Subject: He is Faithful in Forgiveness! |
Bible Note: He is Faithful in Forgiveness ************************************** God has made a commitment to His people, and He is faithful! All throughout the Old Testament He directed His people continually through the prophets to come back to Him and to worship Him. When we truly confess our sins to Him, we are saying the same thing about sin that God does, and we are seeing sin, in a sense, from His point of view. The Lord is just and faithful and He will respond to those who confess their sins in a way that is in accordance with his nature and faithfulness. He has promised to forgive us and to restore our communion with God by cleansing us of our sin (Heb. 10:22-23). Forgiveness and fellowship within the family of God is restored when we confess. The false teachers that John is referring to would not admit their sin, but the genuine Christian would not only admit their sin, they forsook it (Psalm 32:3-5; Proverbs 28:13). Confession of sin characterizes a genuine Christian, and God is faithful to cleanse us of our sins (Isaiah 1:18), making us whiter than snow! - Nolan |
