Bible Note: Kalos Doc and All I apologize. I thought the statement was made that Apocrypha was added to Catholic Bibles in reaction to the Reformation. That is patently false. However I'm also wrong, what was really said was and I quote, "Roman Catholics added the apocryphal books to their canon thirty years after -- and in reaction to -- the rise of Protestantism." That is on face value factual. The Catholics did in fact codify the Apocrypha after the Reformation questioned whether it should be included. However the fact remains the apocrypha was included in the Bible before that and it remained for some time after that. I apologize to Doc for my mistake. EdB |
