1 | Righteousness of God? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 120120
Jesus Christ is the "righteousness of God." (Romans 3:21) However, using this reference, (2 Cor 5:21) I was told that believers are the "righteousness of God." Might one get the notion of acquired divinity - (we will all become gods) unless we focus on the words, "IN HIM?" I'd appreciate some input here!
2 | Righteousness of God? | 2 Cor 5:21 | terrib | 120125
Hello Mommapbs, I know by your past posts that you do not believe that "we will all become gods". But, we are promised that in Him we share in His glory. Please reference the following Scriptures: All are in the present tense! (Eph 2:6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (2Pe 1:3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (2Pe 1:4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We are partakers of the "divine nature", and since Christ is the righteousness of God then we also are the righteous of God through Christ. terrib |

Hi terrib, In reading your post, your theology sounds right but the grammatical timing is off a little. You stated in your post. “All are in the present tense!” Actually all the verses you mentioned are in the Greek AORIST tense. Which is a point of time divorced from time and perpetuated forever. The point of time referred to, is the point in time when one puts all of their faith in the finished work that Christ did on the cross; it would be closer to the English past tense, it already happened when one trusted in Jesus and God regenerated them at that point. Ephes. 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Ephes. 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Have a great day, CDBJ |
