1 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | EdB | 10495
Yes your right the case is neuter, however it is talking about the end of the church age. When does the church age end? When Jesus returns. That is why I and others said when Jesus returns. It makes sense, the gifts started the church and the gifts should cease at the end. You also said the sign gifts are no longer needed. Aren't there still unbeliever to be convinced? Of course there is. Therefore the sign gifts are still needed. |

2 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | Makarios | 10497
I agree with you on this EdB.. There is nothing in Scripture for us to believe that these gifts have somehow been 'lifted', or not given or dispersed amongst believers today by the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit. I have a great friend of mine who speaks in tongues although I don't. Another person that I know considers himself as a 'prophet' and speaks in the "Prophecy Club".. I never rule these gifts out- you could have them, you may not have them. I do not have either one of these gifts, but I do have the gift of encouragement... :) Blessings! Nolan :) |

3 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | glory777 | 10506
Bless you, Nolan and EdB! I have not used all the gifts, I don't feel a pull to use them, although I speak in tongues for myself and have the gift of exhortation. I just want to be open to whatever and wherever the Lord wants to use me. I think this is one subject that will never be agreed upon by all believers. One of my favorite teachers (I listen on the radio) is Chuck Swindoll. I may not agree with everything he says but I learn so much from him. He said on one program that his brother-in-law is Charismatic and that they do not agree, but love each other and respect each other. I think that just may have to be the situation. In 1 Cor. Paul speaks on how all members of the body are important to the function of the body. I don't believe he was just talking about the gifts of the Spirit, but about all the people in the church, and on a broader scale (and I may be stretching it here) the different denominations of the Christian Church. We all can work together, share together, and draw people to the Lord showing them the way to salvation and how to live in obedience to our Maker. Peace- Debbie |
