Hello John Thank you for your post. Yes my Christmas was wonderful as well. You are saying. "When we look at the whole of the Bible we see that there is but one way to be saved. God calls His own and His own hear Him." “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;” Eph 2:8 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;” John 10:27 Everything you are saying hear is being the truth. Iam agreeing at all with you on these matters. you are saying "Now in the Old Testament for example, (let’s look through the telescope) we see there were many men and women of God that were saved by the grace of God." Where is it saying these peoples of the Old Testiment "they were saved by the grace of God" meaning Salvation. Salvation is through faith Christ Jesus. According to the Scripture. The people in the Old Testiment were not saved as we know salvation. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 9--- For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Thessalonians 2:13 13--- But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2 Timothy 3:15 15--- And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Hebrews 2:3 3--- How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; (which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,) and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Hebrews 5:9 9--- And being made perfect, (he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;) Hebrews 9:28 28--- So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. 1 Peter 1:10,-12 10--- Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11--- Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12--- Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. You are saying "And we know that when we are saved we are born again, so we know that all who are children of God are regenerate; they have been given the gift of indwelling Holy Spirit." The people in the Old Testiment were not born again. They could not be called the children of God because they were not regenerate. The only people in the Old Testiment that had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit were the Prophets. But that is not saying they were saved (regenerate) either. you are saying So now if we look at the lives of these Old Testament Saints, we can clearly see that through close examination, that, they sinned. Yes john you are speaking the truth. They did sin. But that was because they were under the Law Just look at Moses, (Num 20:8-12) when God clearly told him to speak to the Rock, Moses in anger and frustration struck the Rock with his staff, clearly disobeying the Command of God, which we know is a sin. Moses as his punishment for his sin. He was only alowed to see the promised land but God would not allow him to enter it. That was payment for his sin. Then we can look at the life of King David, (2 Sam 11) and see that he was not only an adulterer with Bathsheba, but also indirectly had Uriah her husband killed, so he was guilty as a murderer as well! David as his punishment. Had the son of the union die. That was payment for his sin. But Moses and David were not under Grace. They cannot be used as examples of sinning after salvation. Our sin has been taken by Jesus. We are forgiven. We are free from sin. Jesus has paid the price. John If it is being alright with you Iam going to be answering the last part of your post.separetly. Rom.7 Ref. It is being very important. To be having enough room to be answering properly. Your Brother In Christ KcabmI4 |

Dear KcabmI4... Jesus said in John 14:6b "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." That is, NO ONE! The Bible is very clear about how to see God! Old Testament or New Testament saints, have never had another way to salvation. Teaching that there is more then one way to salvation is heresy, pure and simple, it is nothing more or less then false teaching! He (i.e. Jesus i.e. God in the flesh) also said, when answering the Pharisee, named Nicodemus, who was seeking truth. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." There can be no argument on this, it is spelled out in all clearness in the scriptures. Whoever or however you came to believe these things, they and you are in grave error! I fervently pray this helps you to see the truth in this matter. God bless John |

John, Your conclusions are correct, but John 14:6b is an allusion to drawing near to God in the world to come. It's more than simply getting saved. It's the way to approach the Father, and that is through the High Priest, of which Jesus is in the world to come. Therefore it is natural that no one can approach the Father but through the son. (see note 1) John 3:3 is a response to a Jewish Pharisee. The predominate teaching on how a Gentile was to enter the covenant (Kingdom of God) according to the Pharisees was for them to be "born again as a Jew." (see notes 2 and 3) They are said to go into the Mikvah (baptismal) a Gentile and emerge born again as a Jew. For Nicodemus to hear his own words (we can assume they were also his words or those of his colleges) gains more interest because Nicodemus was already a Jew and in his mind, he was already secure in the covenant and therefore the Word to Come. (see note 4) Notice Nicodemus was not asking how he could get saved. He was simply saying Jesus must be from God. Jesus takes the conversation to being born again. The only reaction Nicodemus has is, “How can these things be?” Jesus’ argument is between the flesh and Spirit. Are you in the New Covenant of the spirit, or the Old Covenant of the flesh? If you follow the law from the flesh, you are not born anew and have no place in the new. Being born again in the spirit is to have a heart of flesh with the law written there. Being from Abraham by flesh is genealogy, but to be of Abraham’s faith is of the Spirit. Paul draws out these arguments in detail. I mention this, because Christians may be shocked to know that one of their favorite verses to quote has an historical context which comes from the Jewish Pharisaic teachings of Jesus’ day. MJH 1. Drawing from jewish writing's and tradition, John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible hit's on this theme as well. I wish I had more time to delve into these things, but being rather busy with church ministry and teaching bible study; ministering to the needs of our fledgling congregation takes up large portions of time and leaves little but for me to catch up on sleep and study the basic tenets of the Gospel; which I have a hard enough time understanding as it is. :-) Thanks for the info and the invitation into deeper discussion, but I'll pass; for now I'm up to my armpits in books, lectures and sermons to read and listen to, along with writing lesson plans for study, and also lecture notes. One especially good thing though about spending so much time on this computer is, when I take brakes (probably too often) It gives me opportunity to check in on SBF. :-) I've become quite fond of this place and the regulars here.
