1 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | charis | 2007
Dear TerryM, Well said! I agree that our mindset should be to give to the Lord the first and best of everything he has given us, including our time and the days of our lives. The only reason I asked for clarification was for the benefit of our audience. Many Christians in these 'busy modern days' feel that whenever they have time they will serve God, and if they have any money left after taxes, needs and wants, then give it to the Lord as an offering (bribe? :-) I understand that some people cannot get every Sunday off, but if this is chronic and-or permanent, then maybe it's time to get a different job? There is a casual attitude toward God these days that influences many 'good Christians,' but they consider it a 'right.' Sister, trust me that I was making not accusations against you :-) Blessings in Jesus' name, charis |

Sunday is not the Sabbath saturday is.
3 | 7th day | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2047
Where is your scriputural reference for SATURDAY is the Sabbath? It says "Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God..." |

As Charis wrote: "Jesus rose on the *first day of the week*, and we celebrate that and honor it in our hearts, not in a 'legal' manner. Sister TerryM said it best, "The Bible says give of the first fruits of your labor." This is an attitude of honor and worship, supeceding the letter of the Law, which has been clearly abolished. I, personally, consider Saturday to be a day of thanksgiving and preparation, but *Sunday is His day*," . . .Look in ANY translation of the Bible or ANY Bible dictionary or ANY commentary or ANY standard wall calendar (not those little executive appointment calendars). The FIRST day of the week is SUNDAY. Start with Sunday as the first day of the week, OK? 1) Sunday. 2) Monday. 3) Tuesday. 4) Wednesday. 5) Thursday. 6) Friday. 7) _______ (fill in the blank). What day would be the 7th day? If you still don't understand, ask a rabbi. The Jewish people have celebrated SATURDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY as the Sabbath for three thousand, five hundred (3,500) years. This isn't rocket science. |

5 | 7th day | Col 2:16 | oscar2 | 31208
As Charis wrote: "Jesus rose on the first day of the week", he kept the Sabbath. the days are named in the Bible as: -The first day of the week. -the second day of the week. -the third day of the week. -The fourth day of the week. -the fifth day of the week. -the day of Preparation -the Sabbath. The first day of the week is the Day of the Lord, it is when creation began, it had also to be the day of resurreccion (for the same reason), we can celebrate this day as we should celebrate every day. The day of preparation is the sixth day, but the Sabbath is the day that the Lord rested, after creacion and after his passion, he rested on the grave He did not violated it. I respect the fact that you consider Saturday a day of Preparation, that is your decision. But the point is not that you are wrong, but that the day of Preparation (biblically is Friday). I agree that the day of the Lord is the Sunday, but do you agree that the Sabbath is Saturday? That's the day that is commanded to rest, because in the seventh day He rested, and because he put not your Sunday, but the Saturday as a sign, by which he will recognize us. After all, He put his laws in our heart, but it is up to us to follow them or not, and nobody can judge us if we do not do it. God Bless you Oscar |

Oscar: I appreciate you and honestly have no wish to be quarrelsome. If I have given offense, I apologize. I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. :-) You write: "I respect the fact that you consider Saturday a day of Preparation, that is your decision. But the point is not that you are wrong, but that the day of Preparation (biblically is Friday). I agree that the day of the Lord is the Sunday, but do you agree that the Sabbath is Saturday?" In my previous postings I have said over and over and over and over again that the Sabbath is Saturday. I don't know how I could be any clearer or plainer. I am not the one who said Saturday is the day of preparation. Did you not see that I was quoting Charis who said, "I, personally, consider Saturday to be a day of thanksgiving and preparation, but *Sunday is His day*." I admit that in that post I was kind of fuzzy in my use of quotation marks. I can see where that would cause confusion. For the 40th time: Saturday is the Sabbath. The Sabbath never was changed to Sunday. I don't know how I can make it any plainer. Grace to you, kalos |
