1 | Why the 7th day bent? | Col 2:16 | fliha | 2091
Genesis to Revelation is Gods Holy Word. The old covenant is not the book of law and bondage and the new covenant the book of grace. Genesis to Revelation is a book of grace. King David sins should of cost him his life. (Gods grace) Just as the adulterous womens sin should of cost her life. (Gods grace) Salvation is through grace by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He who is the way, truth and life. Our life in Him is based on relationship, not legalism. This applies to us as well as the old coveenant saints. The Torah (first 5 books) declares Gods desire to have relationship with His people, and He declares that He has given us His law (Torah-instruction) for our sakes. The ten commandments was written by the hand of God Himself. God did not make a mistake and change the day. Man did that. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Again thankfully keeping sabbath or any other law does not make us righteous only trusting in the Lord. I do not think going to church on saterday is a superior way, nor eating certain foods, celebrating christmas and easter etc etc is superior. Our relationship with God is what is important. We are free to obey His commandments and to live in them. God bless |

2 | Why the 7th day bent? | Col 2:16 | charis | 2101
Dear fliha, Except for the 3rd and 4th paragraphs, (and possibly some of the spelling, grammar, and puctuation preferences:-) I thought I was reading my own writing! That means we agree on more than 66 percent of the issue. Even parts of the other two I agree with. But, the Torah was given to the Jews, and is now a 'tutor' to lead us (Christians) to a new, better covenant. "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith." Galatians 3:24 NASB. As you said, "Our relationship with God is what is important." It is no longer according to the blood of bulls and goats and the keeping of special days. Every day is a day of the Lord. We do not have the tablets 'written by the finger of God.' Moses destroyed them because Israel 'played the harlot.' We have God's Word as recorded by His servant Moses. Israel could not, and would not obey the Law. Indeed, God did not make a mistake, He gave us a better way, instead. The Sabbath, which Israel could not keep, was glorified. "THIS is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NASB (emphasis mine) By grace, we CAN keep the day of the Lord. Whatever you do, have a great day in the Lord. In Christ Jesus, charis |
