Hello Kalos, your answer gives me quite a lot to think about. In October, I attended a church in South Carolina with My sister, I asked the pastor a question about something he said in regard to healing and all of us, IF WE BELIEVE, should be able to raise the dead and heal the sick. My question was, "How is that possible unless it is the will of God that we are able to do this??" His answer was that the word says lay hands on the sick and they will recover, it does not say that only a few people are able to do this. I said that was a true stmt., however, I have always been taught that everything that is done has to be God's will or "it ain't happenin" He did not agree with that at all. After we left the church, my sister and talked about the pastor, she wanted to know what I thought of him,(she lives there and that is where she has been going to church) and I told her that I did not care for him and I did not agree with all his ideas. I told this pastor that I had great faith, and if that was the case, all Christians should go out and heal EVERYONE WHO WAS SICK AND RAISE ALL THE DEAD CHRISTIANS. He said yes, we should. I told him that I had never done this because God had never led me to do that. He then questioned my faith. I began to get a little angry then but did not say anything. On the ride home I asked my sister if she had every heard of Jessie DuPlanits and she said, yes, that is my pastors boss, why? I said as I was watching the pastor tonight, the way he acted or tried to act made me think of Jesse ( and I always get a laugh when I listen to him). The church and pastor in South Carolina seems to hung up on Lots of money, things, etc. I have rambeled on long enough, thanks for you input. Shell

Shell: Thanks for your reply and for sharing your experience. I agree with you in that you quickly discerned that this pastor was missing the mark as far as sound Bible doctrine. You are correct. First, it is not true that it's always God's will to heal. If it were His will, then He would always heal, wouldn't He? Second, it is not true that if somebody doesn't get healed, then they didn't have enough faith. If that were true, all I could say is "Poor old Paul (the Apostle). He could have been healed if only he'd had enough faith." Third, not every Spirit-filled believer has the gift of healing. It is the Holy Spirit, not we ourselves, who decides who gets which gift. It is one and the very same [Holy] Spirit who divides [the gifts] to every man severally as *He* will (1 Cor 12:11). kalos |

THANK YOU KALOS!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is exactly what I was trying to say----------IT IS UP TO THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO HE GIVES THE DIFFERENT GIFTS TOO. I was not very good at trying to get this point across to the preacher in South Caolina and therefore did not make my point to him. I left with him feeling that he was correct in what he was saying and that I was wrong. That's ok, I knew what I meant, just couldn't get it across. I get that way sometime and I wonder if that is God's way of shuting me up so as not to get in an argument???? I will not argue with anyone about my faith, religion or God. There are too many views, and most of the time, we all feel that our view is correct, and that is not always correct either. BUT THANK YOU, YOU SAID WHAT I WANTED TO AND COULDN'T. Shell
