The tongues(foreign language they had not studied)in the New Testament was neccessary for that time: if every person(Gentils) present was to understand what the Apostles were teaching. This Holy Spirit we receive upon baptism,as Christians, is of a lesser degree. I Cor.13:8-10 Paul speaks of the cessassion of tongues. The Lamb of God has already come. Upon baptism, one receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand clearer, protect us, and guide us through our life situation. We demostrate the indwelling of the Holy Spirit through so many of our Spirital Gifts. If the word of God needs to be inparted to men of a different culture/nation, God would provide ways and means for this to be done. | ||||||
