Jerome, who translated the Apocryphal books into Latin, explicitly said they were non-canonical. Is he Bias too. Only two ancient councils and those not widely authoritative approved the Apocrypha. A later one was the Roman Catholic Council of Trent in 1545. Paul acknowledges that God gave the oracles to the Jews and the Jews do not canon the Apocrypha. No where do God take that away from them. Saved or not. | ||||||

It is also a fact that fragments of every Apocryphal book was found along with Old Testament Books in the Dead Sea Scrolls. So what does that prove? Only that some consider them cannon and others don't. We can't make a dogmatic statements unless facts support them and in this case the fact are no conclusive. I personally don't consider them canon but I will correct anyone that says they can prove they are or are not. EdB |

EdB, where did you get your information. That the Apocryphal book was found along with Old Testament Books in the Dead Sea Scrolls? Book and Author, Please. My source says all but one Book of the Old Testament was found and that was Esther. And none of the Apocryphal. This was copyrighted 1990. Have there been new informantion released after that time? | ||||||

There is new things being discouvered every day however I'm presently reading the a book on apologetics by Josh MacDowell that mentions it. Also some of the newly released material of the Dead Scrolls now reveal fragments of all( I think) of the Apocyrpha has been identified. Here is just a brief excerpt from MacDowell's book with Bibliography info should you want to reda it for yourself. The advocates point also to the Dead Sea Scrolls to add further weight to their belief in the Apocrypha. Among the fragments at Qumran are copies of some of the Apocryphal books written in Hebrew.
