Seven Reasons NOT To Ask Jesus Into Your Heart! by Pastor-teacher Dennis Rokser Have you ever heard someone say, "In order to be saved from hell and go to heaven, you need to ask Jesus into your heart"? Does this sound familiar? Have you ever read this on the back of tracts? Have you heard pastors or evangelists teach this? Though perhaps sincerely spoken and well-intended, is it biblically accurate to ask Jesus into your heart? Are those who have simply trusted Jesus Christ and His finished work alone not yet saved because they have not asked Jesus into their heart? On the other hand, do those who have asked Jesus into their heart truly possess eternal life because they have done this? Or is all this simply a matter of semantics? #1 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NEVER FOUND IN THE BIBLE. #2 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NOT HOW ONE IS SAVED. #3 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT REQUIRES NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE GOSPEL OF GRACE TO DO IT. #4 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT CONFUSES THE MEANS OF SALVATION WITH THE RESULTS OF SALVATION. #5 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT EITHER RESULTS IN NO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION OR BRINGS A FALSE ASSURANCE TO PEOPLE. #6 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because REVELATION 3:20 DOES NOT TEACH IT. #7 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT DOES NOT CLARIFY THE CONDITION OF SALVATION, IT CONFUSES IT, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. What say ye? John |

I whole heartedly agree with your 7 reasos to not ask Jesus into your heart. It is the most unscriptural perpretation on men by denominational preachers since the Catholic church. The Scriptures teach us that faith only does not save "Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith." (James 2:24). Because of this teaching in Jamse Luthur believed that James was not canonical believing he taught differently from Paul, but Paul although emphasizing faith did not teach faith only. |

Greetings Koscheiman, and welcome to the forum. For starters we don’t point the finger, as it were, at any particular denomination, as a matter of good practice, and “forum rules”. I agree with you on the, asking Christ into ones heart stuff! It’s highly unscriptural and on the list of worthless works the way I see it. I believe James is telling us that as believers with “true saving faith in Jesus”, we will have the works automatically. I once pointed out that faith in salvation is a lot like a reaction to poison ivy; if you can fathom that! Example: When someone has a reaction to poison ivy they can’t help but scratch, WOW, I’m speaking from experience; yet if a person doesn’t have a reaction to poison ivy, from lack of contact, no amount of scratching in the world could give them the rash if they haven’t had personal contact with the ivy vine with the shiny three leaves. Scratching, when one gets poison ivy, is a natural reaction and that’s how it manifests its self. One needs a personal contact with the Savior before the true works of James will express themselves. I like the way James 2:24 starts out; James 2:24 "Ye see then" The Lord knows for sure if one is saved by faith but we can only differentiate when we see the works. Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Have a great day, CDBJ |
