1 | Praying for the 'World'. | Matt 5:44 | Sonlit | 163570
Thank you Tim, actually, I did wonder where the intrepretation of the verse God is not willing that any should perish came from, but I find it hard to disagree with a scholar of the Word. I believe I read this in John McArthur's study notes, somehow that seems to hold so much more weight than my feeble opinion. I am really searching for truth and have come up against some doctrinal teaching that has literally brought me to tears. I never really knew before that God created people purposefully for hell. I recently had to teach this to the children at our church, and it just happened to be the Sunday before we burried my mother-in-law. There was no indication in her life that she made a profession of faith and I couldn't grasp the concept that God made her for hell. There are so many more unanswered, soul-tearing concepts confronting me. And yet....and yet, I am CONVINCED that God is all loving, sovereign, good, and trustworthy. I rest in this. |

Sonlit, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Help me out with something,I've never read that God created us for hell. Where God says in Genisis let Us make man in Our image. I've always had the the impression that Gods desire was to have a relationship with us. Now I'm sure that I'm missing something here there must be. Could you please explain? In Christ, lionheart |

3 | Created for hell? | Matt 5:44 | DocTrinsograce | 163589
Hi, Brother Lionheart... Just as a point of interest, in the Baptist tradition we state it a bit differently. "By the decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestinated, or foreordained to eternal life through Jesus Christ, to the praise of His glorious grace; others being left to act in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His glorious justice. (1 Timothy 5:21; Matthew 25:34; Ephesians 1:5, 6; Romans 9:22, 23; Jude 4)" --1689 LBCF (chapter 3, paragraph 3) (See the entire chapter for a more complete explanation.) All men rightly and truly deserve destruction. In an incredibly gracious and glorious act of mercy, God Has singled out some to be saved through His work of redemption. This is a purposeful action of divine providence. Those that enter into judgment are simply allowed to follow the course merited by their sin. The distinction is a matter of commission and omission. In both cases the "purpose" -- if we can use that kind of language here -- is to bring the greatest glory to God. In Him, Doc |
