I had to reply to this post. I know tons of ministers on tv and radio that are excellent and entirely Biblical (what I've heard of them anyway), however, you'll ALWAYS encounter some kind of resistance when speaking about big name preachers. Jesus was the Son of God, who's ministry was more important than His? Yet still there were those who opposed Him. I assure you that I am a student of the word not only in my private devotional time, but I am currently in school becoming a pastor. I urge you to do as the Bereans did in Acts 17:11 and check everything against scripture. As for the list of preachers: Oral Roberts, Richard Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, Kenneth Hagin Jr., Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Joyce Meyer, John Hagee, Jesse Duplantis, Jerry Seville, Creflo and Taffy Dollar, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Marlyn Hickey, Chuck Swindall, Billy Joe and Sharon Dogherty, Eastman Curtis, Benny Hin, Mark Sharona, and Billy Grahm (i'm sure his son's and grandsons are ok too, but I've never heard them). I know there are probably more that I can't think of, but I'm sure that you'll be able to find someone. Also, I tend to stay away from ministers that are critical of other ministers. It's one thing to have constructive criticism, but when names are mentioned or it is made obvious who the person is than that is slander which is no more Biblical than wrong teaching. Always check what you've heard with the Bible because it is the word of God and even big time ministers can miss in now and then. I hope my information could be of some help to you and that you find a good ministry that will bless you in your spiritual growth. Jesified |

Dear Jesified, The list of preachers you have named are ALL outside the bounds of Orthodox/Historic Chistianity (with the exception of Billy Graham). While I don't expect that you'd concur with me, this is also not to question your integrity:-) When I "check everything against scripture" as we are admonished to do in Acts 17:11, I find the majority of these "teachers" to be severly lacking in sound Biblical preaching. Many of these "so-called" preachers are also outright heretics and even liars! Strong words maybe, but the evidence is there and well-documented, both in print on on the internet. In my humble opinion, TBN is largely a bastion of Pop-culture Christianity, based upon a man-centered theology. Christ IS NOT the focus, by and large of this group. Their theology is one of seeking God for what He can do for me, not seeking Him for who He IS! As to your contention that,"Also, I tend to stay away from ministers that are critical of other ministers", Paul himself named names! (2 Tim.2:17-18) Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

Taffi Dollar and Billy Graham are slated as the speakers for a conference helt at Oral Roberts University later this month. I guess he hasn't noticed that these teachers are "severly lacking in sound Biblical preaching." Or that "Many of these "so-called" preachers are also outright heretics and even liars!" These leaders are the LORD's Anointed so I hope you know what you're saying. Jesified |

To all the posters on this and 'Divine Healing' thread. When I was a child, in Sunday School I was assigned this B Attitude: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Matt 5:9 Is it possible that the following is a short and simple answer to the healing/prosperity teaching, teachers/false teachers debate? When they heard [that], they were cut [to the heart], and took counsel to slay them. Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, [even] as many as obeyed him, were dispersed. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Act 5:33-40 If the teachings (counsel) or ministry (work) of those labeled healing/prosperity teachers (or false teachers) 'be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it'. |

Good point! I forgot all about that verse. I'm glad someone had the wisdom and presence of mind to bring it up while the rest of us are down here in the trenches defending preachers and doctrine. God Bless, Jesified |
