1 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | Appleseed | 10328
If a person does not speak in tongues does it mean they don't have the Holy Spirit in them? I know that speaking in tongues is a gift but is there another view?
2 | No speaking in tongues, no Holy Spirit? | Acts 2:4 | EdB | 10365
Appleseed I believe the teaching on the Holy spirit is some of the most mis-explained teaching there is. When you are saved you receive the Holy Spirit, your full, there is nothing else. God doesn’t hold back some to see if you will ask for it, He gives it all totally and completely. The Holy Spirit doesn't come in pieces. If and when you are exposed to the seeking the gifts, then you will learn to yield to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in you he dwells there, but until you yield he can’t use you. One of the first things that happen when you yield is you start to talk in tongues. When this happens many Pentecostals called this being “filled” as if more was given, nothing more was given. The person just yielded to what he already had. The Holy Spirit if you remain yielded will use you in other manifestations of the Holy Spirit such as healing or prophecy or works of wisdom. However the Holy Spirit only moves in these other gifts as they are needed and many times a person is not yielded or gift not needed therefore we do not see that gift in that person. Everybody that is saved has a full measure of the Holy Spirit, whether they use it or not depends on what teaching they have been exposed to and whether they choose to yield their will to another, the Holy Spirit. When you talk in tongues you not “more saved”, you can’t get “more saved”. You are just able to yield your will to the Holy Spirit and allow him to minister through you. I hope this helps Ed |
