Dear AO, It is commendable that you've presented a fully Biblical aphorism. Boasting of the Lord is perfectly appropriate since His eternal purpose is entirely a matter of His doing. I'm certainly glad that in my own life He didn't choose to leave me to make my own decisions about eternity. I'd have never made it. Jesus answered and said unto them, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him Whom He hath sent." (John 6:29) "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63) In Him, Doc |

2 | Praying for the 'World'. | Matt 5:44 | Aspiring Overseer | 163882 | ||
Doc, Clearly stated truth; yes, that is what we should all strive to achieve, is it not? You wrote, "I'm certainly glad that in my own life He didn't choose to leave me to make my own decisions about eternity. I'd have never made it.". Just how has that worked for you with God making your decisions? That would have been great for Ananias and Sapphira! Best regards, AO |

Dear AO, We shall see in glory how it all works out. I'll depend on the grace of God, the author and perfector, of my faith over a human decision any old day! "Forasmuch as some people imagine that they must look on God as a respecter of persons if they believe that without any respect had to the previous merits of men, He hath mercy on whom He will, and calls whom it is His pleasure to call, and makes good whom He pleases. The scrupulousness of such people arises from their not duly attending to this one thing, namely, that damnation is rendered to the wicked as a matter of debt, justice and desert, whereas the grace given to those who are delivered is free and unmerited, so that the condemned sinner cannot allege that he is unworthy of his punishment, nor the saint vaunt or boast as if he was worthy of his reward." --Augustine Regarding Ananias and Sapphira: Have you ever heard of "secondary causes?" "During this earthly life corrupt nature remains in those who are born of God, that is to say, regenerated. Through Christ it is pardoned and mortified, yet both the corruption itself, and all that issues from it, are truly and properly sin." (see Ecc 7:20; Romans 7:18, 22-25; Galatians 5:17; 1 John 1:8) You mix apples and oranges when you combine your regenerational decisionalism with the acts of the redeemed. One topic at a time!
