1 | Praying in Tongues? | 1 Cor 14:1 | Searcher56 | 76762 | ||
1 Cor 12:28 "And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues" Taleb, This verse shows me tongues is a lesser gift (vs 31) and I believe 14:5 supports that. Where I think Paul is saying that tongues is useless w/o interpetation. The both exist today ... but, I think some churches are putting trends over the truth. Tongues is a known language to someone in the audience ... done by one person at a time, then interpeted (max of three people). Searcher |

Amen, Searcher. Amen. Perhaps the Corinthians were, as some of today’s Churches (but, Praise God, definitely not all) “practicing trend over truth". But we mustn't allow trends to discredit truth, correct? Rather we need to let the truth challenge "trends" back to the Biblical. That's where 1st Corinthians 14’s "purpose" comes in. Your closing "argument" offers great evidence re-enforcing "God's way" over man's. Taleb |
