1 | Bible's view on suicide? | Matt 27:5 | justme | 125540
tmjt21: After reading JCrichton's long note I felt I need to respond. Like I said there are two beliefs and JCrichton has presented one side quite well. However, may I give some additional imput. The ONLY sin that is unforgivable, that is rejecting the Holy Spirit's plea to make Jesus Christ Lord! Please think this over. Do Christians die with unconfessed sin? Yes, everyday! In auto accidents, in sudden death circumsatnces. Is there any way that that the Lord Jesus can remove you from His secure hand? NO, neither can you remove yourself if you are born again! The Bible does not say one thing and then say another. Either Jesus saves us from past, present, and future sins or none at all. Having delt with several families with love ones who ended their lives as believing Christians, I can tell you this is not an easy way out. As a pastor I have dealt with clusters of high school students that agreed to end their lives. These poor people are under sever mental stress that if they were thinking as healthy people they would not have ended their lives. Often there is a period of less tha 10 minuets that if they reach out for help, they most likely will not end their lives. Ending one's life is an act of sever anger, depression, and other causes, none theless ending one's life is SIN. All sin is forgiven just the same! By the Blood of the Lamb of God. If these people were to abe to think correctly and could realize the pain it leaves for others, and the pattern they leave for others to follow, perhaps it might have changed their choice. This is a very serious problem for teenagers as it was the number one killer of teens in the nineteen nineties according to Zondervan Book Of Life reasearch. I can not say if it still is number one now, I believe it still is. I encourage you to do what ever you have to get your friend some help ASAP, do not take no for an answer, call anyone you can to get help, this is not only a spiritual problem it is a moral and legal issue that can cause mightmares for a lifetime. I hope to hear how this turns out, please! justme |

Justme, Thanx for your response. And I do believe there are two sides to every coin, just like there are more than likely always going to be atleast two different points of view. I was not praising JCrichton's response as being the one and only answer and that it is 100 percent true. I was thanking him for taking the time to be so in depth with his answer and taking the time to respond so fully. Just like I will thank you for taking the time also. Just a little information on myself, I am a teacher and deal with this kind of issue on a regular basis. Not often is it that I can come to the child with Biblical context, nor do I think it is very often the right choice. We need to come at them with love and understanding at meet them at their level. I have been in the depths many times and know that God was working inside of me b/c I have no idea how I did not committ suicide. But those days are in the past and my life is solely for the will of God. Before i go into my response I do want you to know that I am just in conversation with a friend about this topic, I do not know someone right now that has told me they are thinking of suicide. But in reply to your response, I am not sure I understand what you are saying. To me it sounds like if a Christian decides to committ suicide that they are going to heaven, Jesus is just going to be "a little more unhappy" with us. That is kinda giving us a free exit from the world, we just might not have as many treasures in heaven. Am i not suppose to be seaking and trusting God more when I am in the pits that He is at work in my life and it is all going to work out according to His will? Am i understanding you the right way? That it is okay because I am down and out and under a lot of emotional stress that I can end my life and enter Heaven's gates and spend eternity with the Holy One? What Christian doesn't want to leave this world and get to Heaven? I am SO ready to go! But of course I believe I am called by God to do mighty things for His Kingdom before i go "home". So that is the focus of my life. Thanx again for taking the time. me |

I believe that Justme has hit the nail on the head. We are either saved by grace or saved by works. Is one sin worse than another? Certainly God wants us to live in victory but we don't always do that. Do I walk outside of God's will if I suicide? Absolutely! Do I walk outside of God's will if I lie? Absolutely! "The branch in me that does not bear fruit the Father takes away" John 15. Suicide is part of a fruitless life, as other kinds of fruit-less-ness. I tried to commit suicide many times when I was in my teens. I was manic and depressive, until one day when my body chemistry corrected and that all went away. They were very dark days, Jesus treated me with love, even miraculously preserving my life. Nothing shall separate us from the love of God!

Mark Bless you friend, I am glad you responded. It takes courage to become an overcomer in Christ. I believe the battle is never over until the Lord calls us home. You have made excllent points, what a fine testimony you have on the keeping power of Jesus, if we abide in Him daily. Blessings Mark. justme |
