1 | Mechanical Instruments? | Eph 5:19 | Hank | 51924
Tim, as you of course know full well, the 150 psalms which constitute a book of the Bible, are replete with references to all sorts of musical instruments that were in common use in the ancient Semitic world. It seems both unreasonable and unlikely that God would proscribe the usage of them as instruments of adoration and praise to Him in our time. There really isn't any scriptural foundational support for using a cappella music alone and hence banning instrumental music as an adjunct. --Hank

Greetings Hank! Oh, I fully agree my friend! Music is a wonderful blessing, one which I try to use to glorify my God with every chance I get! :-) I have all of my valuable instruments with reach of me right now - my computer, my books, and my piano. It is my goal in life to glorify God with each of them! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Well, Tim, I'll have you know you aren't the only Mozart-in-the-making! I play a little classical guitar. Well, the guitar is standard size, but my playing is sub-standard; hence, my use of the word 'little.' Christopher Parkening has made a wonderful CD (and cassette tape) of Christian hymns which he renders beautifully on the classical guitar. My songs of joy and praise to the Lamb are not nearly so dulcent coming from my classical guitar as Parkening's, but I pray that they are acceptable to Him just the same. --Hank
4 | Mechanical Instruments? | Eph 5:19 | Morant61 | 51940
Greetings Hank! I know the feeling! The last time I played for church, I had a major cold and had taken some strong medicine prior to church. Anyway, I was supposed to accompany my 10 year old daughter when I completely forgot how to play the song! ;-) I'm glad the Lord looks on our hearts, and not our performance! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hello Tim Well at least you had an excuse for your "senior moment." :-D I also play guitar, and it's terrible when you go blank -- for no reason -- in front of everyone -- while you're trying to lead. Come to think of it, I've had those moments behind the pulpit. Steve |
