at Troas 7 Now on the "first day of the week", when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. Which corresponds to the first day of the week when Christ had risen from the tomb. Matthew 28 The Risen Christ (1) 1 Now after the Sabbath, as the "first day of the week" began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. However we being 21st century Christians should follow the examples of Jesus and His apostles and it says, Acts 2 42And they "continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine" and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. I hope that I have been able to encourage you to rethink your stance on baptism and on the Lord's Supper. It is important that we stay with what the scripture teaches or else we are worshiping in vain. Matthew 15 9And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men."'[1] Your friend in Christ, Raven |
