1 | Iam having some questions | John 17:1 | KcabmI4 | 212434 | ||
Hello John Thank you for your post. Yes my Christmas was wonderful as well. You are saying. "When we look at the whole of the Bible we see that there is but one way to be saved. God calls His own and His own hear Him." “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;” Eph 2:8 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;” John 10:27 Everything you are saying hear is being the truth. Iam agreeing at all with you on these matters. you are saying "Now in the Old Testament for example, (let’s look through the telescope) we see there were many men and women of God that were saved by the grace of God." Where is it saying these peoples of the Old Testiment "they were saved by the grace of God" meaning Salvation. Salvation is through faith Christ Jesus. According to the Scripture. The people in the Old Testiment were not saved as we know salvation. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 9--- For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Thessalonians 2:13 13--- But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2 Timothy 3:15 15--- And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Hebrews 2:3 3--- How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; (which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,) and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Hebrews 5:9 9--- And being made perfect, (he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;) Hebrews 9:28 28--- So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. 1 Peter 1:10,-12 10--- Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11--- Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12--- Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. You are saying "And we know that when we are saved we are born again, so we know that all who are children of God are regenerate; they have been given the gift of indwelling Holy Spirit." The people in the Old Testiment were not born again. They could not be called the children of God because they were not regenerate. The only people in the Old Testiment that had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit were the Prophets. But that is not saying they were saved (regenerate) either. you are saying So now if we look at the lives of these Old Testament Saints, we can clearly see that through close examination, that, they sinned. Yes john you are speaking the truth. They did sin. But that was because they were under the Law Just look at Moses, (Num 20:8-12) when God clearly told him to speak to the Rock, Moses in anger and frustration struck the Rock with his staff, clearly disobeying the Command of God, which we know is a sin. Moses as his punishment for his sin. He was only alowed to see the promised land but God would not allow him to enter it. That was payment for his sin. Then we can look at the life of King David, (2 Sam 11) and see that he was not only an adulterer with Bathsheba, but also indirectly had Uriah her husband killed, so he was guilty as a murderer as well! David as his punishment. Had the son of the union die. That was payment for his sin. But Moses and David were not under Grace. They cannot be used as examples of sinning after salvation. Our sin has been taken by Jesus. We are forgiven. We are free from sin. Jesus has paid the price. John If it is being alright with you Iam going to be answering the last part of your post.separetly. Rom.7 Ref. It is being very important. To be having enough room to be answering properly. Your Brother In Christ KcabmI4 |

Kcabm14, the believers of the old testament believed God and it was counted to them as righteousness. (our word saved) Those of old looked forward to the cross. In these days we look back 2000 years to the cross. Both are saved by believing God and trusting that what He says is true. Our actions show our belief - Hebrews 11. The Holy Spirit was upon those in the old testament however it could also leave them. In the new testament the Holy Spirit dwells in believers permanently - Acts. John is right in his posts. The text about sinning in I John shows that people have a changed lifestyle they will not sin as a lifestyle, a practice of life. Since we are not in our glorified bodies which we will receive when we get to heaven, we still sin, unwillfully. When we confess our sins our Advocate Jesus Christ, forgives us our sin and cleanses us. This is our daily bath. What denomination or movement are you a part of? The gospel is first preached in Genesis to Adam and Eve when God told them a seed (Christ) would come. We are all, old testament and new testament people saved the same way. Believe and trust in God. Hello to you Val You are saying alot of posts You are saying "the believers of the old testament believed God and it was counted to them as righteousness. (our word saved) Those of old looked forward to the cross." my answer These words are not the same meaning. The people of old might have looked forward to the Cross. But they were not having it . Or Jesus. So they were not SAVED as we are. RIGHTEOUSNESS: Source: ATS Bible Dictionary Rectitude, justice, holiness; an essential perfection of God’s character, Job 36:3; Isaiah 51:5-8; John 17:25; and of his administration, Genesis 18:25; Romans 3:21,22; 10:3. It is the wonder of grace that as the righteous guardian of the law, he can acquit the unrighteous. "The righteousness of Christ" includes his spotless holiness, his perfect obedience the law demands; and "the righteousness of faith" is that imputed to the sinner who believes in Christ. With reference to personal character, righteousness is used both for uprightness between man and man, and for true religion, Genesis 18:23; Leviticus 19:15; Isaiah 60:17; Romans 14:17; Ephesians 5:9. RIGHTEOUSNESS: Source: King James Dictionary 1. Purity of heart and rectitude of life; conformity of heart and life to the divine law. Righteousness, as used in Scripture and theology, in which it is chiefly used, is nearly equivalent to holiness, comprehending holy principles and affections of heart, and conformity of life to the divine law. It includes all we call justice, honesty and virtue, with holy affections; in short, it is true religion. 2. Applied to God, the perfection or holiness of his nature; exact rectitude; faithfulness. 3. The active and passive obedience of Christ, by which the law of God is fulfilled. Daniel 9. 4. Justice; equity between man and man. Luke 1. 5. The cause of our justification. The Lord our righteousness. Jer. 23. RIGHTEOUSNESS: Source: Easton's Bible Dictionary See Justification SALVATION: Source: ATS Bible Dictionary 1--- Means, strictly, deliverance; and so it is used of temporal deliverance, victory, in Genesis 14:13 1 Samuel 14:45. 2--- But as the spiritual deliverance from sin and death, through the Redeemer, Matthew 1:21, is a far greater salvation, 3--- so this word has come to be used mostly only in this moral and spiritual sense; and implies not only this deliverance, but also the consequences of it, namely, eternal life and happiness in the kingdom of our Lord, 2 Corinthians 7:10 Ephesians 1:13. 4--- It is most justly described as a "great salvation," Hebrews 2:3. 5--- The Hebrews rarely use concrete terms, as they are called, but often abstract terms. Thus, instead of saying, God saves them and protects them, they say, God is their salvation. 6--- So, a voice of salvation, tidings of salvation, the rock of salvation, the shield of salvation, a horn of salvation, a word of salvation, etc., are equivalent to a voice declaring deliverance; the joy that attends escape from a great danger; a rock where any one takes refuge, and is in safety; a buckler that secures from the attack of an enemy; a horn or ray of glory, of happiness and salvation, etc. 7--- Thus, to work great salvation in Israel signifies to deliver Israel from some imminent danger, to obtain a great victory over enemies. 8--- The "garments of salvation," Isaiah 61:10, refer to the splendid robes worn on festival days. The expression is used figuratively to denote the reception of a signal favor from God, such as deliverance from great danger. SALVATION: Source: Easton's Bible Dictionary This word is used of the deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians (Exodus 14:13), and of deliverance generally from evil or danger. 1--- In the New Testament it is specially used with reference to the great deliverance from the guilt and the pollution of sin wrought out by Jesus Christ, "the great salvation" (Hebrews 2:3). (See REDEMPTION; REGENERATION .) Salvation: Source: King James Dictionary !--- N; L, (salvo) To save. 2--- The act of saving; preservation from destruction, danger or great calamity. 3--- Appropriately in theology, the redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, and the conferring on him everlasting happiness. This is the great salvation. Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. 2Cor. 7. 4--- Deliverance from enemies; victory. Ex. 14. 5--- Remission of sins, or saving graces. Luke 19. 6--- The author of man's salvation. Ps. 27. 7--- A term of praise or benediction. Rev. 19. I have made another part for you about Heb. 11 Your Brother KcabmI4 |
